I know studios can outsource visuals and what-not and writer's rooms have been a thing in movies/tv for ages, but I never knew there were game-centric 3rd party studios that provide narrative/writing services for other clients. Interesting.

Amazing how honest a big site like IGN can be about a game when they are brutal in their previews, get rejected for a game code because of that bad preview and have nothing left to lose when it comes to the review.

Nah, IGN got a review code for Gotham Knights ahead of release and still gave that a 5/10 too.

You're implying that they otherwise wouldn't be honest but ... we've already seen so many of these types of games like Fallout 76 (5/10), Redfall (4/10), Gotham Knights (5/10), Marvel's Avengers (6/10), Anthem (6.5/10), Babylon's Fall (4/10), etc score very unfavourably with IGN and critics in general, review codes or not.

Suicide Squad is ultimately just another game from that trend being added to The Live Service Pile Of Shame.

Accurate. It's not a great game but people will still enjoy it. But there's so many jarring elements that don't make sense combined with the attempt at GaaS that make it look more of a cash grab rather than an honest attempt at respecting the IP and its proper usage.

I've not played it but I've seen plenty of videos, and I just can't believe it's supposed to be part of the Arkhamverse. The tone, the look, the "humour". None of it fits that universe.

I don't know what to say to this. The problem is, the people making these decisions aren't the ones who get cut. It's always the devs who are tasked with doing their bidding. How can we make sure the right people get held to account?

I always vote with my wallet. If I don't like something, I won't buy it. I don't let any console bias get in the way of that. Doesn't matter if it's Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or any other company. If people don't purchase games, it will impact the company's bottom line, which in turn will put pressure on people in charge of making decisions because at the end of the day the board members and the shareholders only care for money. So if they are not getting enough return on investment, they will have to change directions. Kind of like how recent articles regarding Sony's plan of GAAS games seems to have gone through some restructuring.

On a separate note, there should be a balance between great SP games and GAAS games. Both can thrive in the gaming world. Companies need to realize that everything does not need to be turned into a live service game.

The problem is most of you on this site are in an echo chamber and are disconnected from the "average gamer" who are the ones who shell out the most money and dont keep up with gaming news. So it won't be a surprise that this game will probabaly still sell.

I can't believe the idiots left at Rocksteady had a winning concept here and decided to go with this garbage that no one polled outside of an insane asylum would want.

They literally had the perfect stepping stone from Arkham Knight. With Batman presumed dead and in hiding, he'd have been missed by Braniac's control along with Wonder Woman who is immune. Batman and Wonder Woman (playable character in certain segments) have to take down the Justice League. They could have Batman make a suit or any contrived gadget to be immune to the control. Big moral and emotional conflict arises between them when she discovers Batman's Babel protocols to kill the Justice League in such an event. Batman teams up with the Suicide Squad, who along with Amanda Waller, believe the Justice League have to be killed. Wonder Woman believes they can be saved despite Flash's confession under the lasso that they have to die. Alfred pleads caution to Batman, and in a reverse to Arkham City where Alfred is the one to insist Batman must save Gotham, this time it's Batman who tells Alfred that his rule has to be broken and the League have to die for the fate of the world.

Batman and Wonder Woman's rift grows as one or two league members are killed. Batman and Wonder Woman fight. Evil Superman intervenes. They lose round 1 against him and Batman's device to protect himself from control is destroyed.

Alfred realises why Batman is so determined to end the threat at all costs and informs Wonder Woman that Batman is actually afraid of what would become of the world if he were to be under Braniac's control: a human who could kill the most powerful beings on earth with preparation.

So many things they could have done here. Plot twist where they free Flash from mind control and realise it's possible. Batman sacrificing himself in a fight with Superman to save the world from Braniac and prevent himself from succumbing to control (I mean, remember Batman's power of will? His resistance to Scarecrow's toxin in Arkham Knight finale?) Final fight is Wonder Woman vs Braniac. Could have been a powerful story.

Anyway, baffled they didn't do Batman: Kill the Justice League which would have been an unforgettable, emotional experience and a worthy successor to Arkham Knight. Instead Kevin Conroy's final major outing is trash and disrespecful.

Glad to see these scores for this game. I can't wait for it die along with any notion that live service is a good idea in single player or co-op games.

You can think my idea is trash, no problem for me really and I whole heartedly invite you to pitch an alternative which I'm sure will be better than Suicide Squad: Kill the Arkhamverse. Hey, how about a Justice League game? They had them all here. But for some reason people are obsessed with making DC heroes turn evil or crapping all over Batman - even Kevin Conroy's first ever appearance in live action in the Arrowverse as the character disrespected the hell out of him, but at least that was multiverse BS. But if you think the game we actually got is better than the 100 other concepts they could have used with this same premise, well, few seem to be happy with it and its metascore speaks for itself. I sure as hell won't be wasting my time on this 5/10 game that insults the legacy of DCs superheroes and has you kill every member of the Justice League like a bad GTA V mod - all from a studio that usually delivers 9-10/10 games and honours that very same legacy.

Somehow executives think the Suicide Squad is more popular than they actually are just because Jared Leto and Margot Robbie excited some teenagers in one movie.

That actually sounds like a really good story and if they wanted to reset everything, they could just use Wally West or any other flash to reset the timeline giving way to rebuilding a new universe which could tie into the Wonder Woman game if they wanted to. I agree 100% that this should not have been Kevin's last batman. If the rumors are true, his batman will be back.

At least there's some comic material to back this, with the Tower of Babel storyline being adapted. Can't imagine ever wanting to read a comic where the Suicide Squad shoot the Justice League to death and then shoot Braniac to death only to discover there's 12 other Braniacs to shoot to death but I'll have to wait for more comics to read that.

This is ttulu getting concerning. The last non spiderman marvel.game that was good was Guardians of The Galaxy. The last good dc gamr was Batman Arkham.Knight. Thr last good marvel movie was Guardians of the Galaxy 3 the last good DC movie was Batman with the twilight guy. Slim pickens for sure this cant be a coincidence.

That's an easy conundrum to solve. Batman Arkham Knight and Marvel's Spider-Man are made by talented developers with PASSION for what they're doing. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and The Batman were made by talented directors with PASSION for what they're doing.

Drek like Marvel's Avengers and Suicide Squad: Kill the Franchise were made by inept developers with executives trying to create a money maker before a good game. All the other recent Disney, Marvel and DC films were made on an assembly line just to push out content, not to make single good movies.

Personally, I’m loving it. It's a great looking and fun coop game. Endgame is fun and it’s only going to get better with new worlds and heroes. It’s not for everyone but it’s also not a 5/10 imo. Solid 8.

Arkham should have never gotten the Fortnite GaaS treatment with damage numbers popping everywhere and loot collecting. It’s stupid. On top of that they felt the need to add Whedon-esque dialog that is sooooo tired at this point. It’s not quirky, it’s not funny. It’s just dumb.

For those on the fence on this game and are learning towards getting it, don't.

If you have the option to do so (those on PC), pirate the game instead. Do not give them a 'sale' out of curiosity or being on the fence. This allows you to satisfy that curiosity without giving them a sale.
