Not yet!

Does this mean Steam on Xbox 360, it’s real possibility. Though, no official announcement has been made by Microsoft, we expect Microsoft to announce more later this year. Read more about Microsoft and RakNet right here.

eggbert4862d ago

I'd be shocked if this happens, because Microsoft would pretty much be killing their own GFWL thing.

EL1TE4862d ago (Edited 4862d ago )

GFWL is for PC.

Xbox Live is a different service.

eggbert4862d ago

@ EL1TE

Xbox Live is still part of Microsoft, and I can't see them promoting a rival direct download service over their own direct download service.

It'd be like if there were mac ads plastered onto XBL. It might not have anything to do with XBL itself, but they sure aren't going to give advertising to a strong rival.

BattleAxe4862d ago

Just another lame site looking for hits.

Biggest4862d ago

If the price of Xbox Live was raised and Steam integration added, would the people here that already pay for Xbox Live also pay to have Steam on Xbox Live? I know that this is a speculation piece by whatever website. But I am curious to know how current XBox Live users would react to such an addition (price and service).

ShottySnipa4174862d ago

@ EL1TE
Actually, it's pretty much the same.

Xbox Live accounts and GFWL accounts are transferrable from PC to Xbox.

Let's sya that you bought an Xbox Live subscription but you don't want to pay for another GFWL account. You could use your Xbox Live account on your PC by recovering your gamertag.

Pjuice4862d ago (Edited 4862d ago )

you don't have to pay for any gfw accounts they have all been free for awhile now so if you dont' want xbox live you can play gfw live w/o having to pay anything shotty.

FordGTGuy4862d ago

You do realize that Steam sells GFWL games right?

Kran4862d ago

@EL1TE and @eggbert

GFWL is failing. So it wouldnt surprise me if Microsoft gave up in the end.

Ducky4862d ago (Edited 4862d ago )

^ Well, due to past horrible experience with GFWL, I tend to not buy games that require GFWL. Though many people seem to be satisfied with it (and developpers still seem to integrate it), and they sometimes have some pretty good deals.
Don't know if they're going to kick the bucket yet. Especially with those random announcements about focusing on PC.

EL1TE is right, they're different platforms and the competition is different.

I don't believe that this 'Steam' will be the DigitalDistribution service. Probably just steamworks which will add features to the games and provide the typical steam features. (... then again, this is all speculation)
So it isn't any real direct competition going on here. Kinda similar to how Sony Laptops come with MS Windows.

ActionBastard4862d ago

2 different services that abide by the same TOS? GFWL uses XBL TOS. EL1TE is incorrect.

Wait, what? Microsoft? The guys who make you pay for online gaming? They allowing a competing service such as Steam to come onto their very "sacred" secured platform?...cross-platform playing with another service that is not run/tightly controlled by Microsoft themselves?

I HIGHLY DOUBT IT.

siyrobbo4862d ago

it would probably be steamworks if anything, not the actual steam marketplace. Like the PS3

XRider4862d ago

Just because you never heard of it doesn't mean it's not there.

the_best_player4861d ago

Vavle went to M$ first about stea., M$ said hell no we like to control xbox live and make money off your FREE dlc Vavle.

Vherostar4862d ago

Steam will never come for the simple reason MS wants all of the control over its network its been clear on this since day 1 and no amount of technology will change this. Not to mention STEAM addition would take away MS cut of downloads and give to Valve instead something I seriously cannot see MS doing. Not to mention STEAM is a rival and putting on MS just doesn't seem like its going to happen only Sony seem to be happy to work with there rivals this gen.

siyrobbo4862d ago

as long as its a gold exclusive feature i'm sure MS would be open to negotiation

IaMs124862d ago

guys your missing the point of it coming to LIVE if it does. It would open up a gateway for PC/PS3/360 to all connect, to perhaps play with each other like Portal 2 and more. Talk cross game even though on separate platforms.

XRider4862d ago

Bubbles for a good post.

theonlylolking4862d ago

M$ probably wont allow cross online play.

WetN00dle694861d ago

Why wouldnt they???
I believe Shadowrun is already a Cross platform title.

Aarix4861d ago

Steam would be really good on Xbox and Ps3, it would give us gamers more competition. And a better community, Xbox Ps3 and Pc Gamers all in one game of Blak ops anyone?

all-time peak 3 minutes ago.

thorstein10d ago

Nice. It's really cool that PC players get to play this masterpiece.

PrinceOfAnger10d ago

It has surpassed spider man now
it's 71k+
game did this with way shorter time than spider man.

itsmebryan9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

@prince
I'm confused. Does that number mean total players at one time playing like a snapshot
or total sales? If it's the former that's not very accurate because I know I'm not the only person that buys games and plays them later and that number is not included.

RNTody10d ago

Great, I loved this game. Definitely think it's Sucker Punch's best work to date!

rippermcrip10d ago

Is this going to be the new thing thing? Articles about Steam reviews? Which of course was in response to the false article about the review bombings in the first place.

Christopher9d ago

Hey, just a heads up that the new owners did open news to Steam updates, but we try our best to not allow them to go on daily updates unless relevant to some other news. I understand this isn't everyone's cup and tea and sympathize, but the door has been open. If you feel it's 'too much' please do PM me or submit a ticket to the mod team. Thank you.

shinoff21839d ago

I came here to post this link in that specific article. 84 perce t is pretty good. How many bad reviews were there like 5

GamerzElite10d ago

This is good game and Ghost eliminate all fake outrage.

CrimsonWing6910d ago (Edited 10d ago )

I always get confused by this, but is 72k good sales numbers for a game? I keep seeing games fail at selling 2.5 million and that they need to be on multiple platforms but is an additional 72k adding much?

Fishy Fingers10d ago

Im not sure how its confusing :\

72k actively playing. Not 72k sold.

A good example is Helldivers 2, 6m sold, 450k (at its peak) active players.

But how many swords swung is what we're all really waiting for.

shinoff21839d ago

Lmao. How many swords swung. I was hoping for how many steps

wesnytsfs9d ago

And its how many years old from initial release.

Crows909d ago

72k is concurrent
...that is not the sold figure.

Michiel19899d ago

for one they already had a huge launch on the playstation, they don't need to sell 5m to make the porting to pc profitable and as pointed out below that number you see is just the people playing it at this moment.

Plague-Doctor279d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Also from the insomniac leak we know these PC ports are a quick turnaround and budgeted around $2-4 million. At 100k sales they break even including Steams cut. They may not sell millions but they are a great ROI

elazz9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

72k concurrent. That is a global number. People who bought the game are not playing at the same time because of timezones, working schedules, holidays, events... There is no good rule of thumb but you can extrapolate based on other games that also released sales data. Then it is clear that the PC release alone accounts for at least 500K copies sold on steam, maybe closer to 700-800K. Probably will sell over a million this extended weekend.

According to steamspy and other data gathering sites games like Days Gone, Spider Man, God Of War, Horizon Zero Dawn have sold 2 to 5 million copies on Steam. So I expect Ghost to reach similar numbers. Probably even surpass it.
