No Man's Sky all over again I feel sorry for WB publishing the game when WB publishes something its good.

SullysCigar1265d ago

Except NMS is one of the greatest turnarounds in gaming history. Cyberpunk's got a LONG way to go to make good on these crappy launch shenanigans...

Army_of_Darkness1265d ago

I'm better off buying this game next year. Bugs will be fixed, added dlc, plus it will be cheaper.

MadLad1265d ago

CDPR didn't outright lie about the game they were releasing. The content they promised is there, it's just a janky mess.
No Man's Sky was a straight up lie in design and mechanics.
It's different, and I doubt it will take them three years to clean it up, either.

Sunny_D1265d ago

@Ted

They straight up said the game "runs surprisingly well on PS4 and Xbox One"

https://gamespot1.cbsistati...

That was a big fat lie.

RgR1265d ago

@SunnyD

Maybe they meant the pro and XoneX

MadLad1265d ago

@sunny

You need to reread my post and take it for its actual content.
Comparing a company who sold you an entirely different game, based on misinformation given based on its core mechanics, is a little different than saying here's exactly what we said it would be, but it runs bad.
Neither are acceptable, but comparing an unoptimized, buggy game to a complete lie of a product, in and of itself, is far from comparable.

That was my point.

That doesn't make Cyberpunk not a glitchy mess that still needed to cook, and I never said it didn't.

Rocketisleague1265d ago

Nms still missing it's biggest features tho. Any way regardless, cdpr are just as bad here imo. Nms though was easily worse.

These anti consumee practices make colonial marines look good

sourOG1265d ago

I loved Witcher 3 but I was toward the end of my hundred plus hours before they completely revamped the UI. They changed the game with smart fixes. By the time the ps5 version comes out it will be dope.

It still sucks one of the most “pro consumer” companies around still launched it like that and sold record copies on anticipation alone. You don’t have any “well intentioned” friends in business or government that’s for sure. Live and learn protect your neck.

outsider16241264d ago

Not just that..but how many people were working in Hello.

CDPR aren't just some small time developers. They're well well known for their Witcher series, the third winning more than 200 awards.

They knew it wasn't ready, be it PC or Consoles but released it anyway.

NMS lied to us all the way till release, but when it was time to review it, people knew all the issues with that game, with Cyberpunk it was actually even worse, they only gave PC copies to reviewers and did not allow them to use footage from the console version on their reviews, knowing full well that only PC reviews would come before release and the unplayable mess that are last gen version of the game only now we are finding about it.

CPR not only straight up lied to their customers, but also tried to hide the state of their game even after the time of release. Disgusting behaviour

badz1491264d ago

actually it was even worse. the early reviewers weren't allowed to use their own gameplay footage for their reviews, only footage provided and hand-picked by CDPR themselves. so CDPR knew even the PC version was buggy but manipulated the reviewers to garner high scores. most early reviewers sounded the same..."if you're willing to ignore the many bugs still in the game at launch, CP2077 is a great game" which is BS btw and some shameless reviewers even claimed it as the best game there has ever been, masterpiece, setting new standards, unparallelled etc...like WTF?

RgR1265d ago

Comapring this game to NMS is a joke.
The only issue are the bugs. The game itself reviewed great.

And I know a few people with mid powered PC's enjoying this game right now.

RpgSama1265d ago

In current gen consoles it's unplayable and they straight up lied to all of us, because they literally prohibited for people to show the state of the game before release.

RCslayer1265d ago (Edited 1265d ago )

It reviewed great, yeah 4 out of 10 is great, 2 out of 10 is great, 1 out of 5 is the list goes on. This game is the biggest disappointment in years. CdR knew the game was garbage even on PC and still put it out. My buddy is running it on a cpu he built himself and the game is still garbage. It has been in the works for over 8 years, at this rate they should have released it for the Ps6 and Xbox 1234567 Series ABC by then it might be playable.

cooperdnizzle1265d ago

I have a good pc and it plays like crap and I know it first hand. And my buddy is on a amd rig that is considered better than average and he is having the same problems so try again.

outsider16241264d ago (Edited 1264d ago )

Then which game should it be compared to? Days Gone? DG got crapped on for bugs and glitches receiving 6s and 7s. Meanwhile CP2077 is 10/10.

Have you played it? Its just not bugs and glitches.

Petebloodyonion1264d ago

@outsider1624
and the game got a 4 from IGN for the Ps4 version.

RgR1264d ago

@cooperdnizzle

I seriously doubt you have a good pc...or if you do then you must be trying to run the game at max settings.

JesusBuiltmyHotrod1264d ago

LOL what? Thye HID what the game was liike, it looks nothing like what they showed, it is missing the things they said it would have. They hid reviews, and profited, this is every bit as bad, stop defending corporations sucker.

