Cyberpunk 2077: CDPR talks dismembering with katanas, deep RPG systems, romance and first-person

The gunsmoke still lingers from CD Projekt RED’s worldwide unveiling of Cyberpunk 2077. There was a thrilling reveal at E3, a cinematic scene-setter that featured augmented humans, the seedy introduction to Night City, and a dude getting a good old fashioned shoeing.

First Person choice was a BAD choice.....Third person is by far the best option for any game, seeing your character is crucial to indentify yourself with the protagonist..... (but it requires double the effort from developers, that s why they ditch it often and go for 1st Person) ......... i was waiting for this game tbh, as i only play Third person games generally (and somehow i never played Withcer 3 knowing how deep -well made RPG Witcher is ) ....now after they choose to make it FPS wont be first priority for my game list

Awww, how cute.
The internet weeb thinks he's a game dev!
Tell me weeb, did you get all your knowledge of Japan from both anime and manga? Or just one of them? <3

TheDriz2166d ago

Idk man. I'm really starting to think about how immersive it is going to feel in first person. I want to be in that cyberpunk world not just play a character in the world. Stop thinking of it as the Witcher 3 in a new setting. It's not that. This is Cyberpunk 2077.

RememberThe3572166d ago

I was watching the DF video on the behind closed doors footage, and the guy who saw the play through said the game looked like a huge Deus Ex game of sorts. Games like that should be first person. With how dense they can get and how detailed they are, I think the first person was exactly the right decision.

digital foundry said based on what the saw of the demo, third person just wouldn't fit, its built around first person

Gatsu2166d ago

Come back after you have seen the gameplay.

If you played Witcher 3 then you would not be so worried. I trust CD Projekt

Antifan2166d ago

YES OF COOURSE!! You know whats best for Cyberpunk 2077, more than the Dev.

"First Person choice was a BAD choice.....Third person is by far the best option for any game"
This is where you made a mistake.

To be honest I'm kind of tired of so many games being third person and following a similar formula. Mostly though I just want CDPR to do what they think is best for their game. I've played many great games in both perspectives.

TheGoodestBoi2166d ago

How would you know? We haven't seen gameplay, let alone played it, so sod off

Count_Bakula2165d ago

Only reason you're getting downvoted is because it's the most overused perspective in gaming, and everyone plays these BS first-person shooters online with each other. Atrocious decision. Hey, include it, great, fine. GTA did it, but my god have both. I'm sick of hearing that it was a decision for "immersion" and "to get the player closer." Those are utter excuses because of imposed deadlines they couldn't dream of meeting. FP allows them to completely jettison avatar design, animations, showing your customizations in action, ect. Am I jealous and pissed? Hell yes. FP is complete garbage to me and this was my #1 most anticipated game down the drain. Oh well.

nowitzki20042165d ago (Edited 2165d ago )

Actually I "downvoted" because I have played many great 3rd person and 1st person games. So not sure why people automatically think it will be garbage. If you prefer 1st or 3rd you cant tell me the one you dont prefer has not had great games ever. Lets not be stupid here.

medman2165d ago

I trust the developer. They've earned at least that much. Shame so many seem to be talking the opinion that they know better than the guys and girls who are actually talented and making the games.

XDefiant dev promises fix to frustrating hit reg issues, though players remain skeptical

Mark Rubin, XDefiant’s executive producer, responded to an X/Twitter post that fixes to hit reg “are something [they] are working on.” Unfortunately, it’s unclear when it will arrive, as neither Rubin nor the development team have yet to provide an actual time frame.

just_looken2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Ha man what is this the 8th time they are working on this issue?

SO the game is using division one maps/assets with some divison 2 thrown in with that we can say they never really made the maps so what have they been doing for there 6 to perhaps 8 years of dev time? must be alot of hookers/blow/parties.

Notellin2d ago

It's astounding how much money they blow and this is the results. Gaming development is out of control.

just_looken2d ago

Right even when ubisoft cancelled division heartland as a beta player that game was a far better state then they push with this trash of a game that is still in a beta state after 3 years of delay's.

we are so starved of any decent fps/3rd person shooters out there it seems we will take anything even though some ps2 fps games were more fun then this game in my old opinion.

FPS_D3TH2d ago

Skeptical because it was an issue with ALL the betas and still hasn’t been fixed

just_looken2d ago

Its like they are using division one servers but they caught fire then were put together with barry/carols help from the janitors wing or some shit. Three years they still can not make it so the gun goes boom the guy gets hit then damage is applied.
