With numerous talented developer under their umbrella they really should have nothing to worry about.

darthv722476d ago

Not to mention that the PS5 will likely be equal to or greater than the X. Just 2-3 more years away but during that time there is sufficient talent to keep producing great games for the existing platform.

ApocalypseShadow2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

Um... More like greater than x as it would be made and finished a year or two from now. Basically a game of leapfrog.

As for the article, Sony is over 30 million ahead. Even if Japan blew up from a missile or had nuclear meltdown or sank into the ocean from an earthquake, it would take years for Xbox to catch up. If of course there wasn't a world wide recession from the catastrophe.

Sony sleeps at night like a baby.

"Not to mention that the PS5 will likely be equal to or greater than the X. "

PS5 needs to be better than every other console becoz its the next gen ... being equal to the xbox one x wont work.... Since xbox one x is considered as current gen..

fiveby92475d ago

Scared? No. But never rest on your laurels. Don't take your customer base for granted. I hope that Sony is not over confident. I don't get the feeling they are at this time.

bluefox7552475d ago

I'm pretty sure it'll be absolutely better than X, substantially. I don't think they would even consider making it "equal to".

InTheZoneAC2475d ago

ps5 will make xbox's next gen(xXBX1Xx) seem like the original X1 all over again

nitus102474d ago

You also have t remember that 8K displays are being made now and are available to the public. https://www.cnet.com/au/pro... Admittedly they are expensive but give it two to three years and the main discussion amongst gamers as far as resolution goes will be 8K and not 4K as it is today.

OffRoadKing2474d ago

Exactly which means all those xbox fanboys who claim they just want to own whatever the most powerful console is to have the "best gaming experience possible" will have to break down and buy a PlayStation.

WickedLester2474d ago (Edited 2474d ago )

Exactly. I love how some act like PS5 isn't going to be a thing and won't be launching in the next couple of years. I'll GLADLY continue to enjoy my Pro on my 1080p plasma TV until PS5 is released. Then I'll make my 4K upgrade. I'm not about to go out and buy a 500.00 3rd party box when we ALL know PS5 is on the "Horizon" (pun intended).

Unless I happen to win one from Taco Bell, I will never own another Xbox until MS shows a real dedication to in-house game development. I don't give a damn how much muscle is under the hood.

I think Microsoft should be more worried about Xbox game division more than Sony

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen2474d ago (Edited 2474d ago )

Exactly. PlayStation is number 3 in the world in terms of gaming revenue, they have amassed a network of development teams that produce amazing games, and the PS4 is selling nearly 3 times as much as the Xbox One because of it. Xbox is actually the company that shows signs of being afraid and they expose themselves every time they attempt to deceive gamers and consumers with their "half-true" PR statements.

shuvam092475d ago

Let's be honest here...

Worried?? Yes, every console manufacturer should be...
Scared?? Hahahahaha, look who is talking...

TheEnigma3132475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

I don't think Sony is neither worried nor scared. MS does have the software to back it up.

rainslacker2474d ago

Division itself wouldn't be scared anyways. The people who work for it, or at least the execs may have to worry about their jobs, but that's about it. I can't imagine at this point that Sony execs are worried about their jobs, or worried that the future of the PS is in jeapordy in any way. Given how important PS has become to Sony, and how exceedingly well they've done the past 4 years seeing increased revenues and record profits, I'd imagine that they will have a lot of leeway to keep the train going until that ends.

MS OTOH seem to be throwing a hail mary with the X1X, and they aren't even doing terrible this gen in terms of sales or revenue, but they certainly have lost a lot of market share compared to last gen, and that is kind of a backward momentum for the original purpose of the Xbox when it was conceived by Gates back in the day.

FinalFantasyFanatic2474d ago

Yep, Sony have it locked in this gen, I honestly can't see any reason for them to panic.

If they drop the price for the pro to $350, it might be the other way around.

