Sony Ericsson PSPhone - First Leaked Images

Here are the first supposedly leaked image of the Psphone from Sony Ericsson. No details have been released in terms of specs about the phone. This has not been officially confirmed by Sony Ericsson yet.

If this does come out, it would be sweet. The design makes a lot of sense. But exactly how are you going to implement UMD disks on it is a question mark. Is there a picture of the back of the system?

This isn't great but it's good. It looks like it's going to be set at a lower price. It won't cost as much as the iphone I guess. If it's $250 i'm getting it.

Yeah I just read from the article that the probability of this happening is about 30%. But you gotta admit though, that this looks really slick.

I'm not sure I like that design. It's just mock-ups apparently (thank you, Gamer Zone) but it looks more like a phone with PSP features added than a PSP with phone features added. The buttons seem way too small, (although I guess you can't determine size from the picture) and I have big hands so it really wouldn't work for me.

The ideal PSPhone for me would essentially be a PSP Slim with buttons/control stick thingies for games and a touchscreen for phone. With whatever other features added too. And knowing Sony, it would probably be able to play videos downloaded from the Playstation Store.

PSP phone will be next on my list. This could be my only phone for a long time.

If they do release a psphone I will get 1 though I would hope I would not have to sign up for a cell phone plan. Already got 1 thats working aight and I don't want to switch plans.

I've got me an LG Viewty. Okay, yeah, so the touch screen isn't as good as on the iphone, but there are no problems with it. It's no good as a music player, but neither is the iphone with its crap capacity and messed up headphone jack. There's no gps either. The closest it's got is google maps.
What does it have?
3G and a 5 megapixel camera that shoots video at 120fps. F*** yeah.
Plus I get it on my ridiculously cheap contract so it only cost me £40.

To hell with the iPhone, I'll stick with my RAZR thanks. Still, if the PSPhone is real, and this mockup does look pretty hot, I would consider it.

It would have to have flash memory in place of the UMD, not "look" like a gaming machine, and be available without having to sign up for a plan (use it wifi) and with availability through Virgin Mobile for me to care about it. :)

this phone needs a full qwerty keyboard and that slides up and down and also make it have games like the psp, also let have blackberry like funcations and we have a killer product one that I would buy in a heart beat. I have a sonyericsson P1i right now , and dont want to spend another 400 bucks for mobilephone anytime soon ..

so PSPhone will be my next choice for these reasons :

1-Vivid and Crisp display (like PSP or Iphone)
2-impressive SPEED(PSP and iphone)
3-GAMES (PSP only!)
4-user friendly interface XMB ( PSP ,iPhone is f***ing userfriendly too)
5-useful softwares (PSP and iPhone)
6-WiFi (PSP and Iphone)

so GAMES will make the difference for me : PSPhone FTW

it looks cool, but it has to get the design of the PSP portion of it right so the games can work

If I want a phone, I'll get a phone. If I want a handheld, I'll get something made only for it in mind, like DS and PSP. Apparently they learned nothing of that what was N-Gage earlier... Mobile phones and Gaming do not blend well.

These pictures are from Sony Magazine. This phone looks awsome and I would definately pick it up. You never know, you might be able to upload psp games from PC or PS3, eliminating the need for UMD. This phone looks better then the Iphone. Read the article.

I'm not really sure if this is worth contemplating. The N-Gage was the first attempt at a gaming phone, and look at what happened to that... For the phone to be as good, games-wise, as the PSP, it'd need a similar sized screen - which would be much too large for a phone. The chances of this being any better than the iPhone is slim, and it's success rate is remarkably low. I reckon that the only thing going for it is the Sony Ericsson brand name, which is always well above par.

This is fake. But if SE were to drop one of these I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I don't know if any of you have not owned a SE phone but they are one of the best performing and most thought out phones available. With the exception of a Nokia 95-3 (shats all over the iphone) I'm SE all the way...

Sure does look PhotoShopped...but if Sony wants to make money, THATS where it's at...ya never know. Slight bulk...UMD slot, slot for SIM cards...not to mention the ever shrinking chips...I'll be looking to see if it's a hoax or not. GOt my fingers crossed.

I would say this picture looks realistic (and this PSphone is hot, but I've been fooled once by a prototype of a touchscreen ipod (which was only two classic ipod screens photoshopped together), so unless there's official proof, let's say during GDC or even E3, I'm not jumping on it.
