If xbox scorpio is 450/600$ ps4 neo is gonna be destroyed

Aloy-Boyfriend2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

If it is $100 more expensive than Neo it won't

Moe-Gunz2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

Games, price, brand > power. It won't be destroyed. People putting too much emphasis on power. I'm not say Xbox won't pick up steam but destroyed? Come on now.

Rimeskeem2873d ago

If NEO comes out a year before Xbox scorpio who the hell cares? By the time scorpio comes out you can have a PC capable of 8 teraflops and play all the xbox games.

PizzaSteve2873d ago

Yeah just like XB1 is destroying PS4 in sales and exlcusives right. /s

gamerswin242873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

Lol some of u really live in fantasy world smh. Give it up already its embarrassing.

Just like PS3 came out a year later and was several hundred more than 360 and was destroyed right? Go check facts even though ps3 was way more it outsold xbox 360 upon its release world wide almost every single month. Ps Neo will obviously be cheaper than Scorpio and destroy just like PS4 is slaughtering just like PSVR demand is high. Sony is a beast :) ppl want the best exclusives and hardware :)

Silly gameAr2873d ago

You boys have way to much faith in the Scorpio.

2873d ago
King_Lothric2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

How? NEO is supposed to release this year and Scorpio holidays 2017. By the time Scorpio releases, NEO could be 299 or we even could see the announcement of the PS5.

Funny to see how the people that preached "power doesn't matter" are now betting their hopes only on power. How contradictory.

yeahokwhatever2873d ago

If sony didnt sell another system for FOUR YEARS STRAIGHT, Xbox might catch up to PlayStaton.

2873d ago
MagicBeanz2873d ago

LOL, "destroyed". Apparently there's a new meaning for the word destroyed.

morganfell2873d ago

All that extra power will make a difference.

After all, look how the original Xbox crushed the PS2.

Oh wait...

And if they cost the same,

http://vgsales.wikia.com/wi...

Microsoft will win.

Oh wait again...

https://cdn1.tekrevue.com/w...

its_JEFF2873d ago

There's been a lot put into how "power" is gonna win this or that... but really it's only us, the hardcore, that it matters to... and some hardcore don't even really care about it that much, not enough to make them switch ecosystems. Which ever console catches on with the general public is gonna be the one that takes it. At the start of this generation it was about the "policies" of the consoles that swayed the general public, only later did "power" and "resolution" come into play.

Yetter2873d ago

@Moe-Gunz

Its all about public perception. If MS can get 'the most powerful console ever made' to stick, then its gonna sell very well

Deadpooled2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

Also Teraflop don't mean jack, what if the rest of the components inside are rubbish? get the full picture first before jumping to conclusions over this teraflop waffle, MS (and Sony) have yet to release full specs.

And power doesn't mean anything if the games are shite. Games are what sell consoles, not power, not teraflops. Look at that list morganfell posted, ps2 specs not even top in most rows yet how many consoles were sold??? 155 million, massacred the competition.

cd12873d ago

You obviously hope so but i doubt it, if Neo can output games at 1080/60 with lots of pretty stuff going on and push the high frames required for PSVR i think it will sell very well. Microsoft's grand plan of the unified windows platform has pretty much clarified what most gamers (that I know) already think, the best combo is PS4/PC.

Markusb332873d ago

Haha Nintendo could release a system more powerful than any pc and sell at £150 I still wouldn't purchase since their studios and talent don't interest me. I go where my fav studios are.

Scatpants2873d ago

Your forgetting that no one likes Xbox and everyone likes PS4 right now. Scorpio is the more powerful system though so who knows?

