The problem here in lies is this - They had a great artistic approach in the 1st one and a decent set of mood. Kind of like its own thing going for it. Now. Now it looks darker and more washed out. More typical. More of what we've come to expect instead of sticking to its own track. It's like they carved a path and decide to use someone else's this time out.

I hate how when a follow up comes out they automatically have to make it darker. More mature. More gritty and more in your face. Sometimes things don't need to be so typical. How much of a shock would it have been if the game actually took on a lighter tone instead of a darker one? Ask yourself how much you would've liked the change of pace had the game been set outside on Mars opposed to dark corridors.

Calm down man. Its like 5 seconds of the game put into 10 screenshots. :) We don't know what the rest of the game will be like at all. Day one for me. Loved the first and I'm sure this one won't disappoint.

taken from a small few seconds of the game seems a bit naive. Let's wait until the retail release to pass judgement on the color palette.

Dead Space had its own thing going?!!

News to me. Last time I played it it was a Resident Evil game set in an Alien movie environment with monsters from The Thing movie as enemies. The only thing it did on it's own was combining those in an excellent way and adding awesome sounds, oh and that no in game menu thing, but I doubt they were the first to do that.

I'm actually glad to see that the sequel is trying to do something on it's own instead of copying from others.

UC:2 did look amazing, just shut up already about it. Dead Space 2 looks like its going to be a winner, how people are complaining about a game that still has a year of production is ridiculous. And GoW 3 will be better than Uncharted 2 by far.

made it easy by smashing dead bodies and using certian strategies for monsters. It wasnt very hard but I thought it was better on the harder modes as it was much more intense.

Dead Space 2 is looking to be a more better game then the first one I just hope the developers don't mass up part 2 of Dead space like what capcom did with Resident Evil 5 didn't do anything new just cap everything the same as it was in Resident Evil 4.

I didn't buy DEAD SPACE until it was discounted. What a fool I was! Loved every minute of it, and felt several genuine shivers during play (and not many games have achieved that, I can tell you!).

The church architecture in these screen grabs looks like a nice variation on the original - As much as I loved the first instalment, I don't want to spend the entire sequal wandering through similar corridors, engine rooms and labs.

I hope we get more levels set in space, as I felt they were too short in DEAD SPACE.

Looks good, hope they fixed the gameplay, deadspace 1 felt a bit tedious.
Enter room, kill aliens, flip switch, enter room, kill aliens, flip switch, and so on.

But i found assassins creed 1 boring as well, and i am currently having a blast with the second one.

So perhaps the Dead space team pulls off the same that the Assassins team did, and deliver solid gameplay in Dead space 2.

well, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but i would say your in the minority on this one fox.

Dead space was nowhere near the monumental let down that AC1 was. They don't need to do a " AC2 " turn in direction as far as gameplay goes. They just need to take what they did and expand on it. make the environments a bit more open ( which they have already said they have done ) and stick to the same principals as the first.

I have said it many times and I never get tired of saying it. Dead Space 1 was my Game of the year for 2008. and i have read quite a few comments from other gamers who felt the same. the same can't be said of the first AC, although i suppose there will be some people who would call it their game of the year as well.

what, like the way you guys judge the first screen shots of your exclusives... now all of a sudden we can't tell the game is badass based off of screen shots.

you remember the first unofficial fuzzy GOW3 screens that were leaked onto the net... ya same sort of way people could tell that game was going to be badass.

do yourself a favour and leave dead space 2 alone. it's one of the few IPs this gen that does not have fanboys at each others throats. everyone more or less agrees that universally on both platforms the game is awesome !

I hope that's like pre-pre-alpha build because that looks like an x box1 game, the next game better offer full screnn aa on pc instead of that edge AA, although I don't recall seeing jaggies at all

that maybe true, but it's what they did with it that counts. I am sorry but dead space one was an awesome looking game. one of the most underated games graphically of 2008 - infact this gen. it looked way better then some games i could mention that came out the same year.

people just don't give it credit cos it's multiplatform and it would make there precious exclusives look bad... and i say that aiming at both the exclusives that came out on 360 and ps3 ( i own both systems and owned the biggest exclusives that came out on both systems that year ).

The only thing that looks different is his mask, otherwise it's not much different from before.

His starting suit was skin tight in the first one, so I'd be willing to wager this is DS2's starting suit.

Not to bash or anything (I'm a huge Dead Space fan), but the new suit design looks too futuresque and advanced for my taste. What I liked about the first game was that Isaac looked and felt like he didn't belong in a fight with aliens. He had a shoddy old mining suit and clunky weapons to fight with. In these pics he looks like Ultra Planet Destroyer 3000...

I guess that's because of the new direction they're taking with Isaac, making him more badass, in-charge kind of guy. He knows that the Necromorphs are out there and he's suting up to fight them, unlike in the first game where there presence was unexpected.

I still don't know how I feel about the way they're handling Isaac's character this time around. It could either go terribly wrong or really right.

I'll just wait and see.

dead space was probably my favorite title of '08, and I didn't even finish it until a week ago, because every time I'd sit down and start playing it by myself, within minutes I'd be scared sh1tless and be forced to turn it off.

I eventually made it a point to only play when my roommate was sitting there in the living room watching me. According to him, he enjoyed watching me play the game quite a bit, but primarily because of my freakouts (my most reoccurring going something like, "it's too quiet, I know something's about to ha-oh sh1t! oh fock! oh fock! I'm out of ammo! fock! fock!! fock!!! BYRON!!!!!")

While I'm not to fond of the helmet (nor the fact that the armor isn't all bronze like it used to be) I'm still really excited to see how this game turns out.

I have NOT beat the game yet for that very reason.

I have a nice surround sound system and this games sound really gets to me. I could only play it for 30-60 mins at a time.

I am 37 years old and I will say that im not afraid of movies etc...but Dead Space just CREEPS ME OUT!!!!

I think I have like 2-3 levels left to complete the game. I will have to do it before the sequel.

I havent completed Dead Space 1 so im hoping that it continues the story. Like maybe have Isaac on the planet surface they found the object.

Dead Space was one of my fav xbox games and this one is looking amazing. As long as they manage to keep the atmosphere and intensity then we will be fine.

The game is set on one of the moons of Saturn in a city called Sprawl. It is set three years after the first game and Isaac is there because of the government trying to re-create the marker. Though there will be more to the story of course.

New weapons include the Javelin Gun that pins necromorphs to surfaces. They also discharge electrical blasts.

Isaac's telekinesis has been upgraded, nearly everything can be smashed now, meaning that telekinesis plays a bigger part in fights. Ie floor tiles can impale creatures.

His suit has been upgraded, in zero G it has little thrusters that enable him to space walk long distances.

New necromorphs include swamers that cling on to bigger necromorphs creating body armour.

It will be more action packed than the first and few boo pieces but each chapter will have abig set piece. "We're not going away from what made Dead Space great, we're just doing more of it" I.e at one point a huge window smashes and the decompression sucks everything out and you have to shoot the override switch to activate emergency shutter,a tram level where you have to stay on top while waves of necromorhps come at you.

No news on the multiplayer side of things but it will be a major feature rather than an add on. There is speculation it will be humans vs necromorphs ala left 4 dead.

I can't wait for this it was such a sleeper hit but it didn't deserve to be.

This should turn out very good. If they keep it similar to Dead space and not change too much then it should be a winner.
