This Week on Xbox: February 17, 2017

This week we're looking at the year ahead and chatting with some of the amazing creators behind some of the biggest games in 2017, like Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2 and many more.

KingKionic 2654d ago

This is one of my most anticipated titles this year. Very important game for pushing gaming forward with the cloud destruction in the multi. But it sounds like the singleplayer is looking hawt too. Crackdown is a game that really is in a position to push gaming forward with its destruction. I have lots of hope for it.

MyDietEqualsGames2653d ago

I'll agree when I get a hands on demo, till then, it's big talk that needs backing. I am pretty excited to see how this turns out, if anything. I want to see a completely destructible , physics-based environment.

conanlifts2653d ago

I agree. For me i wonder if the destruction will be a big feature in scorpio, but less so in a standard xbox. Its probably a bit ambitious for the cloud to handle alone.

Letthewookiewin2653d ago

All boom no substance. This should have been cancelled instead of Scalebound.

bouzebbal2653d ago

Is it me or I don't see the point or the use of a fully destructible environment ?
Can someone explain please

LordMaim2653d ago

I'll be pissed if this sucks. I'm hoping they took the feedback from the second game to heart and make it feel more like the first game.

As a diehard Sony fan, I mean this with all sincerity, there is no game im looking forward to more than Crackdown 3. I bought an Xbox 360 for the first one; Sold my 360 when i bought the 2nd one smh; and now Ima have to get a Scorpio for the 3rd one.

I cannot waitttttttttt

RosweeSon2653d ago

Sounds like your a die hard crack head... uh I mean crack down fan ✌🏻😉🤓

cleft52653d ago

If this is like every other Microsoft exclusive it will be on PC as well. If you want the optimum Crackdown 3 experience than it would seem investing in a beefy PC would be the way to go.

objdadon2653d ago

You have to be the 1st person to ever say they bought a console for crackdown and will buy another console for crackdown🤔 to each his own i guess....

gangsta_red2653d ago

It will be good to see if the level of destruction and physics will be as advertised and if so I would want to see it in a lot more games moving forward.

RosweeSon2653d ago

Those are mighty high hopes considering Crackdown 1 was the best and 2 was a decent game, Decent not outstanding not amazing not something I'd go back and play, 3 has got a long way to go before it's gonna be any GOTY contender or push anything forward if it can't get basics right it's a waste of time and money. Let's hope the clouds hold up.

The people disagreeing with you have never played Crackdown smh. They're truly missing out on such a fun franchise.

XanderZane2652d ago

The people disagreeing don't even own an XB1. lol!! Just more trolling of XB1 articles.

I don't hear much about the clouds and the powers it will use on this game anymore

KingKionic 2654d ago

Your right they didnt mention cloud tech in the interview but im sure its still a big focus for there multiplayer. Microsoft is very tightlipped currently for info it seems for State of Decay and Crackdown 3 and are waiting for E3 from Major nelsons interview.

freshslicepizza2653d ago (Edited 2653d ago )

well it will either take lots of clouds or a beast like scorpio to get this kind of boom. fortunately microsoft has both

ApocalypseShadow2653d ago

http://www.develop-online.n...

You'd better hope so. But if cloud was already supposed to be 3-4 times as powerful as Xbox one, then there really wasn't a need for Scorpio. Unless cloud, although can work in theory, was a sham to overshadow the shortcomings of Xbox one compared to PS4.

KingKionic 2653d ago (Edited 2653d ago )

"You'd better hope so. But if cloud was already supposed to be 3-4 times as powerful as Xbox one, then there really wasn't a need for Scorpio."

Its vastly more powerful for that destruction they showed.

You think that was possible on scorpio?

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Highly unlikely.

Theres no game currently showing full scale buildings failing down into pieces and stay in the game for players to use as a weapon.

I definitely dont see any reason for it to be a sham.

freshslicepizza2653d ago

and what's stopping sony from putting ps4 games on the playstation now service?

Aenea2653d ago

At the moment they have neither...

"At the moment they have neither..."

educate yourself on microsoft's cloud services

Aenea2653d ago

"educate yourself on microsoft's cloud services"

Please enlighten me where I can find games that use the Cloud for physics like MS has promised....

Muzikguy2652d ago

@Apocalypse

I agree it was a sham, for sure. People fell for it though, and are still waiting. Why have all this power in the cloud when we could just have a box do it for us faster and more efficiently "on the ground"?

Definitely a sham

@moldy

What's PS4 games on PSNOW have to do with Azure and Crackdown3? Lol

frostypants2652d ago

"lots of clouds"

I hope this was a joke...

PlayableGamez-2653d ago

MS is really good at hyping up bullcrap and when it doesn't live up they sweep under the rug like it never existed. Look at the Kinect 2! lmao

RosweeSon2653d ago

But they are definitely not removing Kinect2 from bundles. 🤔🙄😉

annoyedgamer2653d ago

Yea like 3D gaming and motion controls, oh wait that was Sony.

XanderZane2652d ago

Didn't Sony do the same thing with the MOVE though? Then completely stopped supporting it? Maybe we should sweep you under the rug for the bullcrap post.

conanlifts2653d ago (Edited 2653d ago )

I think its probably called scorpio now. Even without the destruction it should be a good, but i think it will be limited destruction without scorpio.

RosweeSon2653d ago

Don't hear much at all let alone see anything oh there's trailers from last years E3 🙄 Only Sony announce games early tho, not like Nintendo didn't announce smash bros a Wii bit early but yeah Crackdown the only contender for a decent game coming up on Xbox as rest have been cancelled third party aside No Banjo 3 Xbox really needs some games and buy another top developer just don't put them all on Kinect duty like rare.

