Best Lead Performance of 2023

VGChartz's Lee Mehr: "As the average game script balloons in dialogue there's greater demand for marquee acting talent. And as illustrated by both good & poor examples from 2023, sympathizing with a protagonist's struggle greatly relies on both the writing and delivery. This is emphasized in two unique ways by this year's shortlist: the addition of a voice fundamentally altering Dead Space remake's story beats & the dual protagonist structure in Alan Wake II. A fumble in either of those respects would've resulted in lesser works; fortunately, they're among some of the year's most celebrated titles."

Alan Wake 2 Getting A Disc Edition Is A Massive Win For Physical Media Enjoyers

Hanzala from eXputer: "A major reason of Alan Wake 2 underperforming was no physical release; I'm glad the game's finally considering one, alongside a fabulous DLC."

It seems though Xbox Series X owners are being shafted though

Well atleast all those Xbox fans who told me to go cry in a corner when I complained about cyberpunk on ps5 being like that for Playstation buyers will know how it feels.

MetroidFREAK211d 17h ago

I got Cyberpunk on PS5 and have come to accept the DLC isn't on disc, even though I really want it to be. What's more important to me though is the base game being preserved in both instances and this is where Remedy is dropping the ball on Xbox

lodossrage1d 20h ago

This should have happened day 1.

I'm sure they'll get some buyers but nowhere near what they would have this came out day 1

shinoff21831d 18h ago

In a way I'm kinda glad this happened like this.

I'd prefer the most complete game on the disc. I don't need the latest and greatest. I've got patience

Also, releasing this way will send a message to publishers about the future of physical media. AW2 has struggled to become profitable, but if the physical release makes it profitable, they will have to acknowledge that there is real demand for physical media.

Not that they'll necessarily listen...

I see both your points

Honestly, in a small way I hope it doesn't sell well as an F U to the physical buyers that were forced to wait over a year. But I also see how that could be counter productive.

On topic, for all those of you that say "it's going to happen anyway" or "get used to it", this whole ordeal exposes the point I made years ago. The industry goes where YOUR wallet allows it to go. If people stop buying digital, what do you think will happen?, They'll be forced to go physical. Need proof? Look here at AW2

''Alan Wake 2 Getting A Disc Edition Is A Massive Win For Gaming''

/FIXED

neomahi1d 2h ago

Again, it's Collectors Edition ONLY and it's $200. There's no standard edition at the standard price so, unless you pay $200, keep dreamin

QuantumMechanic22h ago

You're mistaken. The announced deluxe version is to take the place of a standard version at retail.

Zenzuu1d 18h ago

Should've been available since day one.

shinoff21831d 18h ago (Edited 1d 18h ago )

Glad this is happening. Just a question cause I was trying to watch at work in the middle of a mold change lol. Is the dlc going to be on disc? It sounds like it.

I_am_Batman1d 18h ago (Edited 1d 18h ago )

It looks like the PS5 version will have the full game + DLC on disc. The Xbox version will require a download.