Deep-throat2476d ago

Sony doesn't even do Pro bundles, they might discontinue the thing.

Nyxus2476d ago

"Sony: 1 in 5 PS4s Sold Are PS4 Pros; Selling Better Than Expected"

http://www.dualshockers.com...

UCForce2476d ago

Now you are just being over dramatic. The Pro is still PS4. Like I said before, PS4 is Sony main creation right from the start and Pro is only for those who looking for a graphical and performance upgrade. That's about it.

LP-Eleven2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

Yet, the biggest bundle to release in the next month is a Pro one. I'll never understand why you don't do some sort of research before hitting "ADD".

OT: No, Sony shouldn't (and likely ISN'T) worry about the X1X at all. They're in a very good spot, right now. Cheaper box, plenty of power, and most importantly, a plethora of games out + on the way. Coast to 2019, unveil the most powerful console of all (PS5), and repeat everything that went right with the PS4.

2475d ago
ocelot072475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

Right......Sony don't do PS4 Pro bundles according to this guy.

I take this new white PS4 Pro Destiny 2 bundle complete with Destiny 2 game and season pass available to pre-order now is fake then?

http://www.game.co.uk/en/gl... Yer am willing to bet this bundle alone will probably sell a few million consoles for Sony.

Or this FIFA 18 PS4 Pro bundle complete with FIFA 18 Ronaldo Edition I guess this is fake as well right? Again FIFA pretty big game series sells millions of copies each year. Yer this bundle will probably be a big hit with parents this Christmas.

http://www.game.co.uk/en/pl...

Let's not forget that there is a very big chance in fact I am certain there will be a Pro bundle with Star Wars and one for COD later this year. Another few million sales right there.

itsmebryan2474d ago

They need to because x1x makes the pro unnecessary. With the X1X what is a good reason to buy the Pro? For a few exclusives? It makes more sense to have a cheaper standard PS4 for exclusives.

notachance2474d ago

deep-throat, you might want to use google first before embarrassing yourself with every comments you've made

FinalFantasyFanatic2474d ago

@Deep-Troat,

It's probably pointless asking, but how did you come to the conclusion that they discontinue the PRO?

AmUnRa2474d ago

Thats not true and you know it...This "they might discontinue the thing."
No, they wont, they are not Microsoft, they where dumping almost only Kinekt crap in the last 3 years on the xbox360

If only they had some exclusives to bundle the Pro with? I actually think that if Sony is smart, they can use the X1X release to sell more Pros.

FinalFantasyFanatic2474d ago

True, just a bit of smart marketing and hit the X1X at it's weakest points like price and games library should be enough to really sell the PROs. They could do a price drop, but it's hard to say whether they need to do it.

RegorL2474d ago

Just realised, they do not really have to drop the price of the Pro, it is already $100 cheaper than XBox One X.
What if they instead dropped the price of the Slim?

They already have the PS4 Slim with one game for $269.99 including Uncharted 4 but what if they go for $199.99?

ThinkThink2476d ago

Yes and no. the X1 isn't going to turn the tides with regards to number of systems sold. Sony has won this generation. What sony might need to worry about are their 3rd party royalties from games sales as people who play multiplats may opt for the X1X version. So theres some potential stolen sales with that regard but it's not going to be astronomical.

LP-Eleven2475d ago

Nope. With a gap of up to 30 million consoles over the X1, that tide won't turn either. More power isn't going to cut it. To change the minds of the mainstream, you have to change the message. Adding lipstick to a pig displays a prettier pig. It's STILL a pig, though. For Microsoft, that pig is a lack of exclusive Xbox software. No matter how many teraflops you help the Xbox system achieve, without a way to keep the brand strong and competitive, it's a waste.

Outside of the US and UK, the Xbox is a very small brand. That's not changing because there are 12GB of GDDR5 in the Xbox One X vs the Pro's 8GB.

nitus102474d ago

You forgot to mention that the PS4pro has an additional 1GB of DDR3 memory that is predominately going to be used for the operating system. Granted that leaves the XB1x with 3GB of memory more than the PS4pro. However, there are not that many games that would even come close to making use of 5GB of memory so 12GB is just overkill.

