" it's a beautiful way of getting people in, getting engaged and showing that it's a stellar game. Then people are really tempted to buy more. So the business model really works to our advantage."

But but but.... developers can not surely... make profit off Gamepass.... /s

We finally get some commentary on the gamepass model from a developer view, and how it is profitable for developers putting their games on the service, resulting in more and more using the service.

Can't spell GamepasS without the GaaS

NeoGamer2321060d ago

There are a lot of games on GamePass.

And yes there are some that are GaaS. But there are just as many that are single player games. Darksiders, Yakuza, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc.

If you don't know anything about GamePass then don't assume.

MadLad1060d ago (Edited 1060d ago )

Oh yes. So many GaaS games on Gamepass. Basically the entire catalogue. It isn't a minority within the offerings at all.

At the end of the day, it's a highly popular service that offers many varying types of experiences, and pretending that's not the case is straight up denial.

If it's such a bad service, why is it doing well vs PS NObody wants it?

Be honest with yourself, would he be saying that, if they were not literally being paid to put their games on gamepass? Given that both PS plus and Xbox live has been offering free (by free i mean the monthly games you get at no additional cost) for years now, wouldn't you have expected almost every publisher to put their games on those services to sell more copies? I wonder why they only do with selected and old games?

"Given that both PS plus and Xbox live has been offering free (by free i mean the monthly games you get at no additional cost) for years now"

False, you pay a monthly fee to receive those games, so they are not free

There is a difference from a developer/publisher standpoint between available for life (with a sub PS+ and GWG), or available for a few months, common sense dictates you would pick the availability of a few months.

Can you read? I literally said at no additional cost, that means you are already paying for it and you get those games without paying more in addition to what you already pay.

Wait til this dev hears about the F2P model, gonna blow his mind.

medman1059d ago (Edited 1059d ago )

Exhibit A.... Forza Horizon 5 is day one with gamepass sub, with various versions available for purchase, one of which is a premium version that includes "Welcome Pack (including five pre-tuned cars, a house, three clothing vouchers, and a coupon redeemable for any car from the Autoshow), the Car Pass for 50 additional vehicles, and two full expansions (each set to add "a new world location, vehicles, and gameplay"), as well as VIP Membership for tons of additional goodies." according to the game facts. This premium edition is 99 dollars if you want to buy without gamepass, or 49 dollars if you have gamepass.

I assume quite a few people that have gamepass will pay the 50 for all the extras and consider that a pretty good deal. The studio will make out great. They will still sell the game to the multitude who don't have gamepass, and they will sell a bunch to gamepass members who want that extra. You can make the model work if the game is quality. If the game is trash, the developer won't make out so well.

Ill be interested to know if this is multiplayer only or if I can play it single player. Im ok with them being multiplayer, but not exclusively multi. Give me the bot quad, I dont care! But dont force MP on me.

I love the kind of mayhem in Avalanche games, but I cant do MP only all the time. Sometimes I like playing online with others, but I much prefer me the SP games. My interest is piqued though, especially since its Day 1 on GP, so no risk to check it out!

Perfect Dark would be cool but I’m hoping for Fable. I’m really interested where they’ve taken the game.

Tacoboto29d ago

Looking ahead now, I'd say Avowed is what I'm looking forward to most in the fall. Obsidian's been nothing but quality and consistency so I can't wait to see what they've been cooking

The description kind of reminds me of "All Points Bulleting". I never got the chance to play it but a similar game with a higher budget? And it's on GamePass? Sign me up.

Lightning77139d ago

Thought this the game was vaporware they were having issues behind the scenes. If it releases it might be late this year maybe early next year.

HyperMoused137d ago

Hardline had one of the best MP modes, the one where the hard points are vehicles and you get points for how long you are in the vehicles......chaotically driving around the map and then also chasing the enemy down to destroy the vehicles was a great, fun mode
