Well watch them get bought by Microsoft now so that can't happen

Lionsguard58d ago

That actually could be for the best in this case. Microsoft's future seems more likely than ever to go third party and make software available for all. Also, having Microsoft's backing could make the game soar to greater heights as long as the vision is maintained. The extra legal counsel could also help against any potential lawsuits, not that it'll help the case for it should it happen but they won't have to worry about trying to fight off Pokemon's lawyers alone.

PassNextquestion58d ago

I think if Microsoft bought them it would end up on all platforms. I'm pretty sure they would treat it the same as Minecraft.

I don't see Microsoft or Sony buying them. I think it's just too close to being Pokemon. I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't sent their lawyers to destroy them yet.

Profchaos58d ago

I don't think any company would buy them given the legal issues and grey area they operate in they are one expansion away from a lawsuit

Sephiroushin58d ago

which are ? i mean pokemon copied dq ...

there is no legal issue unless they make an exact replica or use the same code ... Pokemon has not sued them because they hold no ground just like they didn't sue nexomon developers, there is no patent or copyright infringement whatsoever to be sued.

MrBaskerville57d ago

While Palworld is obviously wholly original in any way imagineable. They do have a past making chinese knockoffs, like in they did a carbon copy of both Botw and Hollow Knight.

MrBaskerville57d ago

Doubt anyone will buy them tbh. Atleast not one of the big three. They have succes but I think they make stuff that's too derivative to warrant a buyout.

Seems to me that that could be a very risky acquisition, simply because I keep expecting Nintendo to file some type of cease-and-desist order. You could argue that Nintendo would have done so already if they were ever going to, so maybe they don’t think they would win that action in court I guess.

FinalFantasyFanatic58d ago

Nintendo is normally pretty quick, when people were making Pokemon mods for Palword, they were on top of the offender in less than a day. So clearly Nintendo is watching them, but I don't think they have enough of a case to shut down Palworld, unfortunately, I don't think Nintendo will ever be able to scrub out "Pokemon with guns" description that fans are tossing around.

Reborn58d ago

Hmm, yeah I feel like they'll need more than this to get someone to buy.

Maybe see how Palworld does in sustaining itself and content, and how devs approach things going forward. Buying just cause of one big hit nowadays? Possible, but unlikely. Unless someone just wants to lock Palworld to one platform.

SockeyBoy58d ago

An acquisition won't happen by anyone. Well not anytime soon anyway, not with all the layoffs.

FinalFantasyFanatic58d ago

A lot of these tech companies are acquiring AI companies by the bucket load at the moment because they're afraid of missing out or falling behind, so I think you're right regarding gaming developers being acquired.

I mean, they should get flack. They stole designs and art, as well as used AI. They also did the same thing when it came to their other game which was a ripoff of Hollow Knight

Christopher5d ago

All claims of stealing assets were from someone who modified assets to make them look the same AFAIK.

Michiel19895d ago

most games are ripoffs of something with their own spin on it, except we call it iterating. As long as the so called "rip offs" are fun and good, I'm all for it.

Delete all your social media. The majority of people playing your game don't care what people are saying.

Palworld Co-Op: Early Access Preview - Spawning Point

With a budget of only $6.7 million, no one can argue that Palworld hasn’t had incredible breakout success. This isn’t surprising for a cheeky, funny, colourful game that unashamedly lifts gameplay mechanics from big franchises e.g. Minecraft, Fortnite and Ark, along with a very in your face nod to Pokemon.