JesusBuiltmyHotrod1264d ago (Edited 1264d ago )

Its not just bugs and glitches, the open world is terrible, all window dressing, zero AI, interactivity, roads are empty, uncercooked, no Role playing like The witcher. This game was a scam.

badz1491264d ago

remember Days Gone? that one Sony game reviewers ducked points majorly for being buggy? the current state of CP2077 is so much worse but didn't stop shill reviewers handing out 10/10 eventhough CDPR had them by the balls in their own review by not allowing console version to be reviewed eventhough it comes out the same day, and not even allowing real time footage to be used, only fottage hand-picked by CDPR themselves to boot. what a freakin joke these shameless reviewers are!

At least Joel didn't die. Jk This is a let down. Right before the launch, I was talking with some friends about how cool CDPR was. And they decided to go 16xs the detail on us. It's still downloading so I am going to play it or write a crap article about why I decided to be angry. I haven't decided yet.

EmperorDalek1265d ago

Well at least Cyberpunk can be fixed. You can't fix the trainwreck that is The Last of Us 2.

potatoseal1265d ago

Trainwreck? Ohhhhh, you're talking about the Masterpiece that is The Last Of Us 2. The game that won a bag full of awards. Yeah sorry, that game is the opposite of a trainwreck. Maybe you need to get your head read.

Sunny_D1265d ago

You mean they're going to fix the terrible AI in CyberPunk? How long should we expect it to come?

annoyedgamer1265d ago

Thou shalt not speak ill of the master last of us 2 its name is sacred!

Nyxus1265d ago

Nah, it's game of the year.

RgR1265d ago

They could fix it if they do Last of Us content between part 1 and part 2.

But with Neil on the helm...yea this is likely the end of quality storytelling for Naughtydog. Their animation and graphics and voice acting will be top notch. But will likely have progressive lackluster stories to tell.

hiawa231265d ago

Train wreck? How? For me TLOU2 is the Best GAME OF LAST GEN. GOTY 2020. Amazing game, great story, Love Abby.

BattleCat1265d ago

No problem, cyberpunk will get the trashaward of the year :)

LucasRuinedChildhood1265d ago (Edited 1265d ago )

@RgR

"But with Neil on the helm...yea this is likely the end of quality storytelling for Naughtydog"

Neil Druckmann was the main writer on The Last Of Us and Uncharted 4 and co-directed both games. If you think TLOU had a good story, then you think that Neil wrote a good story. It's his world (creative director). The Last Of Us and the relationship between Joel and Ellie would never have been what they were without him. Less feelings, more facts: https://thelastofus.fandom....

He was also a writer on Uncharted 1 and more so Uncharted 2 (obvious he was missing for Uncharted 3) and was a co-lead gamer designer on Uncharted 2.

MadLad1265d ago

90% of N4G will say LoU2 is perfection and point to sales, as they ignore the giant amount of YouTube videos with hundreds of thousands of likes picking the game, itself, apart, and the comments section cementing the fact the game's narrative highly fractured the fanbase.

RauLeCreuset1264d ago

Some of you truly deserve more broken releases like this.

BTW, 60.1% completion percentage for the story completion trophy in addition to the sales. Ghost of Tsushima: 48.9%. FF7R: 54.0%. Don't let that deter you from telling us about your YouTube videos. LMAO.

AsunaYuukiTheFlash1264d ago (Edited 1264d ago )

Cyberjunk is worst than the GOTY 2020 known as The Last of Us 2. Cyberbug has Heinous graphics, uninteresting characters, bland voice acting, terrible AI and gazillion amount of glitches/bugs. I can't believe I'm saying this, Fallout 76 runs better than the abomination that is Cyberjunk 2077.

SmokinAces1264d ago

"Trainwrecks" don't win game of the year awards, get over it.

OptimusDK1264d ago

@potatoseal - game awards are nowadays popularity contests where the one with most sold consoles winn.
Nothing more to it. But on that conosole you do get the best pick - and i was not TLOU2

Vx_1264d ago

aside from the bugs, It has the worst AI and combat that I have ever seen in any game, to fix that they need to recode the entire game. This crap isn't remotely close to well crafted TLoU2 game.

It is important for the community to learn from the lesson that, in the end, developers need more than one game to prove themselves worthy of trust. CDPR had a great multiplatform game, released full of bugs and with performance problems, and quickly received the same status from giants like Nintendo, Rockstar, Blizzard or Naughty Dog.

The latter have a long history of quality in launch and support. Something that was given true to CDPR for its "friendly" way with gamers. The result is there. Even the apology should be ready before the game is released.

Now we must press for those who want their money back to receive, who want to wait for it to be served (especially console owners) and put CDPR on the level it deserves. To get to the top of the stairs there is still a lot to prove.

