They tried too hard to be epic with that trailer is the feeling that i'm getting coming out of that...

1.) When I saw the dogtags I was like "right...if this is going to be a straight copy of BF3's dogtag system... poor show - no wonder DICE are keeping their cards close to their chest if MW3's just going to copy everything"

2.) Those throwable mines? I foresee many rage induced hours for anyone on the receiving end of those.

3.) The killstreaks seem almost the same as MW2 - come on now...

4.) It just looks so familiar... so much like MW2 that I feel it's quite insulting to us gamers when they talk about how awesome and new MW3 is going to be.

In conclusion, all I see is that they've added more stuff to MP without thinking because it'll bring people in - but when they actually come to play it they'll see it's not finely balanced and that it just gets frustrating to play, which a game should always try to avoid.

If you enjoy playing the COD series, good for you - I for one will be trying my luck with BF3 in October and i'm sure it'll be money well spent.

The amount of hate for this game has reached EPIC proportions. So many people wanting this game to fail. I dont get it you guys. Why do you hate the game you played so many times year after year. This is just like FIFA, PES, Need for Speed, Assassins Creed, etc. Games that have a clearly year by year "milking" program and the game itselft only shows slight improvements. This game comes as a follow up from Modern Warfare 2 that came out 2 years ago. The engine is the same, its true, but this is a game about quick and fast action gameplay. Actually they switched to tomahawks in black ops. They used throwing knives in mw2. So they actually didn't change anything.

And if they replace claymore mines with those, it's better. You can duck and they won't hurt you (those came out in mw2's singleplayer). Instead of just instant death.

Overall samey and it highlights probable quickscoping and annoying grenade launchers frequently.

But my best friend will probably get it so I will too more than likely. I don't really like any* mp but I like playing with my friend. So yeah.

BF3 MP Trailer showed us destructible enviroments, team play and team tactics aswel as a massive warzone.

MW3 showed me lots of breaking glass(yeh they somehow class this as destructible enviroments), lots of headless chickens running round a map that looks no bigger than my back yard, and on top of all that it did not feel like a warzone and i got the creeps from that sniper who looked like a child molesterer.

COD4 MW was probably the best MP game i have played ever and because of the crap rehashes they keep releasing its now just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Dont support activision or infinity ward if thats what they still called. instead jump boat and let Dice know you appreciate hard work

Ok here is my honest opinion and im not gonna bash the game.

It looks good, but thats it. Thats the problem, "Good" is as far as it goes. I feel as though ive seen this somewhere already. A few new nice touches here and there, some nice graphics(i said nice, not great or fantastic/insane) and pretty good sound, and thats it. Thats the problem, i dont see anything REALLY new.

In all honesty i think ill be buying this game, but just for the story and spec ops.

The only people who don't like quickscoping are those who aren't skilled enough to do it. Sure, you'll get killed quickly by quickscopers, but it's really really hard. All the quick scopers have really really bad kill/death ratios.

Isnt it time to develop this fps genre? How about real team work (which means that it is almost impossible to achieve the goals on your own, kind of like MAG)? What you're whining about is the fact that the people's opinion does not favor yours. And lets face it. Battlefield 3 IS the better game. It's not even an opinion anymore. The game offers more, it has better graphics, destructable environments, more guns, land/sea/air vehicles, maps that are miles long, a higher resolution etc.. I mean, I guess MW3 has a higher framerate, but... yay? The game isn't even a re-skin of MW2. It's literally the same textures.

Considering the fact that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 did not win ANY awards at E3 (compared to Battlefield 3's 60+), and the multiplayer footage was taken off of Youtube by Activision themselves because the video had over 2000 dislikes in under 3 hours with only 300 or so likes, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that MW3 looks like garbage compared to Battlefield 3.

And this isn't just MY opinion. It's pretty much everyone who's previewed both games' opinions.

