Witcher 3: A mature game docked points for sexual content

Mike Miller writes - "In Polygon’s otherwise stunning review of one of the most anticipated games of 2015, the reviewer complains about violence towards women and over-sexualization of its female characters. My curiosity swelled and I looked up the character model of Ciri, whose “shirt is unbuttoned in the middle showing part of her bra.” When I saw the images, I was taken aback. Not by CD Projekt Red but by Polygon."

*Laughes hysterically*
Polygon is stupid! this game gets points taken away because part of her bra is shown? it's her strap on her bra showing, that's it. Wow polygon, you put the 's' in stupidity. LMFAO

thekhurg3299d ago

Polygon has a long standing history of scoring games in a controversial manner to generate web traffic for ad revenue.

n1kki63299d ago

They have also admitted the the writers of the reviews do not actually score the reviews, which is even more ridiculous.

Myze3299d ago

Actually they have a long standing history of not just scoring games controversially for traffic, but basically everything they write is click-bait, ridiculous articles.

Bimkoblerutso3299d ago

Vox Media in general is a wash of PC bullcrap. They're nothing but a front for hyper-liberal agenda pushing.

...and I honestly consider myself quite liberal.

mabreu3298d ago

I totally agree with the author here.

I admit, I'm not a fan of "over-sexualized" characters in games, but this is stretching it.

I guess Polygon is desperate for views.

Lord_Sloth3298d ago (Edited 3298d ago )

This article is awesome! I love this site! I'm all for calling out PG on their bs.

morganfell3298d ago (Edited 3298d ago )

I do disagree with this article on one point:

"While I don’t agree that anyone’s opinion is trash..."

I'm sorry, but have you spent 2 minutes reading tweets by Gies?

If you will not honestly identify a problem then you cannot fix that problem. If Mike Miller does not wish to say it then I will. The opinions of Gies (and Crecente) are trash. The opinions of Polygon on the vast whole, are trash. They are a cancer, a foul icon symbolizing everything wrong with game journalism.

I remember polygon doing the same thing to Bayonetta 2. Taking points away because of sexuality - polygon you're the worst.

gamer78043299d ago

Agreed, it's a shame their review content doesn't have the same quality as their web design

BrandanT3298d ago

They shouldn't take points away because of the design. They should judge how well design is done and how well it works with the game.

OB1Biker3299d ago

lol I think more and more people get to know what this site is like and that maybe a good thing... (or bad thing for Polygon)

StarLord_Who3299d ago

Depends if the nudity is gratuitous...

Allsystemgamer3299d ago

Which in the witcher it isnt

3-4-53299d ago (Edited 3299d ago )

Finally somebody calls them out.

Finally!

Thank you.

The Review was good...and then all of the sudden in the middle of it there is the feminist rant for no reason whatsoever.

It's like they search and fine for anything that could even somewhat be considered sexist and jump on it.

* In this case, they are just wrong.

Polygon you are wrong....your abusing your voice and now it's just you ( polygon) making things up and complaining about everything and anything.

When did we let the whiny complainers run the show ?

I freaking can't stand polygon

Sharingan_no_Kakashi3299d ago

Does seem over the top. I understand not wanting games to be over sexualized, but this?

Haru3299d ago (Edited 3299d ago )

This is cd project red so it doesn't count only if it's ubisoft or EA then it counts

Anthotis3299d ago

Polygon may soon overtake Kotaku when it comes to SJW stupidity.

Vegamyster3299d ago (Edited 3299d ago )

The thing i didn't understand the most about their review was when they criticized basic RPG elements such as choice and completely ignores how men can be portrayed which isn't all that great either, it's a large world designed to have plenty of issues that affects everyone, not just one group. Excited to jump into it tomorrow.

morganfell3298d ago

Brian Crecente has been working around the clock to create the same idiocy he oversaw at kotaku. Gies is doing more than his share as well.

GzusKreist3299d ago

Polygon proving themselves to be SJW garbage yet again!

2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan53d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave52d ago (Edited 52d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