RosweeSon2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

Yeah that's a big IF a 2tb standard (Xbox one s white 2tb) console with Microsoft is £349.99, Scorpio the most powerful console ever isn't gonna be £100 more you looking £500-600. Microsofts pricing is crazy 2tb White Xbox one s £349.99 wait 2 months get a limited edition one with limited controller AND gears 4... £349.99? Don't know how they work these prices out at all.

b3ast2873d ago

you have too much faith in Scorpio just like x1 and the cloud lmao

deadwiseman852872d ago

Is that what you think or do you have evidence to support your comment?

morganfell2872d ago (Edited 2872d ago )

One of the most talked about games at E3 was God of War. That was an Alpha state game confirmed to be running on a standard power PS4. There were people claiming it must have been on a Neo. No. Its a Sony 1st party flagship studio with talent to burn. No imagine that game on Neo in its final state. Games. Games matter most and far and away above anything else. Was Zelda running on some mystical powerful hardware? No but it wowed the hell out of people.

"Also Teraflop don't mean jack..."

This.

EDIT: Also it is just a guess but I think Sony will want to launch Neo with a bang. Even though it is just another SKU in their eyes and not the console on which they need to hang their gaming salvation, I think they will still want a little incentive. This is why if it does not launch later this year in the holiday then I would think that February 28, 2017 is a very logical date.

@Rimeskeem
There is no need to wait until Scorpio comes out...PC's are already running above 8 teraflops with a single card....the gtx 1080 is about 9 teraflops TODAY. That's not to mention Nvidia's 1080 ti and Titan cards coming in the not too distant future which will up that ante even higher...I'm a bit afraid to think what they will clock in at.

And people with less capable cards run sli or crossfire to use multiple gpu cards to achieve their gaming needs. But it's not really about pc...Scorpio will be a great solution for console only gamers and with 6 teraflops and an estimated 12 gb of ram will do games much more justice than any console on the market today, and by quite some distance. That is it will if Microsoft allows devs to fully exploit the power, which based on their "no xbox one gamer left behind" statement, would give me some worries.

Lbolt1872873d ago

for me I can't afford an entire computer setup for the price of a scorpio even if its at $600. I do my computing stuff on laptop and game on console. I am fortunate I can run some games on my laptop though. The whole setup for a 4k gaming rig plus monitor plus a desk for all that would cost me more in the long term than a console, already have 4k tv set. Not going to say scorpio is superior but consoles will never be on par with pcs I can live with that and as long as I have fun I don't care where or what I game on.

ONESHOTV22873d ago

as a pc gamer i can say building a rig is not for everyone. let the consumers choose what they want to invest their money into i chose pc becuase i know what i'm doing and i know what i can get out of it. some consumer like console gamers dont want the full package they just want something simple that they can just game on. but as for us pc gamers we know what we can get out of our pcs so we invest a lot of money into them.

FastRedPonyCar2873d ago

I'm a long time pc gamer (i7, 980ti, 950 pro, custom water cooling, etc) and the scorpio is going to be an outstanding product, not because of it's power but because of it's power for price.

The Scorpio will most likely cost about the same price as JUST a 1080 next year when it's released. Yeah there will be the Ti and whatever the next generation nvidia card will be out and most likely the Ti version of that but the fact remains is that the scorpio will bring most likely near titan X performance numbers next year and today, that's good for running just about anything at 4k 30fps or 1440/60fps all day.

So that for the cost of ONLY a high end graphics card? It's a really attractive option to get the whole turn-key package for the cost.

medman2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

@lbolt
Absolutely...although I will say what I was referring to is top of the market, and most pc gamers are low to mid level, and are not gaming in 4k@60fps (or above). PC gaming can get expensive, but as with most things you get what you pay for. The Scorpio will be a nice, hassle free experience (we hope) that will offer great performance for price (I think, as long as Microsoft doesn't price it ridiculously).

The sticking point for console vs pc that makes pc worthwhile is the games are far less expensive, with pc you don't pay a fee for access (xbox live gold or ps plus), and in the long run that can save you a lot of money (those xbox live gold and psplus fees add up, especially if you're paying for both annually). It doesn't really work for me, as I have a ps4 so I pay for psplus, but that is a price I'm willing to pay. But I do wonder, with Microsoft giving pc gamers access to Microsoft first party titles, how many sales they're going to lose with hardware. I have no doubt they'll make it up many times over with software, but I wonder anyway.

