I've never heard of the game, but I do know that when I did a bit of research on game engines for a blog series that it isn't on crytek, so that rules that out, Source Engine and id tech 4 I'm pretty sure are exclusive to the studio (like how ND has their own engines), they're gone
and frostbite is exclusive to Dice/EA, I'd know if this was an EA game because theyre crazy on marketing, so it's not frostbite.
Unity is mainly an engine for mobiles, although it can be used on consoles, games like Soul Saga, most indies use unity because of it's storefront and how easy it is to use. But it isn't too popular amongst full game devs, and the license is like nothing (if there is one, can't remember)
Engines left:
Real Virtuality (Never heard of it)
Unreal(good for FPS & extremely popular)
X-ray (never heard of it)
Unity (possible, cheap licensing )

I'm gonna go with unreal.

Really, grey, flat and not good looking - not even interesing level design.

In all fairness you can do some really really impressive things with unity. I know a guy who writes shaders for the engine, and fuck me they are beautiful.

it isn't, Interstellar Marines has been in development for quite some time, and I'm pretty sure it's not just two guys, also..yeah it's looks like that for like...3 years...pretty bad looking considering..

Interstellar marines was in development under the unreal engine but the project didn't get taken by any publisher so they ended up bankrupt because of the license they couldn't afford. This build is fairly new and the unity version has been in development for a few years with only 2 guys working on it, since then they have gotten on green light, been accepted, gotten a lot of feedback from the steam community and the team has evolved to 8 members afaik.

That's because the game is that old, probably older. Its been in development for ages.

When Interstellar Marines was first announced it seem pretty cool, but the FPS genre has changed a lot since then.

As for Source being the engine, its not.

Source is a great engine that runs on almost anything and looks good while doing it. tho this game dont look that great IMO.

Yeah. It's Unity. Which is pretty much the entire reason it's impressive, because this whole theme is about how far things have come along. I'm not familiar with the game, but this is definitely Unity.

The polygons are really low so I know it's not a next gen engine and it's missing things like global illumination, tessellation, light and shadow effects not to mention no partical physics or barely any physics for that matter!

No, you're actually wrong, it's a fact that the game in that video is not built on the source engine, so you're guess was therefore, wrong, you could have read the comments already posted before guessing, that's why you go the disagree's, it's not the end of the world or anything.

It was planned for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Windows platforms, with the game being built using Epic Games' Unreal Engine software. IM is being developed using the Unity game engine.

Incredible graphics have more to do with design and art direction than with technicality. This just looks like any generic shooter that could have been released in the past 5 years. Nothing to see here.

It looks like it's partly aping the Doom 3 visual style , except, for that exact reason, the aping of a 9 year old game in more sober PC style, it's unlikely to be ID Tech 4.

Has to be quite an old PC intended engine, not to forget old conceptually too.

It's Unity, and if you know what Unity is...It is a piece of crap engine, which is why this is impressive. Unity games look nowhere near as good as this does, and yet they managed to max out the potential of it.

It's Unity. It's an engine used for mobile and browser 3D games. This is really damn impressive, even if it's an old game forever in development.

Well that's the most common misconception. It's not like unity is only made for mobile or web games, it's a fully fledged game engine with streamlined capabilities for web and mobile games. there's really nothing stopping anyone from making a AAA game with Unity at all, and if you got Unity Pro the visuals can rival even the best out there with enough skill behind the project. hell i've seen and played projects that look FAR more impressive than this video using unity

Oh - to the people downscoring because it's supposedly so impressive to do this in Unity, that's not the reason that we're not impressed.

The reason is that the video states 'Incredible Graphics' as if it's always an objective fact in its own right, rather than being 'Incredible Graphics For The Engine'.

And the choices put in the poll suggest that we're supposed to think that this is right up there with the best graphics on the market right now. Which is ludicrous. There are games almost 10 years old that have a similar quality of graphics.

Those graphics are incredib.....ly terrible. The lighting is pre 2008 if that. You want to see how far lighting has come? Watch videos of crysis 3 or hell look at most of the lighting on splinter cell black list. Batman Arkham Origins is a good one too.
