A woman on a mission moves beautifully and violently. Although there is a sense of tension that feels like a game to the death, the battles are very fast-paced.
Stellar Blade fans wanted Eve to stick it to the man, but she feels too tame and most reactions say she should have gone further.
"Stellar Blade fans wanted Eve to stick it to the man"
I haven't seen a single fan say that, honestly not even one, am I missing something
You're not. Mainstream loves to be creepy. They love imposing stereotypes and pushing their own agenda into others.
This whole article is a game "journalist" complaining becasue a video game character "isn't sexy enough". Is this really what it's come to?
The world is divided into two factions. Those who want 25% visibility of butt crack and those who fight for 26% visibility.
Hi friends, I recently came across an article https://valhallavitality.co... about PT-141 injections that caught my attention. sigh.
i dont remember anyone ever wanting eve to "stick it to the man" watsoever. not sure what the author is talking about.
The Stellar Blade battle isn't over, and distributor Sony has taken sides against its customers. Yesterday, reports came in that the highly-anticipated game had been censored in both the gore and at least one costume.
Mark Kern, the former Blizzard producer
who goes by Grummz on social media,
explained that Sony is almost certainly
responsible for this and outlines a plan for players to deal with it.
They are sending the reputation of gamers back to the 90s with this one.
This has got to be the saddest shit I've ever seen in the gaming community.
@Zeref “They are sending the reputation of gamers back to the 90s with this one.”
Uh I disagree with that, back in the 90’s if a game didn’t had blood, skimpy outfits and violence it wouldn’t sale.
I would had said they’re Nintendo washing it.
"back in the 90’s if a game didn’t had blood, skimpy outfits and violence it wouldn’t sale."
You are joking right? There are numerous games that didn't have any of that and still sold well
Strange i don’t think she’s more controversial than the Dead or Alive 2 characters back in the days.. some suits were just… too much but no one cared
"Uh I disagree with that, back in the 90’s if a game didn’t had blood, skimpy outfits and violence it wouldn’t sale."
You made that up entirely, just to go along with the anti-censor narrative. You actually weaken an argument when you're completely disingenuous like that.
The 90s were a good time for pop culture, especially video games, we didn't have the BS we have to deal with today, blood/violence/scantily dressed woman wasn't as controversial, even in Australia, we got the blood and gore without too much censorship.
I wish we could go back to the 90s.
Reputation of gamers?
According to mainstream we are all sexist incel homophobes. Not sure our reputation can get worse...
Let them have their fun. This won't stop good games from being made but it may pause bad shit from happening...if I recall, battlefront 2 had some shit that people "cried" over.
You can tell exactly who they are by the way they talk... "It'll appease the marxists" ... "he's exactly the sort of leader the anti-woke movement needs" ... So yes, they are exactly that, sexist, incel, homophobic racists. Typical MAGAt ilk.
@frosty
Dumbest comment I've seen in a while. But tell me you don't know what you're talking about without telling me you don't know what you're talking about.
You don't personally know these people so you're just assuming.
But hey...if the "racists" are against gambling mechanics in videogames, overpriced garbage, releasing unfinished games, meaningful representation vs garbage tokenism, wanting quality games without gaas in single player games...they can't be that bad.
@Crows... if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck, it's a duck.
"But hey...if the "racists" are against gambling mechanics in videogames, overpriced garbage, releasing unfinished games, meaningful representation vs garbage tokenism, wanting quality games without gaas in single player games...they can't be that bad. "
Way to throw out a bunch of red herrings to distract from what they are actually whining about... Not a single one of those things was brought up here, or in any of the other things the "anti-woke" crowd are crying about.
It really is embarrassing. I’m playing it, it’s great. And she’s hot, also great. But would I give a fuck if I played as a middle aged bald guy with a son? No!
so censorship is good ? no matter how small ? gore being removed is insane, just have it as an option.
Once you accept this type of thing it always snowballs, ask people who live in china. Main stream outlets call all gamers racists, and the worst of the worst, you couldnt get any worse. We are hated for liking attractive females, hated for not wanting more female leads, you cant win with activists, they are mostly failed political writers. They openly tell you they hate you and the hobby.
