The People Making Cyberpunk 2077 Would Like To Correct A Misconception About Game Development

Nathan Grayson:

"A couple weeks ago, a rare dribble of info about Witcher creator CD Projekt’s next game, Cyberpunk 2077, hit the web. Multiple outlets reported that CDP is not working on the game in earnest, that they have to complete a major dev tool overhaul first. Problem: that’s not how game development works."

Something of a relief, the fact he would actually go out of his way to correct that means we might get Cyberpunk before the actual year 2077!

He shouldn't have to correct obviousness if we didn't have crappy media....

EazyC2939d ago

I agree. The standard of fact-checking, prudency and overall writing quality in games journalism is simply atrocious.

Christopher2939d ago

I think we need to create a word other than media for many of the gaming sites out there. It's really online tabloids.

@Chris

But T4G kind of looks like a lame social media way to spell tag.

High-end graphics have become so complex, a Universal Game Engine could be a help, where all, thousands of game engine developer, engineers pool their resources and expertise to make one Universal, efficient, easy to use, quick, fast, game engine. Maybe a Vulkan based game engine could the solution, no more split API and Engine, both API and the Engine would fused, making a super-efficient engine.

I'm just calling it Cyberpunk 2017 from now on. LOL

First if you have to qualify your correction of a statement with the word necessarily it means that it can and has happened so rather than try to correct a conception that isn't a misconception because it can and has happened maybe just say that's not the case in our situation (as the CDP said) and don't make a blanket statement of your own about how it's not how it works except "necessarily" stupid editorializing like that is why this information needed to be corrected.

annoyedgamer2939d ago (Edited 2939d ago )

I can't wait for this game, at least we have Deux Ex in the meantime.

Kingdomcome2472939d ago

Mankind Divided is my most highly anticipated game, by a wide margin. I forsee it being one of this gen's watershed moments, and defining games.

cyberwaffles2938d ago (Edited 2938d ago )

That's another epic game I can't wait for. But the graphics do seem a bit downgraded but maybe that's just me.

XDefiant dev promises fix to frustrating hit reg issues, though players remain skeptical

Mark Rubin, XDefiant’s executive producer, responded to an X/Twitter post that fixes to hit reg “are something [they] are working on.” Unfortunately, it’s unclear when it will arrive, as neither Rubin nor the development team have yet to provide an actual time frame.

just_looken3d ago (Edited 3d ago )

Ha man what is this the 8th time they are working on this issue?

SO the game is using division one maps/assets with some divison 2 thrown in with that we can say they never really made the maps so what have they been doing for there 6 to perhaps 8 years of dev time? must be alot of hookers/blow/parties.

Notellin2d ago

It's astounding how much money they blow and this is the results. Gaming development is out of control.

just_looken2d ago

Right even when ubisoft cancelled division heartland as a beta player that game was a far better state then they push with this trash of a game that is still in a beta state after 3 years of delay's.

we are so starved of any decent fps/3rd person shooters out there it seems we will take anything even though some ps2 fps games were more fun then this game in my old opinion.

FPS_D3TH2d ago

Skeptical because it was an issue with ALL the betas and still hasn’t been fixed

just_looken2d ago

Its like they are using division one servers but they caught fire then were put together with barry/carols help from the janitors wing or some shit. Three years they still can not make it so the gun goes boom the guy gets hit then damage is applied.
