CD Projekt Red Draws Geralt High Fiving Aloy, and We Need This Crossover Now

Since Horizon Zero Dawn's release earlier this week, gamers have been taken in with the game. CD Projekt Red even drew Geralt giving Aloy some love.

I have never been much of a fan of RPG's. I bought The Witcher 3 out of interest, and whilst I could absolutely understand why people do love it and I wholeheartedly appreciated and felt all of the love that the devs poured into the game (even down to the thank you note in the game case), It just wasn't for me for some reason. I feel like HZD is an "accessible RPG" & I'm overjoyed with it so far. Haven't had this much fun with a game in months! Everything from the controls and crafting to the visuals and sound design are all wayyyy above your average AAA. What a great time to be a gamer

I'm with you on that. I brought it for the PC, loved the packaging and goodies inside, great game run like a dream but like you it just wasn't for me. I hope cyberpunk is more me, if not i'll still buy it just to check it out, like i did with the witcher 3. What they do goes along way and wins the hearts of the masses of video game fans.

I'll settle for dlc like TW3, and then Geralt can pass the baton, until Cyberpunk 2077 releases. But Horizon is the best open world game since TW3 for sure! And an Easter egg would be nice. Maybe a mod, or a silver spear lol!

I know what game you're talking about and it's really good but it damn sure isn't no 98 metascore. When you have thirty plus years of history,come from a company that pretty much invented gaming for the masses and the nostalgia that comes with all that you're going to get a pass and have things that other games had or which aren't groundbreaking yet get treated as such hence how you get a 98 metascore

I said it was a really good game but it once again is nowhere near worth a 98 meta score just like gta 5 wasn't and just like gta 4 wasn't worth its 97. If you're wondering why I brought those up its because it's another series that gets a pass

While I do fear this could be a case of it being a zelda game finally catching up with modern day gaming so reviewers have completely over scored it for that reason, it could also just be that good. I domt know because i havent played it yet but i sure as hell will. It looks great either way.
But regardless of that there is absolutely no need to bring it up in this topic. No need to downplay it because it does look like a good game.

There's a "crazy" theory that suggests that some companies overcharge their products and use that extra money to pay the reviewers for marketing purposes and to Influence scores, not sure how legit that Is though but the signs are everywhere *Cough*Jimmy... Fallon*Cough* Show.

I like the story in Horizon zero Dawn far more than The Witcher 3.

I like the game don't get me wrong but it's world is so cookie-cutter it's not even funny.

You might as well copy paste that world and put it in any other game where the world in Horizon zero Dawn is very unique in the concepts that they've established to make it one of a kind.

The story in Horizon zero Dawn is always the Forefront every time you do a mission The Witcher 3 story always gets lost by them giving you the runaround in these weird filler missions I remember looking for ciri in novigrad in doing a mission about dandelions girlfriends in which you have to erase this dude just to get answers from him....Yea.

I would have rather the story simply focus on Finding Ciri as opposed to purposely having the characters run all over the place for no reason just to keep ending up at stupid dead ends I started to feel like I was watching that one garbage show The Killing lol .

Okay so after I find dandelion he's not going to give me that one clue to send me on another irrelevant mission.

Do you understand how amazing The Witcher 3 could have been if the tone was actually serious in the entire main mission was solely on finding this character and fighting the wild Hunt? So much of The Witcher 3 is literally irrelevant to the overall story that every damn mission is

As of right now I'm about 15 hours into Horizon zero Dawn and every main mission is about the main conflict.

it isn't just some random irrelevant tangent as filler , it is something that is significant to the core story

if you walked in on me playing The Witcher 3 you probably wouldn't even be able to understand the context of my mission.

Be like " I see you're looking for your friend I'll tell you what happened when she came by if you could successfully beat me at this game of hula hoop"

@hot- absolutely agreed the only part of the story that I actually like is some of the lore and I actually like the story regarding the contracts in regards to the monsters and mythical Beast that haunt towns, the specific story itself is so exaggerative it's not even funny after playing the first two Witcher games all of the political jargon of just essentially ignored in the third game basically puts the story in this perspective as if every human being that purchased those first two games memorized every single outline

they sometimes casually bring up incidences that I believe are a bit ridiculous to assume any user is going to remember.

The Witcher shines in regards to its presentation and the lore involved in a story and I believe that's sort of where that ends.

The story in terms of the middle parts was so ridiculous to the point where I felt it would have been better off if they skipped several segments to just get to the meat of the story , you feel like you're playing a mission to understand something in there out here sending you on the most ridiculous run arounds.

ie I came here looking for a friend "okay I'll tell you where your friend is but my daughter's trapped in the tree, if you help her I might tell you"

I was OK when that happened the first time with the Baron only because it was kind of interesting but I never expected the rest of the game to essentially be that same trick regurgitated a hundred times over.

I want people to understand very clearly the first Witcher game did not do this, it's story was straightforward no tricks , it was a specific thing going on in all your missions addresses that specific thing.

Triss one of the most important characters in The Witcher series , she is a key character and for god sakes they had you meeting her character plugging holes where rats would appear as some mini game type mission.

Part of me would have been okay if all of The Witcher 3 was simply him going town to town fighting monsters and evaluating how to beat them.

@pyro- agreed I assure you all that game feels is not a reason to play it it feels just awful but I was always okay with the terrible feel of the game simply because I like the overall narrative.

I cannot stress enough how much I hate what they did with the Alchemy.

So basically they're giving you potions and bombs for free every time you sleep.

Why even create them? Why even add all the herbs in the game just to make the potions and bombs auto regenerates? They are better off not even adding Alchemy in the game if they were just going to give it to the user absolutely for free.

I'm only about 16 hours or so inside of horizon zero Dawn and I already like creating items to prepare for a mission far better than The Witcher 3 because I actually get to do that segment in the game the game doesn't do it for me every time I sleep I need to gather the items to make it work there not just handed to me at no cost

It is just as developed and fleshed out as the Witcher so it makes complete sense. I love Witcher 3 Wild Hunt and I just completed the first Cauldron in HZD and all I can say is WOW. This game just keeps getting better and better!

Having played both, I don't think they are overtly similar though. I kind of wish there was a game that was a hybrid of those two - I enjoy the combat in Horizon more, but the depth of RPG mechanics in The Witcher 3 more. I'm still trying to get through TW3 after my save files got erased, but 20 hours into Horizon I appreciate some things being more streamlined and the bow giving the gameplay a bit more of a skill-based fell to it, where TW3 felt more dodge/click-mash. I'll give TW3 another go here soon though, I really did love the world and atmosphere even if the combat didn't grab me.