Ive pre-ordered BF3 and prefer it any day over COD, but i dont hate COD, i think the arcade approach is a great alternative to the more realistic style of BF. Its great to have the option.

I'm with you. I want to see something NEW for this series. When BF3 and MW3 were first announced and the hype trains kept rolling, I remember reading all these articles on N4G about MW3 was gonna feature destructible environments and large scale combat, more weapons, etc.. All lies apparently? I did love CoD from CoD4 up to Black Ops (and YES, I love Black Ops, despite the massive online failure that it is, it's fun to level up and customize weapons, etc.)

Everything they've shown from this game so far looks like an exact to-the-letter copy of MW2. I'll wait and see some real MP footage before I evfen decide if this is a day 180 buy for me.. definitely not a day 1 purchase though. I really want something new from this series..

Visuals don't look as good in comparison to BattleField 3. But i know that these devs are aiming for 60 FPS on consoles instead of 30FPS so they sacrifice level of detail for extra frames. Anyways Frostbite engine 2 in my opinion looks a lot better than the outdated quake engine that activision uses for this title. They could have at least used the Unreal Engine which in my opinion while old is so heavily updated that it can compete with most modern games. Everyone knows that the Call of Duty Franchise is never given long development cycles so you really cant expect things to be on the same level as battlefield 3. In my opinion their goal with Call of Duty is to sell millions of copies while producing the game as cheaply as possible in order to maximize profits.

It looks like all Activision has now is modders (Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games) who simply make new textures and maps and throw it on top of Infinity Ward's four-year old project.

Kotick sucks the big one for firing half of IW over greed and renegged on their contracts. What surprises me is that all went unnoticed and people wonder why the CoD games hasn't improved for years.

I'd feel the same way towards Battlefield if EA fired DICE but kept the franchise going with modders. I just can't support a publisher that fires quality developers so they can make more money.

I think the killstreaks have changed, those dog-tag things deffinately mean that you cant camp anymore but its looks so unbalenced and the amount of Kill streaks you can get is a joke!

I just want balance and a decent net-code so the Hit detection is improved, but thats probably too much to ask.

I aint a huge COD fan but I do find that I have had fun on MW1,MW2,WaW & BLOPs.

Much to alot of users on here discontent to the fact that they have used the same engine for all there previous titles I am happy they have kept the engine the same as it means the game will feel the same and I wont have to adapt to a new style of play which alot of new engines bring. Graphics arent important so long as I get to have fun! and are we really gonna complain about the SOUND! I mean REALLY! LMAO!!!

Hopefully Acti will be looking to get a new Engine for the Next Gen, until then is a new Engine needed?

The Perks and Killstreaks look interesting, I dunno what I will wanna play with and I'm glad you can have machine pistols as secondary I didnt like that about BLOPs.

The play style that was shown in the trailer is similar to my own I enjoy to run and gun and often get picked off by snipers, the game looks good Day 1 for me.

Anyone that played Crysis 2 multiplayer will find that dog tag mode very familiar indeed!

For those that didn't, in Crysis 2 the only way you could activate kill streak rewards was by collecting the dog tags of enemies you killed. It seems the MW3 devs liked that idea a lot haha.

Design of the trailer was very much the same of the multiplayer reveal for Call of Duty 4.

I imagine the use of this trailer was combined with theater mode hopefully.

Lack of actual footage with HUD was disappointing and the sniper footage was kind of pointless.

It's like screaming "Hey don't worry, you can own everyone with killstreaks and such but in the end you will get owned by a quickscoper scrub."

Have to see more of it this week at COD XP to determine if it will improve on MW2.

Also the removal of the video is cheap, they did the same thing with Spec Ops mode reveal.

people won't be able to sit and camp for killstreaks, that will also make getting the bigger killstreaks a lot harder to get.

with more turrets and stuff you have more options for taking out air support hopefully.

Hello to everyone, I've been sitting on the sidelines just reading everyones comments on multiple threads and figured Id join in the fun.

