It's on and off mate, I've a pal who's had his for years and it's fine, I had to return 3 because of the stupid fucking Xbox one bumpers they use.

Stick drift wasn't ever a problem with mine, it was the bumpers.

Think it was RB, it was after playing Valhalla and then Elden ring and obviously those games have you pressing RB quite often. It's like they have a massively finite amount of presses, too little for me anyway.

I keep hearing people having problems with them but I grabbed a series 2 a while back and still don't have any issues. I mean I do take very good care of my stuff, clean controllers once a week or so and the console every month, but the stick drift complaints and rubber peeling, shoulder buttons not responding, etc. and everything else I personally have not had problems with regular care. I feel bad for those that are having issues but is Microsofts support that bad to deal with if you get a dud? Haven't had to deal with MS support since the 360 days.

The problem is they send out refurbs and not new controllers, so if those refurbs had quality controll issues to begin with you're going to have the same issues, I had one sent where the right stick wouldn't click and was faulty as soon as I got it. Whoever they use to do their repairs in the UK anyway are a shit show.

The first thing I noticed when I held my X1 controller was the obvious drop in quality.

The plastics on that thing was paper thin. They must have gotten enough complaints about it because they stealthily started releasing controllers with better quality plastics.

I had to buy newer controllers over the years and they feel like night and day. Still not 360 quality but better than day one X1 controllers.

PS4 controllers had quality issues with the stick rubber coming off. At least it didn't feel like it would snap in half if you sneezed while holding it.

I'll give it to Microsoft though I've never had issues with any generation of Xbox controllers. I had stick drift problems with Gamecube and PS4, on top of the sticks rubber wearing off.

Weird that Sony and Nintendo can have better quality controllers but Xbox fails to use better.

I have a Xbox series x controller for PC and when I use my PS5 controller the quality difference is MUCH different and miles better.

The series controllers don't feel cheap. I've never used one of the $200 to $300 controllers but if I am to compare the Xbox series controller to the Dual sense, it is about the same. If I compare them to cheap 3rd party controllers on Amazon it is a night and day difference.

@Flakegriffin Your comment is grossly exaggerated. There is no noticeable difference between the dual sense build quality vs the series controller build quality. I would sometimes take up the series controller to play on the PS5 by mistake and vice versa. They are very similar in design and build quality. If I was to name the difference, the series controllers are slightly smaller and have better grips while the dual sense has more features. I do think the Dual sense is the better controller not because of the build quality but because of the haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, six axis motion controls and build in microphone.

If I was to ask Sony to build a perfect controller for me, I would like them to build with the same features of the existing dual sense but instead of having a rechargeable battery inside, I would prefer they be removable like the series controllers. I used to laugh at the fact that Microsoft does not have built in rechargeable batteries in their controllers until I owned one. The Dual sense only has a 1000mah battery inside while my series controller has a 2600mah battery I bought off Amazon for about $12. When the battery in the series controller dies, I just swap it out in 5 seconds for another rechargeable battery. The Dual sense, however, would require you to either pause your gaming session or have a second controller as a backup.

@Flakegriffin describe the difference in build quality. They are both solid plastic. Also you didn't read the comment. I am not even certain if you own a series controller if you don't understand why I said having removable batteries is better than having the battery built in. Only persons who own both controllers can see the benefit of that.
