They should have just stuck to 30fps only since the 60fps mode is a joke in terms of performance if those analysis are true, which is surprising since it was a PS4 game.

Promising no day 1 patch likely means there won't be an update for a good few months just to save face too. Disappointing.

Abriael361d ago (Edited 361d ago )

It never was a PS4 game. Yoshida-san said clearly it wouldn't run on PS4 at all.

Fake disappointment.

MaximusPrime_361d ago

Sparky here is so anti-Playstation. He's butthurted that all the best games are on PlayStation, even FF16. SquareEnix did the right decision to stop selling FF franchise on Xbox because it has been selling so crap lately.

sparky77361d ago (Edited 361d ago )

https://www.pushsquare.com/...

It was planned for the PS4 as well but they dropped it.

Abriael361d ago (Edited 361d ago )

"originally having a plan" does not make it a PS4 game. Planning does not involve development, in case you missed the memo.

Today he said very clearly that it wouldn't work at all, so they focused on PS5. Try again. The link you shared only confirms my point. This was never a PS4 game.

sparky77361d ago

Exactly it was planned for PS4 so it was being developed with the PS4 in mind. They were developing the game before the PS5 dev kits were even available, what dev kit do you think they used? P.S.4

But think what you will I guess lol.

Abriael361d ago

You obviously have no idea of what "planning" and "developing" mean.

goldwyncq360d ago

It was going to be at first, but they dropped it when it became clear that development would take at least two more years if they wanted the PS4 version to meet their standards.

Abriael360d ago

Again. Naoki Yoshida said today that it'd never run on PS4 even if they'd try, so they did not.

“Promising no day 1 patch likely means there won't be an update for a good few months…”

There will be one now, which will include an ‘optimize performance’ component.

**The update file will be distributed on June 20 and it'll be fairly small, about 300 megabytes. It won't be required to play the game**

Miraak82 360d ago (Edited 360d ago )

FF7r didn't have a day 1 patch except for the preorder unlocks and it was great , I got a great polished game from the get go

Flawlessmic360d ago

Why do you care? Not like you have a ps5 to play it on.

Move along with your fake concern please, we are all aware your just salty you can't play what is going to be the best or one of the best games of the year.

Stay salty.

__SteakDeck__360d ago

@Flawlessmic He admitted to me that he doesn’t own a PS5. He bases his opinions on trailers and reviews. He’s a fraud.

mkis007360d ago

If they have a 40 fps mode it will be a great balance.

Hofstaderman360d ago

Cry a bit more come the 22nd of June. We don’t play acquisitions, we play well crafted games.

repsahj360d ago (Edited 360d ago )

CRY T_T , Just wait for your starfield dude and just stack sandwiches all you want in 30fps.

MrNinosan360d ago

I play the demo in Resolution mode, and have only had small stuttering during last boss fight, but not that it was hurting my gameplay or feelings.

Also, they've already said there will be a day 1 patch, around 300mb, which you don't have to apply if you don't like.

Yoshi P is doing everything perfectly well, and being open and honest with all their decisions.

S2Killinit360d ago

Wow fake disappointment because generic scify starfield game has disappointed with 30 fps?

CrimsonWing69360d ago (Edited 360d ago )

I think you’re confused. They planned on making a PS4 version of the game, but due to LIMITATIONS they scrapped that version and kept it PS5 only.

I think in your mind you’re thinking it was a PS4 game they just up and released only on PS5, which you’re absolutely incorrect on.

https://www.dexerto.com/fin...

“The graphical fidelity and the scale of Final Fantasy XVI are simply too high to be released on a PS4 machine. In fact, if the developers even considered releasing it on a PS4, they would have to spend a lot of time toning down some of the depth of the game.”

So, no it wasn’t a “PS4 game” it was developed for next-gen—err current-gen with the idea they’d scale it down for PS4, but PS4 couldn’t be optimized for a stable build and instead of working on it to make a build that could work, they scrapped that idea, entirely. Very different from what I think you think you’re thinking this game was developed like.

Redgrave360d ago

By this logic, Starfield was also a Playstation game but everyone knows you aren't ready for that conversation because suddenly "planned for" won't mean the same thing you're purporting it to mean here.

shinoff2183360d ago

It's not a huge deal sparky relax.

BlaqMagiq1360d ago

Not once did they ever say it was developed for PS4. PLANNED and DEVELOPED are two different things. Clearly you don't understand that.

And we'll leave 30fps only to Starfield. Worry about that instead of FF16 since you won't be playing it.

gold_drake359d ago (Edited 359d ago )

eh no, its a fighting game, get off haha.

and they may have considered a ps4 version but dripped it.

disappointing attempt on your part.

Didn't have any issues myself and very much excited for this game!!

blackblades361d ago

One spot was the morbal boss fight when getting suck towards it. That was the time I noticed the drop. Other then that I didn't noticed or payed attention to whatever drops other people was experiencing. People are like critics insteadve just enjoying a game they scanned the screen for every little thing to complain about

repsahj360d ago

The performance do dip in castle area, but the other areas runs ok. But the demo is a year old and runs on ver 1.00(I think now its ver 1.01). The sony playstation showcase version is ver 1.003. So I'm sure the retail build runs better.

