Cyberpunk 2077 Review - IGN

Cyberpunk 2077 throws you into a beautiful, dense cityscape and offers a staggering amount of flexibility in how you choose to take it from there.

UnSelf1268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

Day 1*

*pending ps5 update patch

NecrumOddBoy1268d ago

Sucks this didn’t get a PS5 day one patch. I am conflicted on waiting until true update instead of just the enhanced functionality of this gen.

mikeslemonade1268d ago

Cyberpunk should have been current gen exclusive, the PS4 held it back.

badz1491268d ago

@mikeslemonade

you do know the original xbone and xboneS are the weakest systems running this game, not the PS4, right?

mikeslemonade1268d ago

^It all held it back. Should be current gen exclusive.

Army_of_Darkness1267d ago

@mikes

If it was current gen exclusive, you'd probably have a bigger delay, like 2 years more in development if you're cool with that, but I doubt it since lots of whiny babies over a month delay 😁! Can't imagine a couple more years... Keep in mind bro, this game was built with last gen specs in mind.

Battlestar231268d ago

Why not higher? I wanted the game to be 10/10. I;m still getting it.

shepherdzeMan1268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

and they gave last of us 2 a 10/10 , what a fucking joke this is!

- maybe they should have got a muscular lesbian instead of (boring straight Keanu) then it would have been a 10/10

MrNinosan1268d ago

Lame comment.
Did you play through Last of Us Part 2 or just following the wave? Better question, did you play through CP2077?

TGGJustin1268d ago

Oh stfu. 2077 is buggy as hell unlike TLOU2. The game wasn't even allowed to be reviewed on console for embargo. Reviewers also weren't allowed to use their own footage. The only joke here is you and how CD is limiting people from covering this.

elazz1268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

What does this have to do with orientation. There is not a single game out there that achieves the same level of polish as the last of us 2. If you then enjoy the gameplay and story I could understand why someone would rate it a 10/10.

Also Cyberpunk 2077 is playing in a society where Im sure a muscular lesbian is easier to find or technically any other type of human being and I don't see what's wrong with that. Abby was into guys which is very clearly shown in Tlou 2. Also she is into body building/insante working out as she references how much she improved at the Bench press when in the stadium. *sorry for the mild spoilers.

VerminSC1268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

Found the dumbest comment online!

Maybe play TLOU2 for yourself, or better yet, play cyberpunk!

Elda1268d ago

Your comment is immature & bigoted.

potatoseal1268d ago

The Last Of Us 2 is a 10.

Try to calm your rage.

There are 10's for some outlets. But You're seriously ungrateful. It's ppl like you why a game getting 8's or even a 7 is considered an absolute failure in the game industry. Setting up your own unrealistic expectations. A game that's been in the making since 2012 gets 9's only for someone to say "why not a 10" that's a slap to the developers face. Be grateful, a 9 is a damn near perfect score.

neutralgamer19921268d ago

Battle

Because this game has a lot of bugs and glitches(which should be fixed because CDPR are pro consumer type company)

Redemption-641268d ago

Can I ask a question? Is CD project paying for all these positive reviews?

RazzerRedux1268d ago

Are you serious or being sarcastic?

Redemption-641268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

Well, I was told by certain people that IGN and other gaming sites gets paid to give high scores.

stupidusername1268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

@Redemption-64
I understand that the ‘reviewers are paid’ conspiracy is tempting to believe in but you should stop listening to ‘certain people’. It has never been proven to be true for any of the big journalism sites. Almost no journalist would accept money to publish something that’s not true. If they’re found out they’ll never be able to work as a journalist ever again, they will be fined for not following their contract, and they will be shamed by all their collegues. The risk isn’t worth it.

Redemption-641268d ago

@stupidusername
I am being sarcastic

BattleCat1268d ago

Sure they pay. They even pay, that everybody thinks real crunch wasnt there.

