Western Final Fantasy XIV Players Could Learn From The JP Loot System, But They Won't

Some FFXIV players will try, but the Take from the Left loot system won't work because we'll always have greedy players who take advantage of others.

I haven't played an MMO in raids in a long time, but when did it change to everyone rolling on everything in these games? When I played MMOs over ten years ago, it was you win something you get nothing else until everyone else gets something, and even then oftentimes what happened is leftovers went into the guild vault for giving away in a monthly draw by need.

because a lot of mmo's nowadays give out the best loot in the game left and right. There have always been many method to distribute loot, need or greed, dkp, gdkp, based on bis items for classes and there is probably some that I haven't heard of. I've been in some pretty tight knit guilds and we just rolled it of based on who it was bis for first and if that class doesn't need it, it goes to 2nd bis etc. Yeah, that does mean that one person can get 3 items in one run and you don't, but it'll even out in the long run and it does feel like a team effort.

I’ve done rolling system in Everquest for random groups.

But for guild raids we had a point system where we got points for each raid and every time you got a loot your points started over so not just the people who were always there got all of the loot , it was always based on class and what is this piece best for class wise. If nobody really wanted it we would roll for your class.

That happened a lot because we were the top guild on our server and we all had dope gear.

Out of everything wrong with the XIV community, that's what you talked about, when I was playing the game for years, the community is insufferable but not even a single person complained about the fact that you roll for what you want and luck decides

Thegamer with another garbage opinion article. There is plenty wrong with how the top end gear is distributed in the game and how you are only allowed to progress with 7 other friends in a game with free companies of 50+, but zero of that is the playerbases fault. Any time anyone has ever asked "hey can I have X piece of gear if it drops" in randoms I've seen every single player oblige. You can't even Need roll on things you can't use, so its not like "noob healer loses rolls to high level tank player" unless they click the wrong button.