BTW...if you did go the pc route, you could use your 4k set as a monitor...I did that with my 4k oled, and there is no going back to a monitor after that. HDR and the oled black levels/contrast did me in.

ASUS ROG STRIXX MOBO(planned purchase)
Intel I7 6800K(own)
Evga Gtx 1080 (own)
24 GB Ram (own)
SSD(own)

Aside from my GTX 980 build this is my next build which should be complete within the next month. My PC will be future proof for a good while with these specs and I do not have to worry about my PC getting outdated the minute I get my hands on it unlike consoles. True the components do cost quite a bit but once you get enough computers and parts you can sell on ebay/craigs and build PC's for half the price (that's what I do) With microsoft releasing games for PC again and some PS4 exclusives coming to PC plus the PC library is already huge I don't have to worry about starving for games or exclusives....let the fun begin.

2873d ago
Kingthrash3602873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

Why is everyone talking like they know the scorpio price?
Like they forgot the xbo was priceed the same as a more powerful ps4 (minus the kinect) what do you think they will charge for a powerful machine? And why would it be OK to be 500 to 600 bucks but not for the ps3, which was more powerful and had a bluray built in when bluray costed the same if not more at the time? Sure you guys will buy it...but it will fail becuse it will be missing things a true console has and lacking the things it's made for.
Price.. will be premium" (stated by MS)
Exclusives... are solely to draw customers to your console. It has none.
Games....proven by halo5's record of the lowest selling halo ever it is in decline...same with gears....we will see how g4 turns out this year.
This will effect sales no matter how you spin it.

Well, we may or may not know the price of the Neo but we still don't know the official specifications.

If the Neo is to be released this year it will only be to compete with the XBoneS and that will be a 4K Bluray player, HDMI 2 and possibly a slightly better performance although the performance will be mainly to support full 4K playback (all PS4's and even XB1's can support limited 4K playback) since all games developed will be runnable on both the PS4 and the PS4Neo. There will not be any support for 4k gaming although there may be upscaling.

I will not be surprised if the Neo only supports HDR10 (supported by 4K Bluray) which is a competing format against Dolby Vision HDR, which as you may have guessed the format wars are back.

As for Sony being afraid of the Scorpio which won't make an appearance until late 2017, 16 to 17 months is a long time to prepare.

DualWielding2873d ago

if it's 399 euro it probably will also be 399 USD in U.S. products in Europe are always more expensive

Thatguy-3102873d ago

NohansenBoy2873d ago

Hoffmann2873d ago

Why are so many people comparing the Playstation 4 Neo and the Xbox Scorpio?

One is a completely new /NextGen console the other one a new model of a current gen console.

Due to the bad sales MS is releasing the next console at least 1 year earlier than planned. That's all.

freshslicepizza2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

they are both the same. each is a more powerful version of existing hardware. if you have proof one is next generation then show us all, othewise stop talking.

@King_Lothric

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

Phil Spencer,
"When you're buying a console game from us, you know that console game will run on your original Xbox. No-one gets left behind. We said that on stage. Your Xbox One S and Scorpio. That's an important design point for us. They're all part of the same family."

same family.

meanwhile Andrew House had this to say about PS4 Neo,

http://www.bit-tech.net/new...

'All games will support the standard PS4 and we anticipate all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4,' said House.

he couldn't even confirm if all ps4 neo games will be compatable.

now show me your proof one is next gen and one isn't. otherwise stop posting.

King_Lothric2873d ago

Then by your same logic if you have proof they are both the same, then show us all, otherwise, stop talking.

rainslacker2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

I'm pretty sure they'll be playable on the Neo. I also pretty sure he meant that not all games would have improvements to utilize Neo's more powerful specs.

This is one of those quotes of context, and one where common sense has to actually have a chance to come in.

I'd imagine Scorpio will be the same way, because not all devs will want to target two different sets of hardware, or their games won't necessarily require it.