No you are hated because you don't realize that you are the ones doing the censorship. You say what women HAVE to look like. You are the once saying we HAVE to be racist. You are the one saying we HAVE to stop women leads. You are the ones saying we HAVE to have the types of characters YOU deem appropriate. That is censorship. You are taking your politics and trying to force it on gamers.
You give gamers a bad name. And we are gonna keep saying it to you realize that being a proxy for a made up political movement just allows people to weaponize you against their alleged enemies. A tool.
@eonjay
So tell me who had a problem with the way eve looks?
Nobody is calling for censorship of any games except the main stream media.
We are artificially hated and called whatever comes to mind to be as offensive as possible and also in order to discredit anyone that opposes mainstream media. Whereas all we say is let people do what they want...but then you got all these other business counseling devs about what is best for their games and it so happens to be what is worst since it puts politics and agendas into the development process.
@Crows90
Bro look at the outfits in the game. We already won. There is nothing to be mad about and that's okay. Also, of the handful of people who seemed to have an issue, most sources were already on our side. You make it sound like literally everyone in the press is punching down on this game. That objective untrue. So clearly you have a political issue with the 'main stream media' that doest have anything to do with this game.
I really don't understand how we went from, "woman can dress and act as they please", to "we can't have a character with feminine features or personality traits, they must be gender ambiguous and covered up to eliminate any change of defining them as female". The world today really has become bizarre, it's like living in a clown world.
I don't really care about this game personally but what do you expect? Much of the marketing focused on the fact that the main character is hot and that the game isn't censoring anything regarding gore. If you market your game one way and then start patching out the stuff you marketed it's incredibly disingenuous. It's a bait and switch. Anyone who bought the game to support the anti-censorship approach has the right to be upset. It's not really about cleavage, it's about the dishonesty and false advertising.
yeah, straight grown-ass men need big daddy corporation to tell them what they're allowed to enjoy. Meanwhile, stuff like full frontal male nudity and bestiality is perfectly fine.
Every time I see a comment from you it’s ratio’d to hell lol you’re an idiot and you just can’t see it
I always wonder if these people are NPCs or just lacking self-awareness, how can any intelligent human say these things and actually believe it?
This is now about principle. Take the content out of the equation. It could be anything as minuscule as coarse language to any M-Rated content. It’s now a culture war at this point.
What needs to happen is a change in the industry where one group of people can have the games and content they enjoy and the other group can have what they want. It doesn’t need to be tipped in the favor of one side, especially a side who has no intention or interest in a game like this, but demands the removal and censorship of content.
Does that help put things in perspective?
What you have is a group of individuals invading a piece of media to make sure only their preferences get catered to. That’s not a balance, that’s actually incredibly selfish and this is a turning point where a shift can and needs to happen.
There are plenty of features such as making a toggle for the content to be different, hell, even monetizing an uncensored DLC pack if people want it so badly and they want to keep the base game as is for a specific group. But no, that’s not what they want, what they want is to eliminate what they don’t like so nobody can have it and it only appeals to their social stance.
How is that fair? Try to think of something you enjoy, doesn’t have to be a chick fighting aliens, just something you enjoy as is. Now imagine if I forced changes to it because I only want it to cater to my preferences and screw what you want, it’s all about me and everything should be changed for me.
Do you think you’d just say, “Who cares?”
Ideally there should be choices (toggles can be implemented easily enough), but for some reason, we can only have a push for one or the other, or as some people put it "forcing intended behaviour by removing choice".
With comics and movies imploding spectacularly, and now video games are following suit, I think it's mostly going to swing back the other way as these products aren't making money like they used to before this forced political insertion.
This is one of the saddest pathetic shit I have ever seen. The videos are so cringey. All this over 6 inches of lace.
There was no censorship, just a group of inbreds crying, nothing more. The director himself said this was the final design. Also, I am still waiting for one of you people to explain why they didn't censor the more revealing outfits? Care to explain?
It is not about '6 inches of lace' you idiot. It's about promises made before release that changed afterwards because of a handful of psychotic people on the internet. It's about appeasing a bunch of men who have lost their balls and insecure jealous fugly women. The game is rated M and NOTHING should be censored for ANY reason.