MegamanXXX2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

This generation is almost over they don't have to worry about that. Not to mention they have a bigger install base. They have a 40 million lead over Microsoft good luck catching up with that

Unspoken2475d ago

Now that they have Play Anwhere the gap has shortened with every gaming capable PC. Ouch.

They are not only scared, but apperently their fanboys are confused too.

MegamanXXX2475d ago

My comment is reality and facts. You would say that because you're an Xbox fan

Kryptix2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

@Unspoken

Play Anywhere only allows the PC gamer to receive more games so it's the PC market and PC consumer that benefits the most. Why would I want to spend $500 on a 6 teraflop console when I could use that $500 for new parts like a GTX 1080 which has 9 and works with a cheap 450W PSU? (power supply unit) I'm better off with that future proof direction.

PC gamers tend to be smarter, they know not to buy the new Xbox which is just a feature stripped PC. Steam Link streams games unto any TV, so there's that, too.

No gap has been shortened because PC and Xbox are separate platforms. Only gullible people that get on their knees towards any piece of PR believe that.

UCForce2474d ago (Edited 2474d ago )

@Unspoken You are so predictable. Like I'm not kidding, N4G community know your attitude pretty well. Here the fact, XBox One X isn't going make a comeback. This isn't like the PS3 way. It's more about the way how they handle the exclusive. I can say MS is very bad at exclusive, only Sony and Nintendo can do pretty well.

FinalFantasyFanatic2474d ago

@Unspoken,

That's more beneficial to PC owners than Xbox, so I have less reason to purchase it now since I own a high end PC.

CannonB82475d ago

Anecdotally, the people who play multiplats (FIFA, Madden etc.) aren't the same people who own 4K TVs. Given thats the OneX's major selling point, I think they're onto a loser. Plus, those who have 4K TVs are probably multiple console owners and will probably have already invested in a PS4 Pro. For me, and probably for a lot of people, the difference between native 4K and checkerboard 4K is minimal.

The same arguments levelled at Sony about the PS4 Pro being a PS4.5 will now be levelled at MS with the OneX. The only difference is MS doesn't have the first party studios producing enough real quality AAA titles.

Sad to say, but the Xbox One X is going to fail and fail hard, IMO.

rainslacker2474d ago

I wouldn't be surprised if those players are actually more inclined to have a 4K TV than even a gamer would have at this point in time. The reason being is that sports broadcasts are usually the first types of content which get streamed in higher fidelity formats. TV makers try to make that happen so they can promote their new thing during those events, and since people like to have the best quality for their little game get-togethers, they tend to buy the better stuff. Common indicators of this would be the surge in TV sales before the Superbowl.

Granted, I don't know if they'd be the same people that would purchase a $400-500 console, as they are more on the casual side of gaming, so it's kind of a juxtaposition of technologies.

Germaximus2475d ago

hm I didn't think of that. That's actually a decent point. Although, I wonder how many of the playerbase actually have 4K tv's compared to those who don't. I would love to play the enhanced games on the Xbox One X but I can't afford to trade up for that or a 4K tv at this time.

By the time I can afford that, we'll probably be in next gen.

TKCMuzzer2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

You don't make sense, first of all for people to buy the third party version for the Xbox One X they would have to purchase the Xbox One X. The PS4 and PS4 Pro have sold over 60 millions worldwide, the vast majority of third party game sales will continue to be on the PS4 regardless of the X.
The X can not sell more third party versions unless it sells more consoles than the PS4. There will not be a high percentage of PS4 owners laying down $500 just to play third party games at higher resolutions.

FinalFantasyFanatic2474d ago

As I see it, there are many issues this late into the gen that it's impossible to close that gap, Sony may lose some sales due to people opting for XoneX versions of multiplats but not enough to gut their sales.

