Shoot I'd sell too. Article says there are 12,300 in existence, so that doesn't exactly make it the rarest bird in the world. For them to already claim 2k is insane and highly inflated. I would sell ASAP while people with too much money are ready to spend, spend, spend.

Because they really are limited editions. Not just a PS4 with a skin on it (well it is literally), but its an exclusive item you cant get and that makes you want it more. Would people be going so nuts for them if they made 100k of them?

I picked one up on Monday not far from me (20-30 minute drive) for £800 a little pricey but well chuffed having already got a ps4 amongst many other various brands of consoles (yes even Nintendo and microsoft-360, not an xbox 1) mine will be staying in the box but looks amazing from the pictures ive seen but would love to know what number I have guess I'll never know as it's still sealed ;) these things are limited now tho when they have sold 20 million the amount of these 20th anniversary editions will seem even smaller once they get to 80-100 million consoles sold, granted that'll be 3-4 years away but at the rate they are going theyll have no problem shifting the standard systems and making mine rarer in the process ;)
Agree with person above tho after failing to get an American one I waited all week for news for the U.K then we got that competition over 5 days ;( safe to say 5 days later I was still without tried a few other competitions but then had to resort to ebay luckily I found some local that was just looking to double their money and not make £1000's.
They did sell those few in London tho but it was well unfair I found out about it whilst at work and was just thinking wow £20!!! I would have jumped on the first train with an hour or so more notice and then found out before my night shift was even finished that the 50 for sell at retail price the following day they had already given the wristbands out the previous night, shafted! ;( haha.

Not really, watching recent sales on ebay showed them selling for about £850-900....after the ebay/paypal fees etc it works out about the same as CEX

I find consoles don't really keep value though. £200 for a brand new sealed Dreamcast may seem a lot but that's how much it cost at the time... So if you got one and held onto it for all that time to sell it now, you haven't profited from it really... In fact you would have lost money.

I mean, your minimum is still well below what they got. CeX, I guess, paid £750 for the system, which is $1,122. This is nearly TWICE your offer, yet you act like they're some uninformed boob that got some beads and a handshake for the system.

I mean, I get that you're "poor," but still, they got a fair bit of money for the system. Especially when you think about it logically.

You can look at listings and see that there are around 20 systems that you can buy it now for around what CeX paid. The only difference is that according to eBay / PayPal fee calculators, selling it for $1,200 on eBay will net you 1,044.90 (assuming you find a buyer) anyway.

It's rare, but some people still care. Some dude brought in a wrapped Earthbound to my store once and I was like, "Dude... Don't even think about selling that here." While I was in retail, I tried to inform people. They're much more likely to come back to the store because they trust you.

How much do you think the system is actually worth though? So many people here act like the system is worth $5,000 - $50,000 and the store gave them $120 bucks, but that does not seem to be the case. Going off the article it seems they got $1,122~ for it and going off eBay it seems like the system routinely sells for <$2,000. After eBay and PayPal fees you're looking at about $1,741.70 and this doesn't even include shipping, plus other factors.

So basically this person got $619 dollars less than the highest price the system seems to routinely sell at instantly without taking any risk, yet people seem to act like the only way this is logical is if someone stole it, they needed money and in your case you question the ethics of an employee, who may or may not even know that the system is rare or valuable, because of some sort of belief the person got screwed royally.

When it comes to stores like Cex and cash converters it's definitely always about quick cash. I don't want to stereotype the type of people who go in there but more often than not it seems to be either stolen items or quick cash for an addiction problem.

Hope the buyer likes my busted PS2 that i stuck in the 20th Anniversary PS4 box and then re shrinkwrapped at the office supplies store where i work. I know i'll be enjoying the £750. I also made 10 more 20th Anniversary PS4s myself at a friends paint shop. Laser etched all of them with serial number 00001. They are all going up on Ebay for £80k each if anyone wants one.

If the genuine owner has bought the Limited edition console, there is a very good chance they know what it is worth.

I am always skeptical of shops like CEX, don't get me wront there is nothing wrong with them. I have used CEX myself in the past, but when you see brand new phones, tablets, and other similar items i do wonder how many are stolen, and the criminal uses these sorts of stores as an easy way to get rid or the item.

Revenge, addiction, stolen, cant feed their family so selling a valuable asset, bought it as present by rich benevolent uncle and didn't want it? Could be a million reasons why.

Strangely some people here seem to think this is CEX staffs fault. I like the staff in CEX (having you know... been in a few), they seem to know their stuff and are usually very friendly. Plus their trade in prices are often higher than competitors.

I'm pretty sure they would have mentioned how rare it is, but said person perhaps didn't care and wanted/needed the money.

Plus if you are selling a console in giant shiny looking box for more than 3 times the price of the other used consoles, I should think its implied its something a bit special.

Bit out of my price range at any rate, the wife would kill me ;)
