AppTrigger: "Looking back at the ups and downs of the series, the limited reach of survival horror as a genre and the fact that so many of its contemporaries have come and gone, the perseverance of Resident Evil becomes a significantly more peculiar curiosity."
Industry insider Dusk Golem reveals that there is no Resident Evil 1 Remake in the works. Instead, Capcom are reportedly in active development of Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica.
RE Zero would be better to do first over RE1 because they can tie the story into RE1 more.
The original RE Remake was weird because Rebecca never mentioned anything about what happened in Zero and it felt so disjointed because Zero was developed during the Remake and they clearly didn't share any notes with one another.
Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way. Why?
i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)
I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.
A new mod brings the highly nostalgic fixed angles to the Resident Evil 2 remake, bringing the game closer to the original 1998 experience.
Because its a survival horror game not a third person shooter
Because every game in the series feels different and unique whether that's a good thing or not is up to personal preferences but I really feel that this change is what made the series feel fresh and unique to this day. It's amazing how many people I ask about what their favorite Resident evil game is and everyone will have a different answer.
I love resident evil. All of them are good in their own way (yes, even re6, which sucked (gotta love how campy it was though, and the crazy amount of unlocks, and I know people that swear by that games the mercenaries mode).
For me, RE7 was too short. But if the mansion had been bigger it would have been perfection.
And lastly, graphically, I feel like RE pushes the envelope. I remember RE5 blowing me away (looking at you Chris’s biceps). And RE7 did the same for me. So much environmental detail.
And lastly through it all. I don’t know how to explain it. But every time. The games are just so fricken cool. The one liners. The characters. Working you’re way from lowly weakling to infinite bullet badass. How each game evolves from terror to domination.
This series is unparalleled.
(RE4, RE remake, RE2 are top for me)
I know I’m in the minority but I really enjoyed RE: Revelations 1;it had that classic feel to it. If you had a friend to play with RE5 was awesome. RE4 is a classic. RE6 was trash. RE7 literally revived the series and capcom like it or not.