All Spencer confirmed is that there would be no games that could target Scorpio exclusively. The confusion came because another MS rep said it would be up to the devs, which Spencer later clarified.

Whether or not they're new gen would not would depend on how one classifies a new gen. To me, it's new hardware. But the fact the software support will be across the two, does change things a bit compared to traditional views of a console generation.

OB1Biker2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

The thing is just like Phil says xbox consoles from now on are 'upgrades' from the previous one but have the same games. It doesn't seem there will be any 'next gen' exclusive anymore from the previous model. (except for VR) We still don't know what Scorpio will be officially called but I kinda doubt it will be called xbox one *something*. Whereas Neo is officially called a PS4 by Sony. I think PS5 will have 'next gen' exclusive line up from launch but xbox 'new gen' won't have exclusive games at launch and Ms can then afford to release a 'new model' or next gen more often since they don't have to wait for long developed exclusives using it's potential. Regarding the hardware if the CpU is a new gen then it just sensible to figure out whether to call the console a new gen. If the CpU is the same gen as previous you see where I'm going.
IMO

As for comparing the consoles. It's fair to compare what is available in the same time frame IF Scorpio is relaxed one year after neo then you can't compare them now.

cd12873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

I think what people are trying to say is Sony have no need to push the next gen of console through, PS4 has sold better than expected. On the other hand XB1 has got to be the biggest failure since the Xbox division started and MS would probably be happy to see the back of it. Hence why many peeps think that Neo is an extension to this gen and Scorpio isn't. Personally if i were an XB gamer i would hope the Scorpio was separate, otherwise it may be hindered by the 1.3ishTF XB1 and its eSRAM bottleneck.

freshslicepizza2873d ago

@OB1Biker
"As for comparing the consoles. It's fair to compare what is available in the same time frame IF Scorpio is relaxed one year after neo then you can't compare them now. "

give it a rest. the ps3 was released one year after the xbox 360, was it unfair then to compare the two? this is all starting to sound like some people don't like the idea that maybe xbox scorpio will be more powerful than the ps4 neo so they want to tell everyone that scorpio is next gen while neo isn't even though both compnaies have said neither will be having exclusives.

Get off it. They both are the same thing.

King_Lothric2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

They are not. One is a mid gen upgrade and the other is a complete new next gen console. Why even deny this simple fact?

freshslicepizza2873d ago

both microsoft and sony have said neither will offer exclusive games, so again i want people to show me where they get the facts one is next gen and the other isn't. some probably want to believe one is next gen because they don't want the ps4 to now be less powerful.

starchild2873d ago (Edited 2873d ago )

@King_Lothric

Because it isn't a fact.

What you are claiming defies all logic and everything that has been said about both machines. They are both mid-gen upgrades. Neither of them have their own OS, their own periferals, nor their own games. They simply do not represent a new console generation in any important way. They are simply more powerful versions of the base PS4 and XB1.

Kingthrash3602873d ago

Phil said 3rd party devs can do as they choose when it comes to exclusive games for scorpio.
Sony put out a doc to all devs to say nothing exclusive for neo at all.

One says yes, the other says no.
But no worries, when you see for yourself you'll just act like you never cared.

Because they are the same thing? Dunno why people are desperate to say the Scorpio is different. Is it because info atm suggests that Scorpio dominates Neo spec wise? If Neo's specs are upgraded, does that make it a next gen console too?

10 Biggest Xbox Mistakes of All Time (So Far)

The Xbox brand has done a lot of good over the years, but their various blunders are pretty wild to look back on in their magnitude.

culturedvultures.com
piroh4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Ironically number 9 can save them at this point (releasing games on multiple platforms)

ChasterMies2d ago

By “save them” you mean make more profit for Microsoft. Xbox will still be a dying hardware platform.

OtterX3d ago

You could add the naming scheme for the consoles, it just confuses customers. I know they wanted to avoid traditional numbering bc it would always be lower than their competitor, but this whole 360 then One then Series thing is confusing af. Imagine a Soccer Mom trying to figure this stuff out. I still mistakenly call the Series X the One from time to time on accident.

