As you my Know Sony is set to release the new playstation TV into the Market of the West this OCT 14th 2014, and Nov 2014 for Europe.
Many People Have Questioned Sony's Idea on the viability of such a product, that Aside from a Little 1st party Software support for such a platform now, and what little 1st party many gamers see a lack of Sony offering, with a high price for blank media cards, and Sony's direct investment more into lower cost indie games that can be found on other devices with many times a cheap or a cheaper price point for such games. why should a consumer ie: Gamer or otherwise invest into such a box?

While a very good function to offer the consumer, you still need a PS4 to really take the best advantage of such a function.
Thus is if you want to stream PS4 content to another room in your house, it would be cheaper to buy one of these instead of having to pay for another PS4 that is if your network is of decent reliable speed.

Well playstation Now will also be offered, and while it offers a way to play many games that Sony and its partners have for streaming, with pricing not completely set yet , many gamers see that as more along the lines to wait to see how it will develop.
So that really does bring us to the point, of why should you as a gamer invest into such a platform , when you may not see a real use for the product past a certain niche?

It is close to a deal with at least one other major TV-channel owner, another person familiar with the matter said.

This is not a channel here and there, No this unlike the majority of streaming box offer's out there do not get a near complete real core basic cable Tv "like offering" while Sony just secured a deal to offer.
A platform with a Entry Price point for a streaming Box with

. streaming games
. local stored game playing
. and with remote access functionality to boot
Sony just may have leapfrogged even Apple in the streaming TV box option. with this deal, the name playstation TV is really not just in name but in true core of its ability.

For the first time in a long time I have a hard time feeling excited for these events. Maybe it's because of all these massive lay offs and closures there hasn't exactly been good news since the start of the year.

Cancelling e3 and introducing some ridiculous events..
Times have changed.. to the worse
Back then it was very exciting, great looking trailers, on stage live gameplay where yes things can and have went wrong but that's how we knew it was a real games being played instead of curated footage extra doctored up that didn't even represent the actual game half the time. Games would release 6 months to a year max not 3 years later.
I miss past E3's even the goofiness like Giant enemy crab or Riiiidge Raceeer. Xbox and Kinect glitching Nintendo's craziness. Again it was real, these days there so protective, clean, doctored sets, where nothing can absolutely go wrong. Too strict and professional with heavy PR babble with buzzwords that mean nothing. Being professional is not bad but when it's fake and corporate heavy where you're made to buy into the words rather than the game, that's how you know it's not real.
Now SFG is just sizzle reeling all the games at once. Plus past SGF events haven't been that great either. Maybe that's not Geoffs fault but the pubs and devs are simply never ready to show anything and have to wait. This gen we've been waiting and waiting for these games.
Plus lay offs as I Mentioned. I dunno Geoff needs to do what made E3 great back then, get funding support and do live stage gameplay he has the support and so why not? Pubs and devs need to do their own thing at the event again. No more doctored bull crap with PR diarrhea trying to sell the game show us with a controller in your hand instead of making empty promises.

I will never forget the pre-e3 one year where Kojima was teasing MGS Rising.. and Peace Walker.
Such an incredible period where studios enjoyed what they were doing and teasing their work weeks before the event.
Nowadays is half baked games, cross gen titles, useless mid gen upgrades. There is no hype anymore.
Last great show I remember is the PS EXPERIENCE maybe 3 or 4 years ago in December

I don’t collect games for their value I collect games I enjoyed playing. Many games I own are worth a lot of money but they must be games I want to play for me to purposely collect them. Most of this list isn’t games I would enjoy. I may have some of these games because I bought my friends PS2/3 Collection years ago and I never actually looked what was in it. It was a couple hundred games though still sitting in a box and I’m sure there are some good valuable games. I should go sift through it sometime.
I tend to agree for the most part rarity is linked to price
It's unusual that a rare game was popular with a few notable exceptions. Games released at the tail end of a consoles lifecycle which became popular years or decades later like little Samson on the NES or earthbound on SNES.
Or games that were banned after release in certain regions
Looking at this list there's nothing I'd be trying to collect either most of these games were fairly unpopular and bashed on their release leading to the scarcity seen now.
Especially NBA elite which I remember actually watching the news about how it got cancelled but had already shipped to retail it was so bad .
Good article and i been watching this viacom deal too, a great reason to buy this. I was already going to buy one and i have many vita digital games i use this with. I've yet to buy a vita yet and i was wanting to play on my tv like the psp could so this is good plus and the streaming and PS4 xtras make it a no-brainer.
Nice article, so basically Sony wants to enter the tv satellite/ cable and tv streaming market. Ot could also lead to Sony not making consoles and just offer PlayStation Now service.
