Sony unleashes Nessy in Tokyo Bay

You have to see it to believe it. Sony finally mastered the hologram and they made a demo by unleashing Nessy in the Tokyo Bay. A huge 15m Holographic Monster.

ruibing5962d ago

I just wished there was a better video for this demonstration...

INehalemEXI5962d ago

The alternative source is a bit better.

marinelife95962d ago

Unbelievable! Sony has some ENGINEERS!

DEIx15x85962d ago

So now Sony is copying Disney and calling it their own too? Disney did this with Fantasmic around 10 years ago. It's a fake hologram effect with water and projectors, nothing new. You can even see the water spray splashing down around the base.

dats gotta be special effects. or will sony once again be innovating. I aint a sony fanboy or nuthin but sony does bring in breakthru tech frm time to time so i give em credit

gonzopia5962d ago

It's a projection on a continuous water spray. It's been done elsewhere. Not taking away from the cool factor... cuz it is, but it's not a hologram.

INehalemEXI5962d ago

I did'nt see any continous water spray, and holograms have been around for awhile. Just never seen something done on this scale.

gonzopia5962d ago

Of course it's a water spray. The light from the lasers is reflecting off the water. Light is generally invisible to the naked eye if it has nothing to illuminate, like an object (or in this case, moisture particles in the air).

Come on.

Idmpc5962d ago

Lasers on a water spray... Like, for example, Disney's "Fantasmic" show does that a lot, however they show cartoons on the water sprays, not 3D images... but how 3D is that monster anyway? I mean, is it a video of a 3D rendered monster or is it being projected on 3D in the air? Can't be really sure because the video isn't of the best quality...

Nevertheless, GREAT job, sony!

INehalemEXI5962d ago (Edited 5962d ago )

No water here. Spooky huh.

I want to see Godzilla vs Nessy.

Dmack795962d ago

I wanna see the CLOVERFIELD monster/alien/experiment gone wrong.

They should use this for advertising MGS4, KZ2, R2, or one of their huge games. That would be better than Msoft's halo advertising.

Mr VideoGames5962d ago

don't you have to record it before you can play it as a Hologram WTF?.......

Here's a closer look at the new ASUS ROG Ally X as early renders are leaked online

It's almost time for the ASUS ROG Ally X to be revealed, and these leaked renders already provide a look at the device and its specs.

UltimateOwnage22h ago

Is it running the same Windows OS? Because that is the biggest issue with the current Ally.

New and improved ASUS ROG Ally X battery life is just what it needs to compete with the Steam Deck

Yet another leak for the ASUS ROG Ally X points towards as much as 8 hours of battery, but how does that compare to the competition?

Vits15d ago

Honestly, I really like this updated version. But it doesn't solve the biggest flaw that the original had for me: the Z1 Extreme APU. Yes, it's an extremely powerful part, but it is not part of AMD's Adrenalin driver update program, so it's dependent on Asus for driver updates. And unfortunately, Asus doesn't have a stellar record of support for their devices.

Goodguy0115d ago

Up to 8 hours basically just means the least demanding games. AAA gaming at highest wattage would probably be about 2-3 hours which is good compared to just about 1 hour with the current ally. The OLED Deck can do about 2-3hrs.

mrcatastropheAF12d ago

With much less performance so that makes sense.

The Steamdeck shines at the lower TDP end but gets absolutely mopped at the high end.

Similar longevity with much better performance is a big win for the Ally X

Killa7813d ago

Too bad Asus are all awful company.

PRIMORDUS13d ago

They used to be the best when it comes to motherboards, now I will never buy anything from them again.

Firebird36013d ago

8 hrs yea right. Running tetris?

Skuletor13d ago

Only after setting the screen brightness to the lowest level, of course.

Notellin12d ago

They tested the battery life watching a game of Tetris in 360p. Running Tetris natively brought the number down slightly to 1 hour and 38 minutes. 😂

Asuka13d ago

Nope. The only improvements I want to hear is better customer support. Otherwise, I can't be bothered.