Seraphim1265d ago (Edited 1265d ago )

except CDPR has released 3 games. And when it comes to open world games like Cyberpunk. If not a complete mess they always at least have their fair share of bugs. Now I don't say that to imply CDPR is off the hook. They should've known better and done better. If that meant pushing console launches back and releasing it on PC so be it.

anyway. why didn't the people who had PC review codes and the big outlets question why there was no console code for review? I'm not in the industry but it seems odd that a multiplatform game like this would have only PC review codes. CDPR are first and foremost a PC developer. They always have been. But why is it that, for instance, IGN, Gamespot, whatever other bigger media places or even mainly console streamers didn't raise more of an alarm regarding there not being console review codes? Maybe it was mentioned but I don't recall ever seeing anyone raise an alarm that there were no console review codes/copies being given out. Right there should be a red flag. We can blame CDPR all we want but that one is something these people and outlets should've realized and dug into some.

IMissJimRyan1264d ago

A really big text to take CDPR out the hook and blame IGN.

Seraphim1264d ago (Edited 1264d ago )

@ loco. the 3rd sentence I stated "Now I don't say that to imply CDPR is off the hook" and followed that up in sentence 4 and 5 by saying "They should've known better and done better. If that meant pushing console launches back and releasing it on PC so be it."

So no, it's not, as you say, "a big text to take CDPR out the hook and blame IGN." And seriously. An issue should've been raised by the games media industry for not having console review codes. Instead many of them jumped the gun and posted highly praising reviews. Then, for instance, just today [?] IGN finally posts a scathing PS4/XB1 review. And it's not just IGN. I said all media like IGN, Gamespot, etc and even the streamers. It's just funny/odd how not a single soul wants to point out that not only did CDPR drop the ball but so did these media outlets and streamers. They owe it their viewers to get it right. And bells should been rung when PC review codes were all that were available.

isarai1265d ago

Funny thing is i saw this coming a mile away, not that it would be in such a poor state pe lr se, but that it was too ambitious to provide a solid experience on current consoles, especially given how poorly TW3 launched. I made up my mind to wait tof the next gen versions ages ago, if and when it gets to a stable state.

gravedigger1265d ago

Actually TW3 wasn't that poorly. It had framerate issues ( that swamp area was the biggest problem, well around 20s ), but not so bad like C2077, and surely it's wasn't so buggy like 2077. CDPR fixed TW3 pretty fast, but C2077....it's a case study.

chicken_in_the_corn1265d ago

They didn't really have a choice. Imagine the backlash if they delayed it again

buffig1265d ago

That still sounds like a choice

SullysCigar1264d ago

And the better option by far.

N2NOther1264d ago

Yup. They had a choice and they made the wrong one.

IMissJimRyan1265d ago

Well, Zelda BotW was delayed from 2015 to 2017. They only put the game on the shelves when it was done.

Way worse is to charge full price for a early access game.

IanTH1265d ago (Edited 1265d ago )

I agree CDPR should have delayed it, but I don't think BotW is the same thing.

BotW was a game on a struggling console that Nintendo finally gave up on about the time they pushed the Zelda launch. I'm sure part of that was to add more to the game, but the timing obviously shows us that they did it mainly so that it was available alongside their new console. It was as a shrewd & sensible move, to push their big new Zelda game to help shift units of the Switch.

But also, Nintendo is bonkers rich. They could have Wii U level failures for probably 5 straight console generations and still have money in the bank. They have much less hinging on a single game than a dev like CDPR does.

Cikatriz_ESP1265d ago

Even if they had no choice but to release the game (which is frankly silly), they chose to deceive customers in all the ways highlighted in the above article.

CS71265d ago

Lol.. Or how about not giving a release date till you can actually deliver a project? :O

Do you have a job? Can you give your boss a deadline for a project completion and then ask for extension after extension without consequence?

It is a sign on incompetence. One or two delays yes. But they were not forced to give an original release date.

edwardmde1265d ago

Simple. Release on PC. Delay the rest.

JackBNimble1265d ago

Imagine the backlash of releasing a broken game .

Muzikguy1265d ago

I'm perfectly fine with waiting. No backlash unless people really don't want quality. Sometimes people need to stop and think about what they're doing and why

DragonWarrior191265d ago

There wouldn't be any backlash. Would people have been disappointed, sure but nobody would be raging because they need another few months or more. They lied, plain and simple. It was pretty obvious they were hiding something. Very little gameplay shown and when they started getting questions about the game then it was all about Keanu Reeves which also lead to very confusing marketing as it felt at times like he was the main character.

SmokinAces1264d ago

I imagined all the delays were going to prevent stuff like this in the first place.

VivaLaManual1264d ago

They didn't have a choice but to defraud people? Uh...ok...

