The 3G network excisted years before iPhone 3g took it on board and why the hell does he act as if Apple invented video calling? I had a SonyEricson phone more than 4 years ago that I used to video call my friend who was right behind me once. The iphone can record at 30 FRAMES PER SECOND! Almost all phones can do that and some have a feature to lower the resolution and record at 120fps.

That guy in the video said it was his first time having a video call and he works with technology... wow just wow.

Edit: as for the screen I wonder whether it will be better than OLED screens seen in many phones lately.

Edit 2: LED flash I've always hated the fact that phones either use LED or Zenon why not a combo so that you can use the LED during the video recording and the flash while you take pictures?

Guess what? Working with Nasa.. and Nasa engineers (they are rich.. trust me) all the time, I see close to no iphones at all. So my point goes back to it being a smart thing over a status thing.

I can't wait to see all the Apple whores say this is all revolutionary or something. Europe has been doing video to video phone calls for years. The Droid Incredible, the EVO 4G and several other phones on the market already do 720p video recording (and the two phones I mentioned have 8 mp cameras). Multitasking should not have taken 3 years to come. The Nexus One's amoled display is probably the best phone screen on the market.

I have a 800x480 2.7" OLED screen on my phone and even when I watch 360p DVD rips people ask me if its HD because the quality is amazing.

OLED is the future seriously especially in the dark where if your watching a movie the black bars at the top and bottom just disappear they switch off completely and emit no light at all its really worth it to put OLED screens in phones.

Problem is with ATT over flooded network. Its not IMPOSSIBLE just not plausible at this moment. There's simply too many iPhone users clogging the network that any attempt to perform an over air Video Calling is simply laggy, like trying to play FPS on Dial-Up.

Its only wi-fi this year only, next year an update will allow it to used over air 3G.

Got to love how they try to sell old technology concepts. All that is new to the iPhone V4 has been out for the Android phones for months now. Forget it hoops. What Apple has is a LARGE userbase that keeps on growing. When this new iPhone hits, it will sell a crapload.
You are right, they arent doing anything revolutionary. But because of the large userbase, video calling will reach to the mainstream and make it populair. The phone I had 4 years ago could already do videocalls but I barely had anyone to use it with, let alone get a decent quality.

I really think and hope videocalling will reach the audience now.

4) 8megs vs. 5megs

EVO's front facing cam is only 1.3-megapixel. Apple's cams are both 5 megapixels.

If you know anything about digi cams then you'd know that a larger censor means better quality images and less diffraction of light. Do a quick search and you'll see that I'm right. So the iPhone cam will produce better rez images.

5. Android's multi-tasking sounds horrible. It continues to suck up memory.. kills the app for me?. It may have had it before the iPhone but doesn't seem very efficient or user friendly.

Could someone please tell Apple they did not invent the video call? I've had it on my phone for 4 years now, way back when 3G was brand new. And I never use it, because it simply isn't that great. This is why I hate Apple. They proclaim themselves to be the saviors of the world when all they do is take what's already there, put their ugly Apple logo on it, and charge 3 times the price. That's a good point, but I didn't say the quality of video calls on the iPhone isn't superior. Of course it is. The internal camera on my phone sucks, and I'm sure the one on the iPhone 4G is much better. My point is that I had video calling 3-4 years ago, and now apple are advertising it as though it were something completely new and revolutionary, which it isn't. If they said their high res camera and superior connectivity makes video calls less of a gimmick and more a viable option, then I would agree. But those guys saying that video calls are now finally possible thanks to the sheer brilliance of apple are flat out lying.

2) Steve Jobs doesn't control what applications you can and can't have.
3) 3G porn on the go.
4) I think multitasking, but I'm not 100% sure on that one since I do not yet own an android. They say iPhone 4G will have multitasking though, so it'll have caught up to android in that regard.
5) More applications thanks to ever increasing user created content.
6) If you know how, you can program and create your own apps and modifications for your phone.
7) The software is independent from the hardware. The bad news is that no matter what phone you buy, android wont be absolutely 100% optimized for it. It'll still run great though, and the good news it that you have a much wider selection of phones to chose from.
8) Android supports adobe flash player, iPhone doesn't.
9) If Google takes over the world, it will get lots of free stuff like ebooks and cloud-based operating systems. If Apple takes over the world, Steve Jobs will outlaw flash, porn, and all electronics will have the apple logo and cost three times what they should.
Support Google, not Apple, and your conscience will be clear.

Everyone is saying the Android is better, and in some ways it is, but you have to remember that without the original iPhone there wouldn't be an android, the iPhone started this type of smart phone.

Also about the multiple tasking, os 4.0 does it different then any other phone, I don't have the time to go into details, but you can look it up.

iPhone 4 has the highest Rez screen as of now, I'm sure that will change in a few months, and no other phone does 720p video recording at 30 fps.....look it up.

About the video conferencing, sure other phones have it, but it's only good if other people have it as well to use with, with the iPhone now having it, it will open up millions of other people to call, and apps to take advantage of it.

Sure I might sound like and apple fanboy, but I do my research. Not only do I like advanced phones, but I like them to be easy to use, and that's where the iPhone excels.

Seeing as many of us on this site are infact 'Gamers' the logical choice for handheld phone/gaming device would be the iPhone, the Android doesnt have not even nearly the amount of games iPhone has available to it.

Take in mind alot of gaming companies such as rockstar, Sega, Blizzard? even take the iPhone into consideration and have built apps for the device. You wont hear of Sonic 4 coming to Android.

I'm using the iPhone 3G and i've tried other devices such as the N900 (which was much faster). I had an sold the N900 because the iPhone (jailbroken) had far too much to offer App wise rather than Technical spec wise.

This being said, the iPhone 4 will be a day one purchase for me.