Shiore2u1268d ago

Based on that three hour leaked gameplay stream, that's a fair question to ask.

DOMination-1268d ago

Of course they do. If you've seen any major YouTube channel over the last few weeks you'll have seen all the free loot that has been going out.

TGGJustin1268d ago

Well they didn't let reviewers use their own footage. And they didn't let anyone review how it is on consoles prior to embargo. Take from that what you will.

-Foxtrot1268d ago

That's...kind of f******* shady if true

Pughski1268d ago

Lmao no that's not true whatsoever.

neutralgamer19921268d ago

This review is for PC game only they're not letting the reviewers review the game on the console

Artemidorus1268d ago

If it's IGN then they get the buddy system going on give us certain things and will be more positive towards it in a review.

Metacritic 91. I think they have met the expectations more or less.

RacerX1268d ago

I see a lot of people disagree with you comment... Why do so many people around here want this game to fail?

RememberThe3571268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

They're shitty people. It's what they are, you gotta just tune them out, they add nothing.

potatoseal1268d ago (Edited 1268d ago )

A lot? It's 4 PEOPLE..... why do some people give a crap about downvotes? I am sick to death of people mentioning downvotes, one way or the other. You're just giving the downvoters more power. Just be quiet about disagrees or downvotes please. Who cares?

ABizzel11268d ago

I don't want the game to fail, nor did I disagree, but I will say this review as well as many others goes to show that gaming media and "journalist" are an absolute joke. These people have no integrity and for anyone who's taken an advanced journalism course knows that you have to put your potential bias away when in order to discuss things objectively.

And by that, there's no way in the world that any other game would get the benefit of the doubt, unless there reviewers had a clear bias towards seeing it win, where it can have sevveral glitches & bugs per hour, and on occasion crashes and still get 10/10's and 9.0/10s.

There's nothing wrong with making a comment saying once the issues are ironed out this game could easily be a 10/10, but with nearly every review stating they've experienced numerous issues over their 20 - 30 hours, and in this very review he had at least 1 problem every hour it's pure media bias because they're excited to live in a futuristic open-world RPG.

RacerX1268d ago

@potatoseal

I was also referring to the DOZENS of negative comments above, as well. I was asking a sincere question. You need to relax.

Sirk7x1268d ago

I'm pretty sure some people down vote every comment they see, or use a bot to do so lol. Don't let it bother you; It doesn't matter.

Nice I'm glad the game is good apart from glitches. I won't be buying it till next year though so it should be working well by then.

Cyberpunk 2077 Director On 95% Positive Steam Rating: "Never Thought I'd See It"

Cyberpunk 2077 has come a long way from being one of the worst games on the planet to being one of the best ones.

DustMan13d ago

I shelved it after a few hours in game at launch, glad I didn't refund it. One of the few games I've actually completed in the last year, and after finishing the campaigns I wanted to just jump back in from the start. They pulled a No Mans Sky and finished one of the best FPS in the last few years.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7225d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

Kaii25d ago

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast25d ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM25d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife24d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit24d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife24d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

Well they are using unreal engine now thanks to there work culture and horrific job on making cyberpunk so for the future no impact.

But it will be interesting to see what mods will be made

just_looken37d ago

7 disagrees shows how many look at one dlc that had a rip off fight from ghost in the shell and goes wow what a goat team i love cdpr while ignoring that they only made 2 games that were good witcher 2/3 in 20yrs.

But its a new world we want a criminal that support's legal murder as president/support shoplifting love toxic work environments and have a mass casualty event every other day.

GhostMirror37d ago

I’ll admit I didn’t play it at launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game now.

And who the hell knows what you’re even going on about in your second paragraph here.

EazyC37d ago

Wait a min...I swear to god CP2077's source code got leaked before. CDPR needs to stop using "password123" for all their accounts 😅

just_looken37d ago

Na its hundreds ex employees no doubt just getting there revenge.

Profchaos37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.