Every PlayStation Studios game available now on Windows PC

Windows Central writes: "Many PlayStation Studios games that are ported to PC get dedicated PS5 DualSense support, which allows users to experience haptic feedback and adaptive trigger support without actually having to own a PS5.

According to Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, it's still the company's intent to launch the bigger single-player games on PS5 first, before later bringing the games to PC. This might not be the case for multiplayer games however, which are considered okay to launch simultaneously on console and PC."

Very very early in development. Still, fantastic news!

Let´s GO!!!

Lightning771d 4h ago

I guess.

How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )

At least it wouldn't be MS of all ppl destroying them.

MS really should let go Tango go like they did TFB here.

darthv721d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

one was under Bethesda (Tango) the other under Activision (TFB). Clearly each one handled the separations of their subordinates differently.

Obscure_Observer1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

"How come they didnt either let them go or sell Tango and others to another publisher? Not saying Ubisoft, EA would be any better. (Capcome would of treated them right )"

Perhaps because Zenimax and ABK handles such matters differently based on their own internal policies as "independent" publishers.

Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future. Which could also be the reason why they ensured an exclusive partnership with TFB and its new game, before anyone else.

Sad and disgusting. But it is what it is.

Lightning7723h ago(Edited 23h ago)

"Whoever, chances are it´s simply because MS didn´t wanted Tango or Austin to be acquired by competitors and develop new bangers for them, giving MS a bad rep in a possible future."

MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB.

It's inexcusable, they have options on how to handle studios they don't want anymore with killing jobs. Not just MS but the rest of the industry also.

Sad and disgusting sure how many will get shut down next year or this year even?

I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another.

Obscure_Observer16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

"MS has a bad rep now because those studios are no more. I rather them sell the studio continue to make multiplatform releases, while MS continues to focus on whatever they're doing. If they didn't want Tango around they should separated from them or sell them to, like they did TFB."

Imo, MS separated from TFB because they didn´t had a game associated with Xbox yet, unlike Tango.

"I don't trust MS decisions and motivations at this point. You have to admit they make one dumb move after another."

Fair enough. It was indeed an epic dumb move from them to close Tango.

Still, all to be forgotten, like always have. This is not the first time a big publisher shuts down a beloved and/or successful studio out of nowhere and certainly won´t be the last. Do you remember Lionhead? Do you remember Evolution Studios? Yeah... both were beloved studios and yet, those companies kill those studios in q blink of an eye and got away with it.

anast13h ago(Edited 13h ago)

The studio boss made some money from this transaction. Once the game releases, the studio will get chopped up.

Manages to buy their freedom especially after all the shit Microsoft has been doing with its studios lately

...

Okaaaaaay...

darthv721d 3h ago

Id venture a guess that TFB working directly with MS was a better outcome than working through Activision to get to MS.

VersusDMC1d 1h ago

From the article...

"Toys for Bob spun out as an indie back in February after Microsoft instituted sweeping layoffs that impacted 86 employees, which was more than half of the staff"

I doubt those 86 employees enjoyed the Microsoft experience over Activisions.

Inverno1d 1h ago

MS shuts down studios because of lack of resources and then helps these guys by giving em resources. Also MS is what forced them to buy their freedom in the first place? What kind of logic 😂

Chevalier22h ago

The best thing is that the company that is worth $3 trillion and owns the company instead of Xbox lacks resources. How the hell does a company worth $3 trillion making a measly $70 billion purchase they 'can't' support. Lol

BlindMango4h ago

The reason they would need to "partner with Microsoft" is simply to make a game that's part of a franchise that Microsoft owns. Meaning they're probably going to make a new Spyro game - they're still an independent studio, but are making a game in a franchise that Microsoft owns. It's kind of like Remedy partnering with Rockstar to be able to make the Max Payne remakes.

shinoff21834h ago

It was probably the deal to get released from Ms

Sciurus_vulgaris1d 3h ago (Edited 1d 3h ago )

Xbox’s gaming division seems to still function as 3 semi-autonomous sub-divisions, Xbox Studios, Bethesda and ABK. The three main sub-divisions can seemingly shut down or build studios and set up partnerships independently. This would explain why Bethesda can recently shutdown studios, while ABK spins off one studio, while building a new one. Plus, Toys for Bob could be spun off by ABK, only to immediately re-partner with Microsoft.

Chevalier22h ago

That's absolutely 💯 BS. Any sane 'autonomous' company would NOT put their games on Gamepass day 1 like COD will lose probably billions.

Also they're all under Xbox game studios so any autonomy is an illusion.

PhillyDonJawn9h ago

No, I'm sure MS can and does step in when they want something done specifically but I'm also sure they let them also work independently

shinoff21833h ago

I highly highly doubt this. Ms controls all. The guys aren't gonna be allowed to just shut something down like that without approval. No way
