At my friends house, I disliked the controller configuration for Resistance and I changed to shoot button from R1 to R2 and it worked perfectly fine for me, but it was a little big sensitive.

I don't think they're saying that the Sixaxis is flawed Jenzo, just that R2, for that paticular controller, wouldn't really work for the shooting function. R1 would work be better, in my opinon.
I don't think I'll be getting this game, anyway. MGS4, Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, and Ninja Gaiden 2 will come first :)

when I get the game i'll probably swap the controls for Ri to be attack/shoot and R2 to snap into cover, seeing as its so sensitive its a good snap into cover control scheme.

I like that the D-pad is located underneath the left analog stick on the 360 controller. It makes for a faster and more natural motion when having to switch weapons etc.

@ 6.1 - you must never have tried to use the D-Pad for quick select in Oblivion :)

I've tried it on both consoles actually. The precision on the 360 D-pad wasn't good in Oblivion, but I'm talking about the position of it. It's about usability design. Since they added the triggers, I think they should have borrowed the D-pad layout as well.

Here's hoping we can swap it back to R1.

The L2 and R2 on the PS3 controller are just too sensitive and, well, they don't feel right.

The reason why devs choose R2 for shooting is because its called the "trigger" button, sure its good for racing but it can also be for shooting, for me it has made me much better at CoD4, but i guess it doesnt work for some people.

I don't get it, but I guess I'm just used to the Xbox controllers which have always had triggers.

I can understand if you're playing with the dual shock 1 which had no triggers, but with the PS3 controller there are triggers so my suggestion would be to use them. It's much better for shooting than just a button imo...feels more natural.

I don't know how you hold a controller, but I tend to have my index finger on R1 and my middle finger over R2. Likewise with the left hand.

Using my middle finger to fire just feels weird. After all, when you fire a gun (be it a real one, water pistol, whatever), you probably use your index finger.

Basically it want it to feel natural, if that makes sense.

well unlike scarfy I dont have a death grip on my control and can move my index fingers....ya know up and down so I can use both buttons lol

Ya, wow. I now understand how people get hand aches with the ps3 controller. If I try and put my index finger on L/R1 and middle on L/R2 then the controller does indeed feel far too small.

I move my index fingers around. Most games don't require millisecond switches between the shoulder buttons and their triggers. At least in my opinion (however I am not that good at COD4)

I can do this with my PS3 control.
But it feels unnatural with my 360 controler.

In shooters I use my index finger for both R1 and R2.
I don't know any shooter where you can use them both at once.
Other games yes, shooters no.

lol. that was really weird to me. you should always know the default controls in any multiplayer game so you can go and play on another console against someone easly. thats my take. but customizable controls are nice. like in Orange Box.

yea, excellent point there... I believe rockstar shud make the controls customizable.. wud be kool if u were able to play gta with keyboard and mouse... GTA feels more suitable playing on keyboard and mouse, except gta sa- that was jus annoying to play on pc.

anyway i hope you actually take the ride in the taxi, and tell the driver to speed up or follow other cars n stuff

I seriously hope that they make the buttons fully customizeable like resistance and include Southpaw/legacy settings for the sticks. I'm tired of games (mainly shooters) having crummy control mappings and there being no way to change them.

It's quite interesting. Will taxis be used that often in this game? It is called grand theft auto to begin with, so shouldn't we just steal the cars in the first place? As for me, I'll call a cab, toss the driver out, and make a clean getaway.

you cant just jack any car you see cause the cops will bust your ass. its more gritty and realistic and im glad they are taking the series in a new direction.

R2 is fine. Devs just need to put a little dead spot of it, not shoot at the tiniest movement.

I think they are basing the control layouts on previews from other mags/sites, which explains why they're incomplete

Not really satisfied with default controls, I just hope we'll be able to change the controls ourselves.. I want to take cover with L1 and shoot with R1.
L1 is too important to be wasted on calling taxis!

They should switch R2 to shoot to R1, and same thing with L2 and L1 to make it all symetrical.

to be honest at first i didnt like the ps3 trigger buttons (then i got some trigger mods with a mag) but when my pad runs out i use the one with no trigger mods... i gotta say i actually dont mind using R2 to shoot anymore... but i still prefer R1 (i prefer R1 over the 360's RT tbh)
