Cyberpunk 2077 Delayed Again to December

Today Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED announced that the massively-anticipated RPG has been delayed again.

Vegamyster1295d ago

Bah lol, only a few weeks thankfully.

b163o11295d ago

I've been waiting for years, so a couple of weeks isn't gonna matter....

alexa69411295d ago

I get paid over $90 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I've been doing,

Omg Alexa I'm so happy for you!

thorstein1295d ago

I think the word delay should be changed to Star Citizen.

Yeah, and such a short delay so close to release is rare, which I can only think will mean we're going to people getting their hands on it early. It'll be missing the Day 1 patch, but this game has already gone gold & you can't stop that train.

Logistics for manufacturing and shipping is too large a ship to turn at the last second, so there are going to be packaged games being shipped to retail locations that will just be held in storage until the new release date. This game is too big, too hyped, to keep some copies from leaking out. Gonna have to be vigilant to avoid spoilers in the coming weeks, me thinks.

Sunny_D1295d ago

I mean a few more weeks for now....

asweplay1295d ago

No probs, waiting for next gen upgrade anyways!

RaiderNation1295d ago

Same. Knowing that a next gen patch is coming, I'm not touching this until that day comes.

PrinceAli1295d ago

You guys do realise that next gen patch is coming anytime in 2021 right?

RaiderNation1295d ago

@PrinceAli

Of course we realize it. I have a ridiculous backlog to catch up on anyway. The last thing I want to do right now is get into a massive open world game such as this. I have too many other games to finish first.

TheScotsman1295d ago

Worth the wait for the next gen versions for sure

sagapo1295d ago (Edited 1295d ago )

Yeah, me too.

Skuletor1295d ago

You do know you can plug your pc into your tv right?

RangerWalk2671295d ago

CD Project Red said the upgrade for the Series X will be ready on the 10th of November. At least that's what I remember reading.

Relientk771295d ago

October 5th: Game goes gold

October 27: We are delaying the game again

Geez dude lol hopefully the release date stays in December of this year now.

-Foxtrot1295d ago

Hopefully despite going gold any improvements they do now will be on the disc, not in a huge update.

Zhipp1295d ago

I don't think that's any option anymore. The best you can hope for is that the patch won't be especially huge.

IanTH1295d ago

Definitely not an option. 1st, they mention this is going into the "Day 0 patch", which is already what they were working on when aiming for the November release. But secondly, going "gold" refers to "gold master", which is the code deemed good enough to be pressed onto a master disc from which all other copies will be based upon.

So whatever the code base was back when they said the game went gold is what is on the disc, without question. The disc pressing and cases are already in production, there's no stopping that train once it has left the station. This just means a more robust Day 1 patch.

dumahim1295d ago

Well, that confirms day 1 patch.

SyntheticForm1295d ago

Got ungolded back to silver.

Hopefully it stays silver and this is just for next gen.

December

CDRED: We decided to cancel Cyberpunk you bitches. Kiss our ass(es)

NeoGamer2321295d ago

For me, the game is done when it is done. I would rather have a great game experience then a mess that disappoints. Batman Arkham Origins, I played 3/4 of the way thru the game and then a game save bug corupted my save. Haven't bought anything Batman since.

King_Noctis1295d ago

Really disappointed by this news. But CDPR must have a good reason for delaying this yet again. I still trust them, and I also hope this will be the last delay.

Elda1295d ago

A sometime in 2021 release date.

SullysCigar1295d ago

Starting to feel like that, huh.

kythlyn1295d ago

I'd be okay with that if it meant less crunch for the devs, but it wouldn't.

Double_O_Revan1295d ago

Just spin a wheel at this point. Lol.

Father__Merrin1295d ago

Will next gen version launch alongside

dumahim1295d ago

Probably not. They said that would be next year anyway.

toxic-inferno1295d ago

It is intriguing though... they mention in their tweet that "the biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen and PC at the same time..."

Now, maybe that just means that they are working on making sure the game RUNS on PS5 and Series X (but that this will still be the current-gen version). But it's definitely not clear!

dumahim1295d ago

@toxic
I believe they said in the past there'd be a small patch for PS5/XSX to give it better performance and then the big update would come next year. Maybe they're talking about that small patch, but who knows until they say something about it agian.

Games That Were Bad on Release, But Are Now Great

BLG writes, "Some of the most popular games have had a rough start, with some of them being downright unplayable.

Despite that, developers have managed to turn it around for them and make their game worth playing. Here are some games that had a rough start but were pretty great."

Good list..hoped to see Street Fighter 5 there..and it is.

Vits11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Sea of Thieves... I'm not disagreeing that the game has improved in terms of content. But I feel that the most significant change between now and its release is actually the public perception. Nowadays, most people are aware that the game is a multiplayer PvP-focused experience first and foremost, and not "Black Flag made by Rare". Consequently, people dismissing the whole experience because the single-player aspect is lacking or the story is plain are much less common.

darthv7211d ago

Several years ago, i submitted an idea to Rare that would change up the mechanics of battling opponents in the game. whereby if you died in battle, you turned into a skeleton warrior and had to fight your way back to the land of the living. It was an interesting twist on respawning and would allow the player to experience both sides of a battle.

I keep hoping to see something like that get added to the game.

Kaii11d ago

They consider FO 76 & ME Andromeda to be great now 🤭

anast11d ago

Every game in the last 2 decades...

INMATEofARKHAM11d ago

It's sad that this quick retort is more often than not true... The industry's acceptance of release and patch has gone too far.

gunnerforlife11d ago

Days gone! By the end of the game I couldn't drop it down! I went around so many hours killing zombies! It was addictive by the end.

S2Killinit10d ago

That game was just plain good game. It didnt improve, it was just good.

gunnerforlife10d ago

I don't know, I got it abit late, and struggled for a few days, and then all of a sudden it just got good!!

Well they are using unreal engine now thanks to there work culture and horrific job on making cyberpunk so for the future no impact.

But it will be interesting to see what mods will be made

just_looken23d ago

7 disagrees shows how many look at one dlc that had a rip off fight from ghost in the shell and goes wow what a goat team i love cdpr while ignoring that they only made 2 games that were good witcher 2/3 in 20yrs.

But its a new world we want a criminal that support's legal murder as president/support shoplifting love toxic work environments and have a mass casualty event every other day.

GhostMirror23d ago

I’ll admit I didn’t play it at launch, but Cyberpunk 2077 is a really good game now.

And who the hell knows what you’re even going on about in your second paragraph here.

EazyC23d ago

Wait a min...I swear to god CP2077's source code got leaked before. CDPR needs to stop using "password123" for all their accounts 😅

just_looken23d ago

Na its hundreds ex employees no doubt just getting there revenge.

Profchaos23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

This is the same leak the threat actors have been trying to sell the source code after cd project didn't pay the ransom.

They didn't manage to sell the source code to any company largely because it would be unethical for say EA to buy it so the threat actors failed to find a buyer.

After they failed to make any money they went through with their threat of simply giving it away.