It's their game. They can change whatever they want. If you don't find it acceptable you don't have to buy the game. That's how you show your support for the 6 inches of lace that made this worthwhile to you. There's a whole freaking skinsuit... but yeah, censorship.
Retards like you are just pathetic. There are far more revealing outfits, being this pathetic over 6 inches of lace is truly pitiful. Can't imagine how miserable your life has to be. It was a creative choice from the director, don't like his choice? Good. Then don't buy their game. Can't believe these people are crying over 6 inches of lace.
Weird way to say, I am getting triggered over a game director making creative decision to cover up 6 inches of fabric. I have been laughing at retards all day. That petition page is pure gold
@redemption
You'll also get triggered when the game doesn't sell well and then, blame people for not buying it after making a moronic comment such as "don't like it, don't buy it."
Is it really this much crying over ONE costume? That’s insane. Apparently the game has over 50 but that just won’t do.
Supposedly they mildly altered atleast a handful.
But tbh, this is very funny. Game was proclaimed to be the savior of gaming by whiny idiots, now they are crying because of the smallest of changes.
Crying, aka complaining about something you don't agree with
But you're right, when it's small we should just ignore it
Because ignoring bad practices when they're small never had any problems
@jambola Nah its literally crying. There is no such thing as compaining apparently to yall?
Were those article authors complaining? Ya know, the ones that made all these losers lose their shit. The like maybe 2 authors who I don't even agree with...I bet money, youd say these guys are crying over sexy bodies, but when you have an issue with the developer, its all of a sudden its a complaint, not crying.
I think both sides are fucking crying and I can't wait for this stupid arc to end. Hopefully the next one won't be as pointless...still will be pointless but less so than this one.
exactly its only this its only that, until its something big and then its too late and everyone has accepted the small stuff. People are short sighted
@Huey_My_D_Long
well no, it's not literally crying at all, unless you have proof otherwise?
and I'll take my money now if you don't mind, because I don't say they're crying, because claiming people are crying just because they disagree is really stupid
@jambola
If you really are concerned about bad practices in the video game industry, why are you perfectly ok with supporting Shift Up - the developers of one of the biggest gacha games on the market? Are excessive MTXs and gambling ok now if the studio puts tits and a nice ass in on of their games?
@Huey_My_D_Long
not how a conversation works bud
you don't get to ignore my comment and ask more unrelated questions
Complaining about extremely minor changes to a game where there's hyper violence and a skin suit, while yelling censorship is pure stupidity.
But Grummz is an idiot, so it fits.
Personally I think it's hilarious that the idiot brigade now has to boycut a good game that they previously championed. More of this!
@jambola please learn how to read, I did not reply to you yet. That was Gameseeker. I just saw your response.
My point being, everything you said, could be said from the people who thought they had to write about the sexualization of the game. You say "ignoring bad practices when small never had problems."
Here's a thought experiment. Maybe the article authors (who critiqued the sexualization) also felt they didn't want to ignore bad practices..which is why they wrote the article...but alot people deemed that criticism to be them crying...ya know when the authors are just complaining about something you don't agree with. But when they do it's crying but when u do it's criticism..
Shit I should have made it shorter. I already know you can't read. My apologies
@jambola love the 4 upvotes you got addressing the wrong person.
Say what you want, I still think is worthless cry, because it's a dumb thing to be upset about. Die on a worthless hill my dude.
some gore elements have been removed also, what makes it worse is shift up made a statement saying no version worldwide would have censorship, then it did. This is the issue.
What amazes me is how a few out there can ruin the experience for the majority. These companies cater to the few and the majority just suck it up. Like I said in a previous post, posters taken down in resident evil today, tomorrow everything else…… they always start small and ramp up from there.
But hey it’s PlayStation and they know their fans will go ve them a pass.
They added 1 miligram of fabric and the skinsuit is still there. But yeah, this is a crisis!
Did you know that all character could have been naked, but the artists self censored themselves. Highly unethical and anti-gamer.
Lol totally agree. The change is so small I hardly would have noticed without this public mental breakdown.
