Maybe I do not understand this, can we play Remotely outside of our house? Can I bring my PS4 controller with me and play GoW on my phone, or do I need to be under the same wifi?

You can play outside of your house. I tried it at starbucks 400 miles away from my home and it worked for me.

Works well on my laptop and on my phone and I tried it once on my VITA all the way from my sis's house and it worked well then too. Don't care much for paying yet another monthly subscription service, but this does show that streaming games does work, and work properly. It's a nice alternative from having to carry your PS4 around, and it's completely free. I said it before, but I'll say it again. It'd be awesome if SONY put the official app on the Switch

Anything that increases the value of the Switch is good for them.

Being real I don't think either company would be ok with that. Especially if PlayStation is thinking about reentering the mobile handheld space at some point in the future.
Also it's not like PS4 Remote Play would be a selling feature for Switch though PlayStation also wouldn't want to encourage Switch sales. PlayStation and Nintendo might not have hardware in the same competitive space but the company's are still in competition and for that reason I don't think we'll see PS4 Remote Play on Xbox One either not that that would even make much sense. At least when it comes to PC Remote Play you could be running the app on hardware too weak to run PS4 games for example thin and light ultrabook/netbooks. Phones are also much too weak to run PS4 games like Switch but again Sony and PlayStation as a whole aren't really missing out on sales if you play games on a phone and while ownership of a PS4 is required to use Remote Play this could still incentivize Switch ownership.

Both MS and Sony hammering on remote play .... I think this is all with very direct intention of trying to hit Stadia during its launch. I am certain MS, Sony and Nintendo really don't want to see Google entering the console gaming space.

Playstations Remote Play was already out years in PSV, that don't exist anymore, so they add other mobile devices and that's just natural evolution of an already existing service.

On the other side, Xbox Xcloud had announced long time ago so their beta and final release is about to come.

Anyone can enter the console gaming space if the want to, but if that have real impact to the costumers, that needs time to be proved. Google need to make something more than a beta gaming subscription to grow lengs in this area.

When you begin promoting/advertising the evolution of features that specifically go head to head with another competitor that is just launching that is not a coincidence. these companies know exactly what they are doing and what / when they choose to communicate that. Sony and Microsoft both have been deliberate with their timing...to "hit" stadia with messaging to consumers about their services.

As to your comment of "anyone can enter...." I wholeheartedly agree. Anyone can enter, and they need to come in with impact. Google has a lot to prove still so we shall see.

I agree with you, there is not such a think as an coincident in Business competition, everything is about timing but this way around is more like both Sony and Microsoft "mocking up" with Google about the so called advertised service they provide. Really reminds me the Yoshida video with the used games after the MS presentation on XO but in bigger more serious scale! Maybe is a part of Xcloud X PS Now collaboration deal!

I'm pretty sure none of them want to see Google enter the market. Google, of all companies besides Amazon and Apple, are probably the most capable of hurting their own business interests. MS and Sony especially have their own streaming services and want to make it successful.

I don't think they're going to be all reactionary to the point of being afraid....as some people posit on various things sometimes, but I dont think any company wants major competition to enter the market.

I also think a lot of people have forgotten that Amazon has an interest in entering the market. They didn't create their own game engine for nothing, and Amazon does have cloud services already. Amazon has been really quiet about it, but I think in the future, they're going to come out like google did and make their full intentions known.

Figured this would make a nice feature to play inbetween classes on campus but phone needs Android 10 to connect a controller to it. Just discovered my phone will not be receiving the android 10 update. And since there is no way in hell I am going to try and play a game like Nioh with a touch screen ps4 controller this feature has now become utterly useless to me.

And a slight edit on my previous post. Its the Remote Play app that needs Android 10 to connect Dualshock 4 to it. I can connect a DS4 controller to my phone itself just fine. But the app requires Android 10 to be able to use a DS4 controller instead of the onscreen virtual buttons.

Yes, ever since ps3 days when remote play with PSP, or ps4 with vita and now remote play with phones.
You can be at Starbucks and play your ps4 as long as there is good internet connection.

And any game that's in the PS4's disc tray is also supported so long as it's not a VR game or a game that requires special peripherals like PlayStation Camera or PS Move.

Unfortunately BD/DVD movies and digital streaming services can't be enjoyed via Remote Play due to software restrictions mostly determined in concert with outside publishers and also due to contracts PlayStation has with streaming platform partners.
This is a non-issue as basically all Remote Play compatible devices have native access to all streaming services available on PSN including the PS Vita system.

The major reason PlayStation doesn't allow streaming of video media is because they don't want to be responsible for theft of copyrighted content. Game developers know their games can be streamed and agree to this before making games for the system, but Hollywood film creators are stiff and they have the resources to sue any company into oblivion even Apple.

Is there any way through using a VPN that we can trick it into thinking of 4G connection is is actually a Wi-Fi then I can play on the bus / college / Airport /train etc.. or at work when there's no WiFi.

I'm pretty sure you can play over 4G.

However the experience is inferior to WiFi.

5G might be a different kettle of fish.

You cannot use a VPN to connect to PSN.

However 4G works fine for Remote Play. WiFi is not required if you're using a cellular network no tricks required to do that either.

Anyone have input delay and have to turn the resolution down to 720 just to play. I thought my internet was good, I can play BFV and COD games with wifi no problems. ISP is maxed out with 80MB on average I’ll net about 50ish. I can download a full PS4 50GB title in about 3 to 4 hours. 30 to 40 GB games around 2 to 3. That’s when it’s just me using the bandwidth. So I can’t understand why PS4 remote play has difficulty on my iPhone 8 Plus.
