It was docked marks for story structure and the pointless multiplayer mode. 0.5 each gives you the 9.0 score. Completely understandable. No games are perfect.

also, 10hrs sounds perfect to me! much longer and i prob wouldn't have finished it since i don't finish most long games (ME2 being a big exception)

What's wrong with people? God i remember when perfect scores were super rare and I'd only see like one a year in Game Informer magazine now everyone wants their most hotly anticipated titles to get 10s like nothin'.

Anything that is 8 and above is a good score and a good game.

Dead Space was a horror fans dream. Easily one of my favorite gaming experiences this gen. I would play it every night around 11pm until I finished the CLASSIC ending.

I didn't even want to play the demo..day one..GameStop preorder.

I'm glad IGN loved it..lookks like the franchise may get some mainstream love

The averge review for medal of honor was a 7 ,so i past on it. I picked it up about 3 weeks ago cheap and the damn game is better then black ops. Yes i'm jumping off the COD bandwagen. I've got this distrust for reviews. I'm on the fence about killzone like you are about deed space.

The part about Isaac wrestling his demons is awesome, but the narrative driving the search for the Marker is a bit flat in comparison. Different characters are just popping up to tell you to go there and do that. Because the first game basically copied the exact template of Bioshock, but made it in space (ahem, System Shock) and third person to trick people into not realizing it was essentially the same thing.

whats interesting is that the Dev's kept saying that Isaac is more in charge etc etc.. it seems thats not the case. I enjoyed the first game and would not change anything about it... it fitted the fact that he was a simple engineer etc, but seeing as he talks now and he suppose to be the guy who as delt with the necros before, i would expect an evolution from that roll.

I may actually get this. Hardcore mode sounds very intriguing.

One thing that really bothered me about the first game though, and it sounds like they didn't change it for the second, is how "Bioshocky" it is. Running into people who just tell you where to go and what to do, and you have to always do it for them to progress the story...I'm half expecting them to start every sentence with "would you kindly". Hopefully it doesn't hinder the game too much.

IGN loves to mark up the 360 score over the ps3 version. They've always done it. Funny how now once again the ps3 version has an addtional game included and gets the same score. So would you give a game an extra .5 if it included another game on the disc?

Nowhere does it mention Extraction is included contrary to what articles are saying from what I looked up (Yes, the "Limited Edition" has Extraction, I did not know that a Limited Edition was available). The retailers should update that information on their webpages :P

***I will say this though. IGN has remained consistent when reviewing stuff like this. MOH, NFS Hot Pursuit, and now Dead Space 2 all had Limited Editions only available at retail during the first few shipments and IGN always scored both versions the same (PS3 vs 360). So, on a historical basis, IGN has been doing the same thing consistently, but some people overlooked that fact.

MP is blah? If they think that then why do they always give CoD high scores.

They didn't even mention that the MP ties into the story and that players actually have to work together to survive. The same feeling that is in the SP is perfectly translated into the MP though.

I really don't care in the end. I was in the MP beta and I enjoyed every second of it, even though it was only one map and you couldn't rank up.

I even found a major exploit that would've ruined the MP if it wasn't fixed. So it is kind of cool knowing that I stopped the MP from being WAY unbalanced, giving the humans a HUGE lead over the Necros.

If you read or watch the video review it looks like IGN took points away for the flat multiplayer which I don't really care about anyway. DS2 looks fantastic and being a fan of the survival horror genre this is definitely and day 1 purchase.