Godmars2902653d ago

Thing is why is Crackdown 3 the only major project that promised to show what the cloud could really do. There should be dozes of Xbox title that do that. Especially if it's main purpose was to make making games easier.

ApocalypseShadow2653d ago

You would think right? I mean, besides "ghost cars" for a racing game, we have seen nothing.

Technologically speaking, it would be interesting to see. Just like resistance fall of man or mag was able to handle multiple players, I think we'd all want to see destruction on a large scale happen. But if that's the only game, and Microsoft doesn't have the studios or game line up to make more, it's really not much.

We'll see soon enough I guess.

RosweeSon2653d ago

There should be dozens of Xbox titles fullstoo there's barely a handful. Games of all shapes and sizes. Really bare exclusive wise.

rdgneoz32652d ago

@Apocalypse Shadow Loved MAG. When you got into those 256 player battles, it was fun and intense. As for the cloud, it basically boils down to a fancy way of saying servers, which MMOs have been using for years. And with servers, you need to be always online in order to use them. For single player games, if your connection goes out when you need more than just your system to display all the physics and such, then you're screwed.

Hopefully this game can show the possibilities that MS has claimed for years, as they have a lot riding on it and they are gonna hear about it if it fizzles.

Godmars2902652d ago

@Apocalypse Shadow:
Yeah that's another thing.

When Sony does something "innovative" its usually for one game. A new technology is introduced, tried out, and if - *IF* - it catches on its then further developed. Maybe, if there aren't other facts to consider such as servers

By contrast when MS does something new its fully adapted while never really proving itself. Kinect was never more than concept, as much as it's flagship title Milo, yet before they ever got it working to half its promised potential on the 360 they built the XB1 around it.

RosweeSon2653d ago

Nor do I care I don't like stuff tied into online on my single player games I know it's used for the multiplayer but seems to be taking all the focus. It's bad enough when I load halo collection and it's saying syncing with server... for my save files? or to even access the game? Nah.

PizzaSteve2653d ago

The cloud was all talk and hype. You need better hardware to run a game like this which XB1 don't have and that's why Scorpio is coming.

crazychris41242654d ago

Can we see it or are they going to keep talking?? Is it too much to ask for a 30 second gameplay clip of destruction? E3 is a long way off and a clip would ease people's concerns.

AngelicIceDiamond2654d ago

I to would like MS to start teasing images or small clips of this game and others like little developer diary of sorts here and there. E3 is still a little ways off feel like we something.

YEP4142652d ago

I'm ready for crackdown 3 ,state of decay 2 ,playing halo wars 2 , sea of theirs ... I'm good with Xbox one exclusives

XanderZane2652d ago

@81BX
That gameplay video was back in 2015 at Gamescom. I can only image what the game looks like now.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Lennoxb632653d ago

They have about an hour or more of gameplay footage out there. Either you weren't looking or wasn't interested in the first place.

TFJWM2653d ago

I think he meant recent gameplay and visuals...

RosweeSon2653d ago (Edited 2653d ago )

In the business we are in tho gameplay footage from last June? Prob looks ropey as now, specially as the game will be changing as development goes on. Sure they could make another mini trailer or something to show off some progress, people could then go wow that's still looking promising. It's been nearly 9 months and they've just been giving yeah gonna be amazing and yeah it's about the Boom... no it's about the gameplay. Don't mess it up or Xbox reslly got nothing for this year so far. Not to mention the footage they showed at E3 was prob from March/April/May in prep for E3 so we're basically getting on from a year since the original footage was created most would have game out by now if not a massive trailer, preview blowout.

gangsta_red2653d ago

I'm sure we will see more gameplay when it gets closer to release like most games.

But yes, I am very curious on what this game will look like and how it will play.

ItMatters2653d ago (Edited 2653d ago )

They showed that back in 2015 on a 2014 build and its only gotten better since then. I'm really looking forward to it. Scorpio can't handle the destruction by itself, you need the cloud.

nowitzki20042653d ago (Edited 2653d ago )

If they showed it back then and its better now, then why hide it all this time?

RosweeSon2653d ago

Microsoft don't show off anything outside of E3 these days.

XDefiant dev promises fix to frustrating hit reg issues, though players remain skeptical

Mark Rubin, XDefiant’s executive producer, responded to an X/Twitter post that fixes to hit reg “are something [they] are working on.” Unfortunately, it’s unclear when it will arrive, as neither Rubin nor the development team have yet to provide an actual time frame.

just_looken2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Ha man what is this the 8th time they are working on this issue?

SO the game is using division one maps/assets with some divison 2 thrown in with that we can say they never really made the maps so what have they been doing for there 6 to perhaps 8 years of dev time? must be alot of hookers/blow/parties.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Notellin2d ago

It's astounding how much money they blow and this is the results. Gaming development is out of control.

just_looken1d 18h ago

Right even when ubisoft cancelled division heartland as a beta player that game was a far better state then they push with this trash of a game that is still in a beta state after 3 years of delay's.

we are so starved of any decent fps/3rd person shooters out there it seems we will take anything even though some ps2 fps games were more fun then this game in my old opinion.

FPS_D3TH2d ago

Skeptical because it was an issue with ALL the betas and still hasn’t been fixed

just_looken1d 18h ago

Its like they are using division one servers but they caught fire then were put together with barry/carols help from the janitors wing or some shit. Three years they still can not make it so the gun goes boom the guy gets hit then damage is applied.