It always starts small and ramps up. The very fact that they altered the game to appease a few loud critics should concern everyone. I want to experience a game the way the developer wanted. Not some committee sitting in a board room forcing said developer to alter that vision to appease a few critics.
The more you marginalize it the more power it gives to the gate keepers. It validates their decisions and invites more of this nonsense into gaming.
@rlow1
Except in this case it probably wasn't sony. I doubt they care, considering some of the stuff they are ok with in this game and others.
They made an extremely minor change and snowflakes got offended. Probably because reviews were good, gotta keep the grift going.
@mrbaskerville go look at some "gameplay" for Nikke and then question if the devs feels the need to censor stuff.
I think you’re mixing up the few and the majority here. The majority of people just want to play a good game, the few want to kick up a fuss because of a couple of aesthetic changes to what was shown in the run up. I’m having a lot of fun with it and unsurprisingly Eve’s outfits or the lack of racist graffiti has had literally zero bearing on my enjoyment.
@GeeEssEff. Over 40,000 people and growing have signed the petition to revert it back. You're definitely the one mixing up the few and the majority.
"everywhere will get the same version of stellar blade"
They failed to mention it would be the progressively censored version, disgusting to do this after people buy the game
My copy got delayed by Amazon a couple weeks, can't wait to play when everything is censored 👍
If you got a physical copy don't update it! That way you can play the game without censorship, the censorship is all in the day-1 patch!
...so why aren't the revealing outfits censored? If they wanted to censor the game why only add a cleavage mesh to one of the least revealing outfits?
Exactly. They don't think. They thoughts are not their own. They just repeat what the most angry person on Twitter of Facebook says.
They have become the blue haired feminists that they themselves despised so much. The phantom menace.
They selectively censored things. Almost as if it was done by some art director for different reasons and not by censorship.
So I'm not really clear about this.
Let's assume Sony is responsible for a moment...
This policy does not seem to apply to old games being made available in the modern day. A good example of this is Ninja Gaiden Sigma II on PSNow. Game is still ultra violent from when I tried it on a trial of the service back in 2022. So that's one example of violence censorship that seems asymmetrical.
For sexual content, this policy seems to have been in effect since 2019 (according to a video provided in the article link). Well... The Last of Us Part II came out in 2020, which definitely has nudity and literal sex (and while we're at it, the violence was objectively horrifying at times). Baldur's Gate 3, The Witcher III update wasn't censored for PS5...I'm not sure what to make of this.
Either Sony is being difficult and bullying a small studio, or there's something else besides Sony's policy at play here. International regulations, perhaps. The Saudis seem to have disproportionate power with these things, usually because they fund or buy companies. It's curious, if nothing else.
It's funny you mention that whenever someone accuses them of censorship, I like to remind them that Sony made The last of us Part 2 which is the most violent game ever created...by miles.
The most violent game ever created? How about a game where you can light someone on fire, pee on their corpse and then decapitate them? Postal 2 comes to mind. Hmm, what about Soldier of Fortune II, where you can literally hack enemies to pieces with a knife, or blow chunks out of them with a gun, until there's nothing left?
Who care games okay but I feel like I already played it thousand times before worst dialogue in any recent game I played she so twitchy platforming a nightmare story so so but the combat is good now yhey sort of fixed the slow parry animation
DD2: Microtransactions suddenly appears day one
Tomb raider collection: poster suddenly removed day one
Stellar Blade: censored suddenly on day one
I know there's the excuse of "they are not big changes", but am I the only that thinks giving predatory companies the freedom to change things post launch to escape pre-orders getting cancelled is frightening?
The post launch Tekken 8 in game store and later Battle Pass is another recent example.
exactly, each on their own wouldn't be a big deal but as history has proven, the publishers will try to push things to their absolute max until they get a drama the size of EA's pride and accomplishment bullshit and only then will changes be made. Don't let them get away with things, don't let them lie to you and give you a different product than advertised.
Lol this is the most pathetic discourse I have ever seen around a game. Jesus Christ you weirdos… there’s a costume of her almost fully naked. Nothing is being “Censored”. Horny dweebs just love complaining. Go to the gym, get some therapy, and maybe you all can finally see a naked woman in real life.
