The Perfectly Sane Show Ep. 81: Twisted Connections

Chris from Retrocore joins us this week as we talk about a bunch of old series with new titles, including Soul Caliber 5, Twisted Metal and Syndicate. We also further explore the Online Pass hoopla, discuss THQ’s deepening troubles, as well as Jessica Chobot’s perceived conflict of interest. Most importantly though we name our game of January after trying to decipher Jeff’s plans for the segment.

Oh and we TRY to bring the sunshine this week, but as with everything we do they are delivered with mixed results.

All I ask for is a new Twisted Metal that allows flat screen & PSVR2 cross play that also supports a wheel.
Would be heaven.

Babadook7310d ago

Wow. I like the idea of VR twisted metal with a wheel.

They need to get the enemy AI balance right. Thats what made 2 the best in the series. Black was abysmal in that dept.

neomahi310d ago

You don't. Do sequels. If you've gotta reboot, might as well do a new IP. God of War is the only game I can say that did a successful reboot

TiredGamer310d ago (Edited 310d ago )

Isn’t the new GoW just a sequel technically?

I personally think they can leverage the roots of the series. The original TM in 1995 took place on Christmas Eve 2005, and it was the 10th contest in history. Why not “reboot” the franchise by making a prequel of sorts showing the origin story of the series and maybe linking all the future games in a brilliant way. Seems like such an obvious idea to leverage old with the new (kind of look how Doom 2016 did with its lore).

Just make it a good game Twisted Metal has it's fan base.

Syndicate Reboot Servers to Close

Electronic Arts has announced a number of server closures in the coming months, including Apex Mobile and the 2012 Syndicate reboot.

MadLad431d ago

What online functionality did Shadows of the Damned even have?

kevco33431d ago

My thoughts exactly! Some kind of score chart I've forgotten about?

coolbeans431d ago

Syndicate's big saving grace will soon be erased for good. I'll give *some* credit to EA in keeping servers up for 10+ years.

mastershredder430d ago

Oh yeah, an actual cyberpunk game. I have fond memories of the old bullfrog Syndicates.

Syndicate was a fun and high quality late PS3 fps that got swallowed in the sea of fps at the time. It was short and it didn't innovate but it had good visuals and fun combat. Starbreeze i believe. Rip Torn and Rosario Dawson.