Sonic1881360d ago

"We are looking into adding an option to adjust motion blur and a switch to turn it off completely"

This was my main concern

CobraKai360d ago

I was really impressed with the demo. So far im digging the combat and the graphics look fantastic. I was playing on fidelity mode or whatever its called. I only noticed one time during the opening where it stuttered.

Tapani360d ago (Edited 360d ago )

I wish they would add a 40fps mode for 120hz TVs out there, or even 50fps mode so that it would be in the LFC range of standard VRR TVs. It's a Sony game, so I'd hope they'd hit the Sony Bravia series LFC range. The VRR didn't really help with the performance mode, it was incredibly erratic frame-time wise, felt extremely unpolished from purely performance perspective. Not sure if it was because I had the PS5 in 120hz mode, though.

Character graphics and cutscenes on the otherhand were very well polished. But again, the environments were super boring and limited tunnel runs mostly, and the player has three attributes only.

__SteakDeck__360d ago

Tatami “The environments were super boring, the limited tunnel runs mostly, and the player has three attributes only”. You only played the first two hours of the game bruh. Lol

Tapani360d ago

I am very willing to change my mind, but the 6 hour previews from various news outlets report similar stuff, and they were able to test the game at sections which were at around mid-way through. There seems to be couple of more open-ended areas, but most of the story-related areas are apparently quite closed, and less free than for example FFXII. The lacking environmental art was not only my complaint, seems like most of the tunnels and caves and castles look very similar as you go forward from one hallway to another, from one room to another.

This game will not be perfect, but I think the story will be so good, that not many will care. I do think the writing and story is as important than the gameplay system, but on the other hand, I'm a sucker for super detailed stats and attributes etc and love customizing a character. That being said, I don't like GaaS or MMO type progression systems. I guess I'm super picky lol !

I don't know about ''great'' rpg.

Most epic fight sequences and presentation? Yes

Worst side quests ever? Yes
Boring traversal? Yes
Empty worlds? Yes
Demo is infinitely more mature than the actual game? Yes
FF16=MMO side quests + Devil May Cry Lite

Alos8849d ago

I'd give it the great part, it's the RPG part I find dubious.

EternalTitan49d ago

There is no Roleplaying/decision making in this game.
No crafting there isnt even character builds because just like Dante/Bayonetta Clive has all skills and loadouts available to him.

CrimsonWing6948d ago (Edited 48d ago )

What do you mean there’s no role playing? Also, I’m fairly certain I made builds with Eikon abilities and I’ve gone to the blacksmiths to literally select craft weapons and gear. 🤷‍♂️

EternalTitan46d ago

How many 'builds' can you make?
Weapons and gear only increase numbers. Tell me about elemental weaknesses and status.

CrimsonWing6946d ago (Edited 46d ago )

@EternalTitan

Elemental weakness isn’t an RPG defining end-all-be all element.

What statuses are you asking about? F*cking status buffs and debuffs? You talking about stats that increase with gear crafting? Because all that’s present in the game.

The fact that you even admit there’s builds and RPG elements contradicts your claim. No matter how limited they may be, they exist in the game, therefore it is an RPG. I think the correct critique is instead of claiming it’s “not an RPG” you really mean to say it’s an RPG not as in-depth as it’s contemporaries. Regardless, it’s an RPG nonetheless even without “elemental weakness” playing in combat.

EternalTitan45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

@CrimsonWing69
"Elemental weakness isn’t an RPG defining end-all-be all element"
Why not?
Where is your source for this?

CrimsonWing6945d ago

@EternalTitan

So you’re telling me if a game has all the elements and mechanics of an RPG except elemental weakness exploits in combat that they’re not an RPG?

C’mon man, how about you show me where it says an RPG must have elemental weakness mechanics?

CrimsonWing6949d ago

Let’s be honest, this isn’t a “great” RPG. I am in the camp that it IS an RPG, no DMC game I’ve played is designed like this… but in terms of being a great RPG… well, I much prefer the RE-Trilogy over this.

That being said, I do think the DLCs have probably the best boss battles I’ve played in a game. Omega was crazy and the battle theme just amplified that for me. In the other hand, I’m struggling to think of a game that has a boss battle as great as Leviathan. Like, I played it on FF mode and it was sooooo intense and just a gorgeous and fun experience. The music was also top notch!

However, I really disliked most of everything of FF16. The Benedikta arc was fantastic, but after that the game was boring and a slog to get through. I think the boss battles were the best parts, but also inconsistent for me. Bahamut was peak for the base game, but everything else didn’t surpass that experience until you play the DLC bosses.

VersusDMC49d ago

The 2 DLC's were great. 2 new eikon ability sets (leviathan and...) and a survival/bloody palace mode with Rising Tide were great as well.

repsahj49d ago

The Base game is already great for me IMHO and the 2 DLC will even make it better.
