worst comparison EVER! dont waste your time.

S2Killinit2812d ago

The videos are cool but you cant tell if your watching on a phone or small laptop

Alexious2812d ago

Yeah, obviously you need a bigger display to watch it properly.

donthate2812d ago

lol.... I couldn't tell which is which. That power isn't used properly.

starchild2811d ago

Low quality, not even lined up or showing the same place in each game...how are we supposed to tell much from these gifs?

DarXyde2811d ago

From my non-4k laptop screen, I actually thought the original PS4 GIF of Uncharted 4 looked better.

Goes to show the details are really lost on non-4k displays (and the fact that a 4k GIF would take forever to load.

fr0sty2811d ago

Why am I not surprised that hater was the only one gullible enough to take these highly compressed clips seriously?

nitus102811d ago

At least they did use a 1080p display to compare.

In the first gif set (PS4 top and PS4Pro bottom) the clouds are crisper but unless you are a compleat graphics whore the PS4 images are still very nice.

Does this make me feel like I want to get a Pro? Well no although the detail from the Pro appears a little crisper. When you are playing a game with allot of things happening graphics can enhance the experience but what is more important is the gameplay and enjoyment factor.

For anyone who thinks that the Pro and eventually the "Scorpio" will make them better players than the plebians who have older machines. With all things equal (ie. good internet, mouse & keyboard if appropriate or controller) a skilled player is always going to be better. This equally applies to PC players.

One major issue with purchasing a Pro and eventually a "Scorpio" is the fact that to get the best graphics you are going to have to get a 4K display be it monitor or TV and the specs of displays should actually be better than what the consoles actually support. Even with PC gaming you still have to get a monitor that that will complement your PC graphics card and cheap does not cut it.

The bottom line for anyone who is into gaming . Do your homework first and don't be swayed by the hype!

I was thinking, gifs?

NO way they could show a good comparison. Never heard of a 4k gif before.

Eidolon2812d ago

GIF's for comparison?!? ROFL

NotEvenMyFinalForm2812d ago

Come on people, those gifs are of really bad quality even compared to 720p... And because of the HDR what most people will see is crushed blacks on their non-HDR screens anyway.

DigitalRaptor2811d ago

GIFs.... I know GIFs...

Not even 720p videos are enough.

Not even a 1080p source is enough, but incredibly low quality compressed GIFs? SMGDH!

Sevir2812d ago

Get a 4k display and enjoy it! You'll need one for Scorpio and Pro!

nitus102811d ago

Yes and no is probably the best answer for that.

Choosing a display that will complement your console is no simple matter especially when you have to consider refresh rate, HDR (should be HDR10 for the consoles), latency, size of screen, type of screen (ie. flat or curved), distance your face will be from the screen when you are sitting down and other features such as inputs (ie. how many HDMI connections).

While I won't deny 4K is sort of the future it will eventually be obsoleted by 8K (2 to 5 years) and considering most people have HDTV's the adoption rate for 4K is fairly slow since HDTV's are reliable and most people are quite happy with 720p (most normal TV programs to date) and 1080p (mainly for movies). Most people aren't serious gamers and those that buy consoles do so for its ability to play Bluray and DVD's as well as the odd game.

gbsrnctaln2811d ago

4k will be "obsoleted" by 8k in 2-5 years lol. Yeah because we are so saturated right now with 4k content and all that 8k content is being prepped and readied for production and release. Come on guy. Quit spouting off about crap you know nothing about.

I'm watching it on a 5k mac. its hard to see the detail comparisons because gifs are shite to start with, but the lighting does look way more dynamic/dramatic/lifelike on the ps4 pro. especially on spiderman and horizon. even the building windows/reflections on the buildings on the right look more lifelike in the spiderman on ps4 pro

Wow.... two of my earliest gaming platforms. All they need is Coleco to round things out.

This is like Nintendo buying SEGA.

OtterX6h ago

YES! Colecovision was my start! I came to know Mario there in Donkey Kong before the NES was even a thing. :)

Golfcoachh3h ago

Yes such fond memories. My first was the odyssey, but I really started gaming on my colecovision. Had atari and intelivision but coleco was by far the best of the bunch to me.

Kratos_Kart20073h ago

Yes...a gamer from my era...LMAO

Coleco was good...LOL

Good piece of history here.

edit: I wanted to read it but the cookies pop up is stopping me.

This was just before my time. I do remember my mom's friend having one all dusty in her apartment back in the day.

People forget that console wars are part of the history of this industry. The console wars were started by competitive companies all the way back then and continued through Sega vs Nintendo, Jaguar/3DO/NeonGeo, and PlayStation vs Nintendo and Xbox.

These companies are across oceans and competing for the same business. These companies created the console wars, not crazy fanboys.

anast5h ago

Console wars are fun. It's fun to be a fanboy too. I don't get what's wrong with any of this as entertainment.

darthv725h ago

Young kid school yard banter was fun. 30-40+ year olds still doing it is just disturbing. Many my age (50+) grew out of that a long time ago. We may still have our preferences, but we also embrace a more central position because there is a lot to enjoy on a wide range of genres and systems.

You'll understand one day and then things will forever change.

Petebloodyonion3h ago

The only thing back then was that the game would still appear on competing platforms.
Remember the Coleco Vision could play Atari2600 games via an Expansion modude.

jznrpg7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

I had both. Snafu on Intellivision was addicting as hell. Also had Colecovision which had Time Pilot. Combat was probably my favorite Atari game and both Atari and Intellivision had similar games like Pitfall and Jungle Hunt. It’s been so long I don’t really remember which game I liked bettter out of those but I did play my Intellivision a bit more than Atari though I’m not sure why besides Snafu. That was 40+ years ago damn I’m old lol

Dagexon6h ago

Ahh you're making me all nostalgic! Not old enough to have played these on original hardware but my first console was a bootleg console from Costco that had a bunch of intellivision and atari games. Then had a lot of fun with intellivision and atari collections on ps1 and 2.
Snafu was one of my favourite games and me and my partner still occasionally play it to this day
