Ridley Scott's Alien is a landmark film, not just for the impact that it had on the film industry but for the influence that it has exerted and continues to exert on video games and their design today.

To think that a 1979 sci-fi horror film still has a huge influence on video game design today is not that much of a stretch. What was key to this is the lessons it taught a generation of aspiring game designers in creating atmosphere and environmental storytelling.