I'm not here to bash games but would like other input on what i'm getting ready to say.

The Dog Tag system for MW3. You kill the enemy, dog tag drops, pick it up, and -then- it goes towards your killstreak? correct? What about snipers that actually -try- and legitimately snipe from -long range-? Or someone with an assault rifle that kills the enemy from a long distance? Now said person has to navigate across half the map to reap the rewards and quite possibly get shot in the process and never gets to acquire his/her killstreak.

Also, what if the dog tags have a certain time after the initial kill to be acquired? For instance, you -long range- kill someone. Your trying to make your way to the tags only to find out your to late in grabbing them for they have now disappeared?

I know this is all speculation and the video leaves a lot of "what ifs" But this could be something to think about because if this is the case.. why would you want to try and legitimately play a sniper if you'll never see the rewards of being one?

Id like to hear some feedback..

Really really underwhelmining. I was actually looking forward to this reveal but they just aren't trying anything new. I mean I expected more of the same, we all did, but this seems like a backwards step to me. They just seem to of added in a few extra weapons/equipment and that's it.

Watching THIS trailer, then watching the BF3 trailer and its plain as day that MW3 is lacking in so many ways its almost scary.
Saying that...Activision from a business standpoint are smart. They know very well they did not have to change one thing from the previous COD games and just repackage MW3 and it will sell by the legions to the Blind legions thinking its cutting edge and different.
The game looks exactly the same. Same gameplay. Same dated, poor graphics and animations and physics. (And the real scary part is many gaming sites will hand out 9's or 10's for MW3 for Graphics when it is released.

But I commend Activision for their smart business plan for COD games:

Keep using the same 4 year old dated game engine and gameplay and market it to 12 year olds as the next coming = 20+ Million sold...

Everyone who was a CoD fan thinking that they'll just jump ship to BF3 is RIDICULOUS. The gameplay style is completely different. I happen to like both styles equally and will be getting both. BF3 is a great looking game, and still manages to look pretty darn good on consoles, but the number of people disappointed at how MW3 "looks" is incredible, and you are all delirious. We all knew it was going to be a tiny bump. So, when did everyone become a graphics whore? What if the gameplay is good? Does it not matter anymore?

Those looking for a technical bump in the franchise can wait until the next generation. If it's still around, it will be completely necessary then. The increase in visuals is really not necessary at this point in the cycle. Many aspects of the game still look pretty good, and as far as visual PRESENTATION goes (framerate, fluidity, not necessarily graphical fidelity), it's still sitting nicely among AAA shooters.

It's very easy to have solid frame rates of 60fps with no screen tearing when the games engine has not changed for years and has:

ZERO real time lighting
ZERO real time soft shadow effects
ZERO dynamic destruction in real time or ANY period
ZERO USE OF Eye Adaptive HDR in real time
ZERO USE of Dynamic Radiosity
ZERO USE of Subsurface Scattering in real time
DATED Physics engine we all saw 4 years ago

I could go on, but you get the point.
Just because a game on these aging CONSOLES is running at 60 frames per second does not equate that game to triple A status, when so many other factors are missing in the game that are mostly or partly present in other games this generation.
There is a reason MW3 and all the other COD games this generation are running Sub HD and at 60fps...
The graphics/physics engine is almost last generation.
This trailer proves that.
Shame on Activision. $60+ for the same exact game as MW2 and any other COD game.

Personally, I like to run and gun. I like constant action from start to finish. That's why I like Modern Warfare. I don't care if it has unrealistic graphics, unrealistic weapons or unrealistic abilities. It's good as an arcade game, not a war simulator.

Anyway, I'm psyched for this game and I hope it's just like Modern Warfare 2 with updated killstreaks, perks and maps. That's all I want... and it looks like I'm gonna get it.

It looks like a lot more fun than Battlefield 3.

