Dead by Daylight Won't be Coming to the Nintendo Switch

Today at New York Comic Con I was able to speak to the producer of Dead by Daylight, Mathieu Côté, regarding the future of the massively popular multiplayer survival-horror game. Côté confirmed that the game won't be coming to Nintendo's latest console.

not really.. from what I have read the game is garbage. So it seems like the Switch isn't missing a lot by not getting this title.

It's actually pretty fun and there aren't really any other games like it atm. It has it's problems but it's still a fun game. Obviously it's not a huge deal that's going to make or break the Switch.

Its not garbage, it's not great. But it still has fun times especially playing with friend's.

Segata2427d ago

It's a fun game just not polished much at all.

@Cyro Friday the 13th is both similar and infinitely better.

"The reason regarding why developer Behaviour Interactive won't be porting the game is because of the Nintendo Switch's design. Côté stated that the system is designed in a specific way that makes porting the game very difficult. It would require a completing new version of the game to work with Nintendo's new console."

I surmise that this issue will be a reason why various other third party titles will also skip out on NS.

Those are custom built versions of the game. Not every dev is going to want to make a custom built version of a multiplat game

But the fact that people like Bethesda CAN do so, when this dev refuses to, shows that they're really over-exaggerating how "difficult" it would be, in this instance.
That or this particular dev is just really crummy at porting games and doesn't want to pay an outside party to do it for them on a more compatible engine.
It's got support for more scalable engines than any other Nintendo console; if they really wanted to do it, they would.
My guess is that they aren't doing it because #1 the original games didn't sell well enough, and didn't get high enough ratings [though I feel the 1-100 scale is broken as F*** and not worth using anymore since no one uses it right] to bother trying for another version, and #2 because Nintendo's online has some very apparent flaws that need to be addressed, before a game known for its online multiplayer aspect above anything else can come onto it and expect any sort of decent sales.

@monkey

Are you comparing this guys to bethesda? rly?? xDDDDD

DOOM was ported for other company not bethesda so please.

PhoenixUp2427d ago

Yet you still see various other devs refusing to put multiplat games on NS.

So like I said, not every dev is going to go through the effort of making a custom build.

"Côté stated that the system is designed in a specific way that makes porting the game very difficult."

What about all the other companies that said it was easy to port their games to Switch??

PhoenixUp2427d ago

What about all the other companies not porting their games to Switch period?

*massively popular*.. well that's one way to look at it.

wonderfulmonkeyman2428d ago

The only way I can see that statement of theirs being true, is if it was like The Letter; everyone who buys it only does so because they heard just how horrible it was, and HAD to try it out for themselves, if only so they could make a video about their reaction to it.XD

OH NO! I WAS REALLY BANKING ON THIS COMING TO SWITCH........

Very safe list of horror games. I would argue that Amnesia Machine for Pig was not that great. Dark Descent was much a much better game.

Far better games have been released in this genre (Dead Space Remake, Alien Isolation, Alan Wake 2 etc).
