GameFly: Devil May Cry Storms The Top Five

Gamasutra reports that this week's top rental charts from U.S. game rental company GameFly, representing the most requested games for the week ending January 21st, highlight both to-be-released and already released games.

Burnout Paradise speeds into the top spot after spending last week at number three, displacing three-week leader Kingdom Under Fire: Circle Of Doom, which tumbles all the way down to tenth place.

Capcom's Devil May Cry 4, slated to release February 5th, makes the top five twice -- the Xbox 360 SKU in second position, and the PS3 SKU in fourth. In between them, holding the third spot, is the Xbox 360 SKU of Turok, while No More Heroes enters the charts in fifth.

Overall:

It shall be interesting to see how DMC 4 sells on 360 and PS3 worldwide, I'm guessing DMC 4 will sell better on 360 in America, and PS3 version selling better in Europe and Japan (Like Assassins Creed is currently doing, Or PES for example).

mikeslemonade5930d ago

Time to get more Lunchables. Everybox gurantees a free month of Gamefly.

RecSpec5931d ago

Devil May Cry gets second even though being a pre-rent.

Check it out, more people are renting the PS3 version.
Wonder why that is...

Cyrus3655931d ago

actually there is more demand according to GameFly for 360 version of DMC than PS3. It's top rated PS3 game, however the top rated and overall most requested or rented game is Burnout (360).

Iron Man 25930d ago

It's because the PS3 version not only looks but plays better than the Xbox 360 version, and the Xbox 360 owners have probably never even played or even heard of DMC,they were probably to busy playing Halo on the Xbox 1;)

lol Turok #3. I'm pretty annoyed at the way gamefly send out games. Sometimes I get sent games that are #34 in the queue when there is games before that one with the same availability. Sometimes I wish Netflix have monthly game rentals.

Agree. U know, I thought about it and the only advantage gamefly has over blockbuster is the no late fees (not sure if blockbuster still has late fees though). Anyways, Price wise they are almost the same, as it is nearly impossible to rent more than two games in a one month period from Gamefly, but u pay 18 dollars for the one month membership (one game out plan). Blockbuster rents games and they are around 9 dollars per game, so around 18 dollars for 2 games, which makes it equal to Gamefly price wise. Blockbuster has advantages too like, their next door brick and mortar stores that enables people to rent games immediately w/out waiting.. also no chance for losing games in the mail and taking the responsibility for other peoples mistakes..

That's why I keep the list short. I asked them once if I can put a lock of some sort on the queue (e.g. wait at least 4 days to get the top title before you send me something else), but they don't do that currently. But if you have only one title in the queue which you really want, then it usually works, even with launch titles.

BTW: Blockbuster. Is that $9 a monthly plan ? Because I think it is ridiculous expensive to pay $8 per week (!) to rent a game. And I don't want to rent them for just a week. I use BB only for a sneak peek in case I might be interested but don't want to wait (and my addiction takes over).

Cyrus3655930d ago

Blockbuster is crazy excepting people to shell out nearly 10 bucks to rent a game. I remember when it was just over 5 and I thought that was too much. lol

actas1235930d ago

But thats the price u are paying gamefly. u pay 18 dollars a month (the one game out plan), but its impossible to rent more than 2 games in a month >>>>> u end up paying 9 dollars per game... and please tell me what game u rented so far that u did not beat in less than a week. I rented call of duty, and finished it in two days, uncharted 4 days... what else.. I mean gamefly is simply another blockbuster if u think about it... So u better rent games from blockbuster... Gamefly tricks people into thinking that ohh 16 dollars (before tax) for one month is a great deal.. but actually it is not when it comes to renting games.. that one month can only lets u rent 2 games, due to the time games take in the mail to u and from u... W/ Blockbuster on the other hand, u could rent one game for 9 bucks after tax so, they are pretty much equal, and I think blockbuster canceled late fees..

Suki035930d ago

Yeah, for me, I have 2 at a time from gamefly for $26. It works out for me most of the time because when I'm playing one I can send out the other finished one. When I'm almost done with the current one, the other one is usually here.

For new released title, I try to time the return of the title with the release date so I can get it right on release. It worked for uncharted, ratchet and clank, call of duty, and hopefully DMC4 ^^.

Actually Ryan Gosling makes a ton of sense.

Edit: If this can be done in a Scott Pilgrim movie kind of way that would be dope.

rolando12322d ago

The more I think about it, the more I kinda want it to be a thing lol. Ryan Gosling would be awesome. He would need to play it less serious, but he's shown that he can be a goofball.

Bless the adorably all digital future! When it comes to PC games its not as big of an issue because there should always be another way to access single player games, but still, I hate to see anything get delisted.

Aaroncls776d ago

Well, DMC4 special edition has a lot of issues to run from Steam.
I have to get a modded executable to even be able to run the game on Windows 10.
Not sure if it is because the game runs in DirectX10 or what, but it sucks they have not even tried to fix it.

Sephiroushin75d ago (Edited 75d ago )

DMC4 Special Edition is not delisted, it was just the standard version, it has nothing to do with issues of performance or anything alike. Its just that Capcom probably do not want to sell the standard version, neither the standalone DMC3 version.