For a lot of people the whole reason some people bought the game was for the costumes and the NSFW like characters. You buy the game then they censored it. For those who don't know why this is happening or understand, it not about the costume, it's more about censorship.
Gotta love the gaslighting "why do you care?" "It's just a bit of fabric", "do you really need to see digital naked women that much?". I bought the game, it's rated for adults, it was advertised as not being censored. I want the product I bought to be as advertised. That's it, I don't need moral busybodies to decide for me what's ok and what's not after I've purchased the product.
You can have your uncensored ugly women in tlou2 being railed from behind or your bestiality in BG3, so let other people have what they purchased.
Censorship is never good. An inch today, a mile tomorrow.
This is clearly a game for mature audiences.
Give us what we want.
Why pander to the vocal minority.
Aw, I'm more bummed about the gore removal than the costumes. D:
It's demon blood, that's kosher, let it flow~
(let the record show that I know that they aren't actually demons)
Did any censoring similar to this like say from a third party company or outsourced company happen with BG3, CP2077 and The Witcher 3?
It is a Rated M game not a T for Teen game. Again I hate it when someone censors a game for me. I wish this game hit the Xbox, PC, or the Switch if Sony is going to keep this up. Least Microsoft is not as anal with censoring like Sony is, PC I would enjoy the game with out being censored and Nintendo use to be very strict about censoring games with blood. I wonder what Nintendo would do if this game was going to come to the Switch? Would Nintendo follow Sony and censor or would Nintendo go with the flow. Should have just dressed Eve up as a mormon girl the way all this censoring is going on.
The logic in the article and all the tweets are ignoring one obvious thing, which others have pointed out.
There are way more other "obscene" costumes. So what is their logic that Sony made them change this one and not the others?
They couldn't even wait for the developer to respond. The developer who already had to shoot down the censor rumor about the bunny costume. I'm sure they'll say Sony censored the devs too, just kidding those tweets in this article already did claim that.
What I don't get is why they're doing this? to appeal to the people criticizing the character? They won't play the game anyway and Sony is pissing of the people who really want to play it, this not understandable at all. I don't get the controversy about the character, anyone who goes to a gym every now and then sees a girl dressed with less or tighter clothing so what are you going to do? Complain to the gym owner? This is a doll people not a real person...
Sony don't care, you can protest all you like they wont listen, us Bloodborne fans have been asking for a remake or even a remaster or just a simple update for 60fps and Sony doesn't listen and doesn't care, so cry all you want nothing will change
From what I have seen of Stellar Blade, the female characters over sexualization is being greatly exaggerated. The character design is no more sexualized than what is seen in older games like Bayonetta.
This article should not really have passed. It’s not accurate to say Sony censored the game. There’s no evidence for this.
*sigh* You know what's really pathetic?
Let's be completely real here; and this isn't deliberately targeted at just Stellar Blade, but the state of gaming censorship in general.
This is bullshit. In the 90's the ESRB was created because of Mortal Kombat and that was to restrict kids to having access to certain "things" which even to this day I understand and I get, but this new censorship the industry has become so obsessed with is aimed at adults.
Telling us what you think we should and shouldn't have or what's appropriate for us to consume in our entertainment media...meanwhile you're perfectly okay with brainwashing the modern day youth with (I'm not even gonna go there) the bottom line is that all of this has been becoming a problem across the board in the entertainment industry as a whole, particularly heavy in pop culture mediums, it's just an evident sign that we have too many out of touch tone deaf people sitting pretty in certain places that they probably don't belong.
What a load of nonsense, Stellar Blade's disk version can be played without the day one patch.
Play it without the patch and there's no problem.
The Loadout's Aaron Down writes: "My Stellar Blade tips are forged from the fires of a thousand errors, so take note of my notes when it comes to Shift Up’s PS5 exclusive."
Beauty and violence, feels like poetry.
Can't find the demo.
I sense a sleeper hit with this one.
This is 6 solid PS5 exclusives. At this rate Sony will have around 12-14 games this gen., which is right on par.
Beat the demo. It's a day 1 for me. Can't wait to play more.
