Severed review - Polygon

Polygon: Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack was the first game I ever loved on PlayStation Vita. It was a charming, smart little game with a distinctive art style that looked dynamite on the new...

I spent the last couple days diving into it and yesterday pouring a large amount of time into the world. Severed is amazing and one of the best Vita games around. The first person Dungeon Crawler aspect brings back that classic PC feel but at the same time the exploration feels exciting and you wanna search every nook and cranny. I love the crafting system and the combat. There are a few parts that were extremely challenging but overall it was manageable and the boss battles are excellent. I put about seven and a half hours into this and finally achieved that awesome platinum trophy. I would say that the story is really well put together the environment is amazing as well. Just like Guacamelee this has a dark theme centered around what feels like Mexican lore and fantasy and it's just so cool. The ambiance and the music and all the characters that you meet through out and just fit so well in the world. For me it's a 10 out of 10 Vita game and a must-buy and if you're a Vita owner and you don't buy this shame shame because it is really incredible. Everyone needs to show drink box that they didn't waste their time on the Vita because the PlayStation Vita is freaking awesome 100% an outstanding handheld system and this game is definitely a handheld game of the year are really up there with one of the best games of the year.

It's probably because i didn't like guacamelee but i don't like the art style of this game at all. I'd rather be playing something like stranger of sword city, which is a difficult but awesome first person dungeon crawler. I do love my vita though, it has tons of great games, ps4 is catching up now but for a little while longer i still play my vita more than my ps4.

It's a lonely but fun place - Top 10 PlayStation Games Stranded on Vita Island

"When PlayStation Vita released in 2012, expectations were high as Sony's previous handheld (PSP) was quite successful even if it could never quite match with Nintendo's handheld juggernauts." - Tyler Hall from Video Chums

I would have added Killzone Mercenaries to the list. Overall, good list.

It’s not stranded until 2019, if people really wanted to get some great experiences out the way then they’d buy it. But there are so many stubborn people that made their mind up that won’t happen.

You can go on eBay, OfferUp it any social market place and get one from 70-120 WITH memory card and the games are dirt cheap. But I bet people feel like buying their 5th 3DS for 200 plus because of its color is better then checking out great games.

I guess it’s not always about the games

I could just never find one after I got a stable income, could find games all over the place though

Quite a few of the games aren't dirt cheap. Guess it depends on what you like though. The Japanese anime games tend to hold their value quite well.

One can get digital games pretty cheap a lot of the time, and if they were smart, they'd have added all those vita games on PS+ over the years, and have quite an impressive backlog when they get their system.

What’s The Traveler doing on this list? Sony owns the IP to Journey.

Severed - Switch Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:

DrinkBox Studios is one of my favorite smaller development teams. They have a knack for merging cool gameplay mechanics with bright, colorful visuals that I happily spend hours with at a time. Severed is no different - in fact it may be their best overall effort yet. While it is true that this title has seen some prior releases, it plays better on the Switch than any of its prior platforms.
