While I support the spirit of what you're saying, how does this work if you have an "entry level professional" position where every applicant is fresh out of university with no internships or other experience? By the school they've graduated from? If we did that, it disproportionately favors Caucasians who typically have access to better schools. I should add that I used to work in my graduate school's admissions office and the ONLY time race mattered is when (surprise) you have two equally qualified candidates and one seat left—at that point, you select which ever one has less representation in the program. That is far less common than you might think. It just gets blown up because people are led to believe it is extremely common practice. At the hiring level, I can't say much about that from personal experience, but there have been social research studies where candidates created identical applications (schools, experience, etc) but with different names. Turns out, employers very consistently selected the "whiter sounding names". Full disclosure, I am also a person of color, but there is absolutely a systemic issue that, once you familiarize yourself with the research from criminological, sociological, psychological, economic, political, historical, and labour perspectives, it becomes difficult to ignore how broken the system is—this is an extensive rabbit hole and we would need to get on a call for a few hours to sort that out.

But on the other hand, there are instances where race simply matters. For instance, psychologist. Black men have largely checked out of the therapeutic process and that's because there is either a gendered bias, ethnic bias, or both where it becomes impractical to develop a good rapport with an incompatible therapist. Even if you grow up in a country like America, household cultures come out in therapy and you quickly realize it's a problem.

So again, I support the spirit of what you're saying, but it needs to be taken with nuance.

And to anyone saying "DEI is about revenge"... No, it isn't. You take one instance of discrimination and use it to make a broader point about it being driven by revenge. Be better than that. DEI contingencies exist because they were created by people with power (rarely the beneficiaries of such policies) because there is a precedent: there is discrimination in hiring on the bases of culture, gender, religion, race, hair style, etc. There are a few cases for hair style (food service) and religious restrictions, but I think it is disingenuous for anyone to believe they exist just because. It forces employers to confront their own stereotypes. To be clear, I don't like these policies, but more than that, I don't like that they ever had to exist. In a world where the most qualified person really wins, you don't need these policies, but there is a history for WHY some people are not the most qualified or are "too qualifed". I don't really see how you remove these policies without addressing systemic issues first.

Those hospitals were in fact pushing those ideologies and were permitting underage surgery, which was confirmed from a whistleblower at the hospital. I’ve been told race is very unique in the USA. I think for us segregation still exists on a subtle, poorly-documented level.

THE GAME DEVS OF COLOR EXPO..... The shoe is on the left foot and segregation and racism will not die in this country, it's simply taken a different side. In the South, you'll still hear Southerners that are raised on and haven't gotten over it, but the power received by, I guess it's the colored community, is through the roof! Because the white community feels as bad as they do because of what the black community has had to go through, even generations later, it's been attempt after attempt to fix that. Look at cities like Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Los Angeles for example all concentrated colored communities where the SSI monthly handouts, the lines are super long with people waiting for their handout. I worked a job at a front desk where colored people entered the building and didn't know my history or anything about me and flat out yelled in front of everyone, me only trying to do my job that I was a white oppressor and told those behind them to ignore me. My great grandfather was from Kentucky as was his father and they weren't slave owners OR racist but on the contrary, I was always brought up with equality amongst everyone and that we're all the same and to have respect for everyone. But, I'm lumped together as part of a group or mentality that I'm not be sure a percentage of people were. Today, there's no separate bathrooms or assigned bus sittings, or you can't come into this resteraunt but people of color still act like it. At your job you have to be really careful what you say if your white, you'll get fired really quick. However, if it's a person of color, it's overlooked because it's the white man, like the German trying to fix, still, the past. White people didn't invade Africa and load people onto their boats and cart them off, nor were they the first. It was Africans that were offering their own for trade for bags of sugar, whites just capitalized on it. Slavery wasn't the issue, it had been going on for millenia and Africans even enslaved their own and today, abduct white girls and women for trafficking. The segregation was issue and both came to an end.

If you want to see how the minority have become the majority and how the majority are becoming the minority watch the excellently made YouTube videos "What Are We Doing to White People". It just scratches the surface of how things have changed. Kindness has been mistaken for weakness, and when you give an inch, they can take a whole mile.

Martin Luther King, Jr. wanted a equal and successful people. HE WAS A FRIGGIN DOCTOR that was saw opportunity stripped from a people that if given the ability to fire on all cylinders could be a successful and prosperous people, he didn't want laziness and resources consumption with no effort or work, he didn't want SSI collection and then sitting around. He wanted big names that have come along. Doesn't matter if your black or white, athletes are incredibly overpaid for their work. Millions of dollars to play a sport......meanwhile, youve got biologists working on cancer treatments and cures for all kinds of illnesses, but the NBA is one of the highest paying sports programs, if not the highest paying, hockey is the lowest paying.

It's a changing world, you don't know how the rides have turned, you're severely paying for the sins of your great grandfathers, even if they weren't that way to begin with, you're still lumped together in that group and today treated like trash and laughed at. They'll even say whatever they want and respond: ",What're ya gonna do? You can't do anything to me".