Ikr. What's up with all these satire articles lately. 😂

JackBNimble2476d ago

I think the question should be is MS worried about what Sony's next move is ?
MS was late to the party with this mid gen upgrade and the end of the gen isn't that far off.

Rude-ro2475d ago

I would be worried as a Microsoft consumer..
Microsoft is proving two things this gen
1. They are not a gaming company. They did not combat Sony with software. They have not made a new AAA game for 6+ years. So why support them?
2. They are proving, yet once again, that they will jump ship asap to compete with the only thing they know how to... hardware.
They made 3 versions of the Xbox one this gen. 3? Heck, Sony could just do another one to follow their lead. They will not, but if it is good for the goose.....
But Microsoft is proving that investing in their gaming console is not providing anything new. Heck, all they are doing is trying to relive their glory days of the 360 giving those games more attention than anything new.

2475d ago
Rude-ro2475d ago

@gumby
Sony makes, assists, donates resources all in gaming development while making games as well. There are a lot of things Sony has done to gameplay game developers move forward. They also, for a couple gens, helped shape console gaming.., that is a gaming company.

Microsoft... nothing besides come up with fancy terms that tries to hide they bought a game or franchise that bordered on monopolizing. Espically with their 360 push last gen.

I can guarantee they will make this console a push for exclusive software. Their pinch is the huge hit they took in the market and having the weakest console out of the two. There is absolutely no reason that exists that will bolster Microsoft in the gaming market... so I can guarantee you will hear "only possible on the x" within a year.

The PS4 slim is not a new console, it is a new form factor. The x-s is a boosted Xbox one with a new disc drive. Two completely different situations.

Bs I spew yet you are the one making up things.

Unspoken2475d ago

If either of those points made a lick of logical sense, sure...but they dont.

They have been publishing exclusives the past 6 years, and even if you don't want to recognize them, the rest of us who enjoy the titles will.

They made an updated revision to a console and full on upgrade after listening to gamers like you complain about power. Having three hardware revisions which are all compatible with each other just makes the brand stronger. The Pro was very lackluster so while they could do another, MS is already hitting the ground running with 4K and supported titles.

Why buy a PS4 anymore? It's the weakest for 3rd party and has a handful of exclusives that might be worth playing. Either get a PC or an XB1X. With mouse and keyboard support coming you may not even need a gaming PC anymore.

Rude-ro2475d ago (Edited 2475d ago )

@unspoke
They bought third party games... yes.
That is not providing, that is purchasing.

the rest of your points are just ridiculous.
The Xbox one is still the weakest console. It is the console that the games are made for then added 4k textures and resolution on. Those copies that are made for the weakest console is what you are buying to play on the one x. You know, the games that have had to cut every corner known to reach 900p max... that is not pushing gaming, that is putting lipstick on a pig and calling it the prom queen.

Kryptix2475d ago

"Having three hardware revisions which are all compatible with each other just makes the brand stronger."

So this logic also applies for the PS4 right? Because the PS4, the Slim, and the Pro are all compatible with each other.

Oh wait, you're an Xbox fanboy, logic isn't really a thing for you.

"Either get a PC or an XB1X. With mouse and keyboard support coming you may not even need a gaming PC anymore."

Actually, you still do because an Xbox One X lacks a true Windows operating system, mods, emulators, high end editing programs like Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas and much, much, more.

The fact that you even said that shows how limited in knowledge you have that you would rather want people to purchase a feature stripped PC box or should I say, a wanna be Steam Machine?

http://cdn.akamai.steamstat...

The idea has been done before...move on.

MS probably is. All I've seen this gen is Sony act and then MS react to that.

Sony just doing their own thing then MS copies. I don't think that's a winning strategy. It's always gonna be this way until MS wakes up and realizes it needs exclusives and variety to it's library.

Last gen MS killed it with good exclusives. For whatever strange reason they got away from that.