RNTody3d ago

Don't forget about the Xbox One, Xbox One X and Xbox Series X! Good luck to Soccer moms around the world.

S2Killinit2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

They did that on purpose to confuse and direct attention away from the generational numbering.

MS doesn’t like reminding people that they joined the industry after others had already been involved in gaming.

For instance, they called the xbox “360” to combat PlayStation “3” because they wanted to seem like “more” than “3”, so instead of xbox 2, they opted for xbox 360. Also this had the additional benefit of selling consoles to uninformed parents who might purchase a “360” instead of a “3” by mistake, or because they thought 360 was more than 3. Kind of a disingenuous move.

They have been continuing with their confusing naming patterns for pretty much the same reasons. Frankly, it fits with who and what they are as a brand.

FinalFantasyFanatic2d ago

I can understand their reasoning, but whoever came up with that naming scheme should be fired, bad naming schemes have killed consoles (I'm pretty sure it was the major reason for the downfall of the WiiU). They should have had unqiue names like Nintendo and Sega have had for their consoles, far less confusing for the consumer.

Cacabunga3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Phil Spencer is the worst that has happened to Xbox.
They built a respectable brand up to Xbox one. Then this guy took over and things became a joke

Reaper22_3d ago

He still has his job. Something you can't say about Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga3d ago

Both bad execs. One is on job and one thankfully retired.

FinalFantasyFanatic2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I didn't like either person, both people damaged their respective brands and produced worse outcomes, but Phil did save the Xbox brand from being retired by Microsoft. Although in hindsight, he should have just let it die, rather than languish in limbo like it is now.

Rainbowcookie1d 16h ago

Yeah but the one that was "bad" didn't even affect sales.

bunt-custardly3d ago

Phil Spencer was also on the team back when 360 was around, alongside Shane Kim, Peter Moore etc. I think the damage that did the most harm was the Don Mattrick "Always Online" console (ahead of its time basically). They handed Sony and Nintendo a free-pass when that was revealed. It went downhill from there. Then the corporate machine went into full swing to try and recover. They have to a degree as a games company for the masses, and less so for the core gamer. Outside USA, the Xbox brand does not sell as well as Japanese based consoles (citation needed).

Cacabunga3d ago

Want a decision maker. The always online and TV plans was a disaster yes, but they caught up by announcing 1st party games that gamers actually kept the hype going.. until this moron took over and introduced the PC day one release.. e all know where that ended..

S2Killinit2d ago

I dont think they were ever a respectable brand, not since the beginning, when their goal was never to be involved and share in the gaming space. I think the OG xbox was an exception because MS as a brand was still getting its foot in and so the people behind that were people of the gaming industry.

FinalFantasyFanatic2d ago

The 360 was the brand in its prime though, everything went downhill towards the end of that generation. Its staple games like Halo, Forza and Gears are what kept the console relevant and afloat for so long.

MaximusPrime_3d ago

Really good video.

I remember the days with RRoD was big news on here, N4G.

Microsoft had it turbulence number of years.

Looking at the success of Sea of Thieves despite being 6 years old, time to release Halo, Forza horizon 4 & 5 on PS5. It'll help their revenue

shinoff21833d ago (Edited 3d ago )

2 of the 4 games they did already sold really well. So it's definitely going down. Idk about halo or forza but I feel those studios they've bought in the last 5 years, their coming

ChasterMies3d ago

I found this video painful to watch. Can someone list them out?

Top 10 for me from are:
1. 2013 reveal presentation
2. Bundling Kinect 2 with Xbox One
3. RRoD or why rushing to market with hardware is always a bad idea.
4. Buying studios only to close them.
5. Ads on the Home Screen
6. Letting Halo die.
7. Letting Geard of War die.
8. Every console name
9. Charging for Xbox Live on Xbox 360 when Sony let PS3 players play online for free.
10. Cancelling release of OG Xbox games after the Xbox 360 launched.
