I know. Better than Xbox One and PS4. Great stuff from the developers.

UltraNova1640d ago

Great stuff? I mean what were thinking when they were making the game on more powerful hardware?

Well at least Switch users get to experience the game at its best...

MadLad1640d ago

@ultra

That would be on a proper PC, really.

MasterCornholio1641d ago

"Typical stuff but, with the right choices, the results can still look relatively good given the hardware - but what if I told you that Feral Interactive's Switch port of Alien Isolation is actually better than the PS4 and Xbox One versions? "

Interesting on how they managed to make it better (in some ways) than the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

SIdepocket1639d ago

The image is definitely cleaner as the video claims, but in docked mode @1080p this one has a very jarring framerate - even in relatively empty environments.

Automatic791641d ago

As we move forward in generation more and more developers will take advantage of the Nintendo Switch chip.

Jman15531641d ago

As soon as next gen starts we will hardly see any 3rd party switch games, just like what happened last gen

Outlawzz1641d ago

There will be plenty of 3rd party games. Playstation and Xbox will get the high end graphics games but 3rd partys will look to make games at a lower budget which may sound bad but can actually be great. That's how we get projects like octopath traveler, astral chain, Mario kingdom battle, etc.

King_Noctis1640d ago

You wanna bet? As soon as next gen starts, the only console that have the most userbase will be the Switch. Surely the developers/publishers would want to capitalize on that.

JEECE1640d ago

Lol if the Lockhart rumors are true, the floor for 3rd party multiplats isn't going to be as much higher than this gen as we initially thought when just considering PS5/Scarlett.

TK-661640d ago (Edited 1640d ago )

@Jman1553

Except that the Switch has become the go to place for many 3rd parties. Indies almost always perform better on Switch, often outselling both the PS4 and Xbox One versions combined. We've also seen games like Battlechasers sell the best on Switch.

Your claim is that more powerful hardware will make the Switch obsolete. If there was merit to this logic why hasn't it worked out for the last 3 years? Almost as though theres no evidence to back the prediction...

battlegrog1640d ago

switch is making a pro model next fall which will compete with the next x and p

jaymacx1640d ago

@Jman1553 last time I checked Switch’s 3rd party is filled with games from Japanese devs who don’t push cutting edge graphics and Indy games. Look at how many jrpg games are on Switch. Switch doesn’t really have much AAA third party now so that won’t change with PS5 and next Xbox. What we will see is more exclusive games .

@Automatic79

Take advantage of Nintendo switch chip?! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 Too hilarious

And it'll still have the worst graphics of them all.

“Alien Isolation on Switch looks better than PlayStation 4“

Neonridr1640d ago

@Brave - thanks for posting a Switch vs PS4 Pro to further bias your argument. You could have at least just posted the base PS4 to make you look like you were less of a troll.

And again, this is Alien Isolation, not the Witcher 3. Thanks for coming out though.

Xaywhat1640d ago

Brave is an idiot. We are just discussing Alien isolation dip shit. No one is saying PS4 isn’t more powerful LMAO

battlegrog1640d ago

and still sell very well

This is a 5 year old game, people. You're telling me that if the devs had another 5 year old, on top of the already 6 year old development cycle, they couldn't have made the game look better on the more powerful consoles? Seriously? Are we all going to be this obtuse just to pander to Nintendo?

Amplitude1641d ago (Edited 1641d ago )

"on the more powerful console?"
The thing is, the Switch isn't the more powerful console. It's significantly less powerful and more than 50% of the time, the cuts to get PS4 generation games running on the handheld are very noticeable. That's why this is so interesting - It's a really impressive port.

Nitrowolf21641d ago

he was referring to the ps4 there, if the devs had another 5 years extra

Amplitude1640d ago

@Nitrowolf2

ohhhhh i guess i read it wrong. my bad! Thanks man

Sciurus_vulgaris1640d ago

Alien Isolation on PS4 (and XB1) was not a well optimized game. Nor, is Alien Isolation a showcase of the hardware capability of PS4/XB1. There are games on the PS4 and XB1 that the Switch essentially can’t run, for example RDR 2.

Can FSR 3 frame generation deliver the 120fps dream on PS5 and Xbox?

Frame generation technology has arrived on consoles, amplifying frame-rates and potentially transforming experiences.

adds between 8.3-15.3 milliseconds of latency on the game they tested, - no thanks

darksky12h ago

Base latency is 130.8ms and frame gen takes that up to 139.1ms. A 7% increase in latency is hardly a deal breaker.

Zenzuu12h ago

That's hardly a deal breaker and not really noticeable. Even the folks at Digital Foundry said so as well.

darthv721d 6h ago

Impressive results... sadly I don't have a 120hz display. I was thinking this technique could increase fps on any game that supports it regardless of the display.

purple1011d 6h ago (Edited 1d 6h ago )

I have a vrr telly in the lounge,

On another point, what if it were the other way around where the developer aims for higher fps, then used something like pssr to make the resolution higher, that might be better?

Any which way, PS5 pro sure looks interesting now, being they have already doubled frame rate, with JUST just this fsr3.0

sagapo11h ago

It’s up to dev’s to implement FSR 3 support tho but most probably will I guess (hope).

BlackDoomAx13h ago

Can it deliver the 60fps dream?

purple1013h ago(Edited 3h ago)

no, it delivers approx 80fps.

which is why I say why not target 60fps with this new tech and use the upscaling pssr, (Sonys version of Nvidia's DLSS, that seems so popular in the pc realm)

then we have best of both, better believe ps5pro will be doing all the above.

andy8512h ago

Now I've extensively tried it I'm not too fussed about 120 fps. Give me a locked 60 and more details and I'm more than happy

anast7h ago(Edited 7h ago)

120 is a bit slow. My eyes can't look at anything less than 260fps.