Your not getting the point. I bought cod since cod 2, It added things up until cod 4, I defended mw2 like it was new but looking back on it, Did it really add much? Then black ops came out and I was really weary. I ended up buying it cheap of steam and thats when I thought enough is enough. I am not going to support this business model. I don't want more companies doing this to me. I was a fan and loved cod and they completely destroyed it. This trailer just made it worse and sparked a lot of people who were passionate about cod to get pissed off.

What I don't get is... how are they supposed to make modern war look much different than Modern Warfare 2? It's using the same game engine and using brand new maps so obviously people are going to say things like "It looks like MW2 with new maps".... well DUH!

What the hell are they supposed to do to make it look different? Use pretty colors? (war settings don't have pretty colors).

Also, don't tell me they should make a new engine. People love the Call of Duty engine and it works well. How many console shooter games (out right now) are running at a constant 60fps?

Plus, there were quite a few things that changed in MW2 from COD4. I don't understand why people thought that was the best COD.

Many stuff that appeared on that video I saw a few years ago in games such Resistance 1&2 and Killzone 3.
Like airplanes bombing enemies near your character, sentry turrets, mines etc.

The graphics are not bad on this MW3 trailer but I was expecting to see more action with players in a real MP battle and not a 2VS 2 only fights.

If I have to choose bettewn MW3 and BF3 I will pick BF3 without having to think much about it,
But the single player campaign and coop modes are other factors that to me are more important then MP and that we don't have much information about it,

It's up to us, as a community of gamers, to not endorse such half ass projects. As many have stated, this is nothing more than a glorified DLC, which we are expected to pay full price of admission for. Having been someone that was not really impressed with the first showings of MW3 and fully wanting BF3 I was surprised. I was at XP today and this trailer is underwhelming compared to the live code I played of the game. It was impressive. It's going to be good. Wait for more multiplayer footage to release.

I've done this a dozen times already, but I'll step up and defend CoD since no one else will.
CoD is good. CoD is a great game. I'm more than happy paying $60 for the game on release day and buying all DLC map packs. Know why? Because it's fun. Don't start the "Battlefield is better" bullshit. They are different games. Battlefield is a very team oriented strategic game. The CoD series is, at it's core, an arcade shooter. I mean, it has you running around constantly popping in and out of sights with "+100"'s popping up on your screen. What about that doesn't scream arcade shooter?
As for the game not innovating, that's horse shit as well. You can't do much in an FPS's gameplay while keeping it the same game. Now that they have put out four massively successful CoD games, they pretty much have the gameplay part down. Now it's all about adding new/tweaking the infrastructure. Things like the create a class, the challenges, the way you rank up, the weapons and attachments you have access to, the perks and how they work together, etc etc. To an "outsider" you may think Black Ops and MW3 look nearly identical but in different times, but you are dead wrong.
Now that I know what I know from the CoD XP event today, I can say in good conscious that MW3 and Black Ops are totally different, even in the gameplay itself. Like the transition to a "point streak" system, including a streak list that doesn't reset when you die, and allowing you to "level up" your guns, you've got fundamental differences in the way they play.
Black Ops was very gun on gun focused. The killstreaks were, in comparison to other CoD games, underpowered. In MW3, they are putting a focus back on killstreaks, but making them more accessable, and at the same time making them less of a focus than in MW2, striking the balance between too pervasive and not pervasive enough. Considering that, people will play MW3 much much differently than they played Black Ops. With the only useful killstreaks in Black Ops being the 11 killstreaks (Dogs, mainly), people would camp much more often for their streaks. Since you get points for capping objectives, assists, and kills in MW3, that should cut down on camping. Not to mention giving more casual players access to a list of killstreaks that, while not being particularly lethal (they are made to support the rest of the team), don't reset with each death, will all but eliminate camping in your average Domination game.
I know I just dropped a load of text here, but this is something I'm constantly bothered by: people needlessly hating on CoD because they don't play it and to an outsider it looks the same every year.
