It's E3: Some Reminders From the Mod Team

Hello, everyone! Happy E3, one of the few Gamer Holidays of the year.

E3 is a busy time, especially during the specific conferences. So, I'm ging to pop in here and give you some reminders on how things work and what to expect.

1. Everyone wants to be first, but that doesn't mean beating others with one or two sentence submissions. We will immediately fail submissions that do this and wait for someone to put up something of worth and showing a sign of effort.

2. Again, we know you want to be first, but placeholders? Yeah, do that, and you will likely see a restriction. You somehow have a submission that started before an actual announcement? Not good.

3. Many submissions that add a little bit of news to an existing submission will be noted as needing to be added as an alternative source. Determination of this need will be made by the moderators as usual. This isn't anything new, but with the many submissions being made, felt it was important to emphasize.

4. We allow you to rip trailers from the streams when official videos are not already available. But realize that as soon as those videos are available from an official source, we'll be swapping those in. We'll make sure to keep you as credit URL.

5. Screen grabs of press conference videos will not be allowed as their own content element (screenshots or images). If it's a trailer and you just post screen grabs to get the content to N4G before the trailer gets here, it will be failed. If it's screen grabs that you are using to emphasize a bit of news, that is fine.

6. Official announcements posted to Xbox.com, the PS Blog, or similar sources may be edited into existing submissions as credit URLs.

7. Roundups aren't allowed. We get it's helpful to your users, but N4G is an aggregate site, we already round up the news on our site. Also, please don't try and 'sneak' them through as opinion pieces that aren't really opinion pieces, that only annoys us.

8. No posting your own site as a source for a stream or for a chat during the streams. This falls under the spam headline here since you're really just promoting your site and not the official streams. We encourage users to go to where they feel is best for them, though. We will post some user blogs to discuss the streams as well as links to the official sources and others, that's all we will be allowing.

9. During conferences, we likely won't be responding to PMs or tickets. We're busy. But, we'll try to get to you eventually. This is a busy time.

Oh man the mighty ban hammer will be busy.

Chris will do so much banning with his hammer that the Hammer Bros will officially make him part of the family.

Thank you for the update.

I know I'm not perfect in Submissions or Approvals, but I'll be doing my best to 'unofficially' help out as properly as I can.

Good luck.

Question: I've seen this happening before, sites like IGN'S would post a recently announced news and it'll be explained in a 2 line paragraph with 'More To Follow' under it.

Am I allowed to submit those?

Christopher2911d ago

No. IGN is not free from the same rules of everyone else. We failed a ton of their content last year because of that.

-Mezzo-2910d ago

Roger that.

But i didn't mean it like that, IGN was just a random example.

Perjoss2910d ago

Its lame, I really don't like the recent 'review in progress' trend either. They should know better.

Relientk772911d ago

Yeah have fun guys with the mad rush trying to submit things first before everyone else.

Yeah I'm not doing that lol., E3 is like the Black Friday of N4G, but for submitting news

Days Gone Director Says Bend's Project Costs Over $250M; Says PS Co-CEO Doesn't Want 2 Zombies Games

Days Gone director claims Sony has already poured in at least a $250M in Bend's project; says Days Gone sold more than Death Stranding.

Well that sucks. Seems they want more online trash. I'd rather of had the sequel if it was single player

MrNinosan31m ago

What online trash games did PS Studios release last 10 years?

-Foxtrot14h ago

It would be a shame if it was true that Hermen never gave the franchise a chance simply because he didn't like it and they already had a "Zombie" game with TLOU.

NaughtyDog are most likely moving onto a new IP next so it would have been the perfect time to do it.

Here's where xbox steps in and releases state of decay 3 day and date on ps5.

Grilla0m ago

Days gone 2 was canceled before Herman was in charge. That happened like 4 years ago.

excaliburps1h ago

Yep. Kind of weird since it wasn't a sales flop, no?

I know we have to take what Ross says with a grain of salt since we're hearing just one side of the story, but even so, the game wasn't bad at all. Heck, it's my brother's favorite last-gen game from what I recall.

The amount of zombies on screen, imagine that with the PS5 and SSD? That would be insanely fun!

P_Bomb43m ago

Well I don’t want 10 live service games, but they have no problem doing that lol. Ugh.

CrimsonWing690m ago

Oh great so we only get what he wants… real glad to have you aboard!
