GTR Writes: "Roundtable discussion at Hot97 FM with Godfree (Gamertag Radio), Soldier X (Talking About Games) & Tat Wza (IFWT): Tablets or gaming consoles?"
The Xbox brand has done a lot of good over the years, but their various blunders are pretty wild to look back on in their magnitude.
Ironically number 9 can save them at this point (releasing games on multiple platforms)
Phil Spencer is the worst that has happened to Xbox.
They built a respectable brand up to Xbox one. Then this guy took over and things became a joke
Really good video.
I remember the days with RRoD was big news on here, N4G.
Microsoft had it turbulence number of years.
Looking at the success of Sea of Thieves despite being 6 years old, time to release Halo, Forza horizon 4 & 5 on PS5. It'll help their revenue
I found this video painful to watch. Can someone list them out?
Top 10 for me from are:
1. 2013 reveal presentation
2. Bundling Kinect 2 with Xbox One
3. RRoD or why rushing to market with hardware is always a bad idea.
4. Buying studios only to close them.
5. Ads on the Home Screen
6. Letting Halo die.
7. Letting Geard of War die.
8. Every console name
9. Charging for Xbox Live on Xbox 360 when Sony let PS3 players play online for free.
10. Cancelling release of OG Xbox games after the Xbox 360 launched.
"AI is not a substitute for human creativity. We position it as a technology that supports creativity. Creativity resides in people. We will continue to contribute to people's creativity through technology," the CEO said.
...not yet but 100% within the next 10 years!
..Then Sony will use it like the drop of a hat. They're no different to the others.
People that aren't software developers just don't understand the benefits of AI. People who's only exposure to A.I is the Terminator movie and other related sci fi films won't understand the benefits it provides.
It's not about replacing human labor. It's about making human labor easier.
Many years ago, I had laser eye surgery done. It was performed by a robot. The doctor took my measurements and calibrated the machine to make sure it would do what needed be done. And then the robot corrected my vision in 10 seconds.
15 years later and I still have 20/20 vision.
Microsoft recently revealed its plans to incorporate Copilot directly into video games, with Minecraft being the first showcased example.
F*** AI
"Hey Copilot, what's a good meme to prove I dislike AI".... https://giphy.com/clips/sou...
Two trillion dollar company that just can't wait to put as many people possible out of work as fast as possible.
It feels like every single thing they do is making gaming worse and destroying the industry.
Why all the hate? Im actually excited about this! Always wanted this kind of immersion, and an AI companion with me all the time helping me out knowing the status of my skills/inventory/progress and giving me tips on the best approach or how to craft something specific is game changing for the industry.
Hate all you want about AI, but this is just the start and I can see the potential already. You wont be complaining in the next 5-10 years about this, but rather complain if a game hasn’t implemented it.
I won't take anything these guys say seriously simply because of their hats.
Deerstalkers, Bowlers, Stovepipes, and Tophats are acceptable. A monocle wouldn't hurt.
Silly gansta' caps however just make me think of Dappy from N-Dubz and then my thoughts turn to violence.
And continuing the hat theme , if a deerstalker is a console and a gansta' cap is a tablet there is only one winner.
Darthv72, You didn't think I was being serious did you?
Please say no.
from a convenience POV I see tablets offering more for the gamer 'IF' they can be connected to a TV and allow for traditional controls.
Granted there will always be the question of technical specifications but we are at a point (or close to it) where you just cant get any better than photo realism. So once the hardware has achieved that mark, what is left to keep pushing the industry forward?
My guess would be more ways to interact with the games. We have been gaming the same way for 30+ years. Someone has to come along to shake things up. A convergence of mobility and stationary gaming seems the natural progression of things.
Thing is, there is allot of perception on the company that is willing to take that risk. If it isnt the right company then obviously the device will get panned and ridiculed for trying to do something different. If it is the right company then it will get praised for being a change of pace that millions of gamers will embrace.
Who will be the one to do it and can it be done in a cost effective manner?
Casual tablet apps are not touching core games. Firstly because they are missing a big screen tv, surround sound, game controller, and headset. Secondly, because the gameplay is very basic. Angry Birds = Gorillas, Tank Wars, Worms, or any number of flash games you can play for free online. That’s the reason why, as they said in the interview, tablet games cost at most $9.99. Tablets have consoles beat on number of games and price, but you can’t compare the 2 because they are too far behind on immersion and depth of gameplay. A lot of people will end up buying both because they are very different styles of gaming.
I can't believe people still believe battery-powered mobile CPUs and GPUs can even come *close* to competing with their power hungry brethren.
Anyone who even suggests so is instantly branded "ignorant sheep", in my eyes. Don't even get me started on the lack of a serious control interface.
.99 or 9.99 look as good as the 360/ps3, what a 1000 ton load of crap. There is no tablet game that has the depth and gameplay as a AAA console title.
They are dazed and confused
