Not a massive Ubisoft fan but I least I won’t have to pay for their games when I do play them. I dabble with assassins still yet to start previous one tho (before valhalla)

VenomUK746d ago (Edited 746d ago )

Ubisoft+ is the paid for subscription service that will bring access to more than 100 titles, additional content packs, and rewards. The PlayStation release date has yet to be announced.

Aussiesummer746d ago

Yeah its a good move, I was a fairly regular player of assadins creed but skipped odyssey and only played a bit of Valhalla, they've become a bit grindy but the locales are great, it's always interesting to see where they go next.

RosweeSon746d ago

Yeah that’s it they are great gsmes, or solid 8/10’s at least and not quite as bad as Fifa, at least you get new settings etc but yeah got a bit burnt out, really enjoyed the Egyptian one few months back tho I got Odyssey to play (the one before valhalla) and I’ll check latest one out next year sometime 🙌🏻🤣 defo like to see it as set in Britain for at least parts of it.

Profchaos745d ago

I'd say more than a little grindy AC feels like a chore to play based on its grind levels prepare to dedicate 60 hours to finish the story alone in valhalla according to howlonhtobeat it's like they saw the numbers rdr2 was putting up and said hold my beer

iplay1up2746d ago (Edited 746d ago )

Honestly, I like Odyssey and Origins more than Valhalla. One of the best is Black Flag. If you want a BOTW Zelda like experience Fenyx Rising is fantastic. Corny yes, but a lot of fun!

Good job Sony!

outsider1624746d ago (Edited 746d ago )

Hopefully i can play the splinter cell series once again.

EvertonFC745d ago

You'll have to pay for the sub

It’s a good thing for Sony that this wasn’t lost to GamePass. This service is off to a promising start next month.

porkChop746d ago

Is it good though? With the GP/Ubi+ rumours people on N4G were talking shit about Ubisoft games. Now that Ubi has a deal with PS suddenly people are happy? N4G is so predictable.

745d ago
porkChop745d ago

@Onward

Ubi games are cookie cutter. Creative premise, sure, but they're all built on the same structure/foundation.

And no, people weren't suddenly praising Ubi once the GP rumours started. People didn't seem to care because Ubi's recent titles aren't worth playing. That's on top of Ubi's push for NFTs in everything. Mediocre games are mediocre games, they don't suddenly become good just because they get added to a subscription service.

MrBeatdown745d ago

This guy's got spreadsheets about all our opinions or something.

Must be exhausting.

Profchaos745d ago

Tbh still talking crap about them. They are great for really average run of the mill games and sentencing their franchises to death by repetition. Ubi is where innovation goes to die

745d ago
porkChop745d ago

@Prof

Agreed. They've got some really creative ideas but it doesn't matter when those ideas are handcuffed. I enjoyed the early bits of AC Valhalla because it felt different. But as soon as the game starts to open up it falls right back into the same tired formula. It got boring very quickly so I just gave up. Same issue with Watch Dogs Legion, though the different characters and abilities helped elevate it slightly more.

Not really, if your preference is quality over quantity.

rippermcrip746d ago

Right there's no quality in this list. Another Ubisoft hater.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
For Honor
The Crew 2
Child of Light
Eagle Flight
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Far Cry 3 Remaster
Far Cry 4
Legendary Fishing
Risk: Urban Assault
South Park: The Fractured but Whole
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Space Junkies
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Starlink: Battle for Atlas
STEEP
The Crew
The Division
Trackmania Turbo
Transference
Trials Fusion
Trials of the Blood Dragon Game
Trials Rising
Valiant Hearts: The Great War
Watch Dogs
Werewolves Within
ZOMBI

Godmars290746d ago

@rippermcrip:

Wholly not comprehending the point.

rippermcrip746d ago

What am I missing? This list has both quantity and quantity. You expect every single Ubisoft game or something?

MrNinosan746d ago

So a service which includes 27 games for free to already paying PS+ customers is not a good thing?
Out of those 27 games, I can count at least 10 that is worth playing.
There is more quality in most of Ubisoft games than it some of the last Xbox games.

Obscure_Observer746d ago

"Not really, if your preference is quality over quantity."

Not really when those screaming "quality" never played Ubisoft games at all.

Godmars290746d ago

@rippermcrip:
I expect to own things I paid for. And whether its directly through Ubi or Sony's sub service, you're only paying to access something on their terms. I mean, how many times have you heard about someone foul mounted idiot losing access to an account with thousands of dollars in games because of their foul mouth? And then there's paying for MT or season passes for these games you're only paying access to will rotated out or removed completely by market dictated whim.

gangsta_red746d ago

@Godmars
"I expect to own things I paid for."

So you're entire life you never rented anything, music, movies, etc and the concept and definition of what renting is unbeknownst to you?

I'm sure everyone here knows that the games offered won't be around for long but can still be enjoyed none the less.. because the game doesn't change at all whether it's bought or rented.

RosweeSon746d ago (Edited 746d ago )

Yep that went straight over their head we saw the list we said what we said Quality not quantities 🙄🤣🤷 27995;‍♂️ Agreed tho assassins great every couple of years not once a year it’s too much they are too big to be smashing through one every 12 months. South Park is South Park, not actually played second one yet but first was great and yeah literally the remainder of the list for me is an big meh 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣 won’t be touching 90% of it but it’s options lol. Might dabble with a far cry but think I did 4 defo did 3* and already got bored of the series it’s their FPS assassin’ up a tower reveal this shoot that insert a new villain bang a new number on the end 🙄🤣✌🏻

Godmars290746d ago (Edited 746d ago )

@gangsta_red:
Who rents music?

As for movies, bit of a difference between a 70 minute to 2 hour plus movie, and a game meant to be played through in 20 to 80 hours much less the hundreds of hours you can sink into one. Nevermind that were' not talking about renting just one game, but paying to access a library that can and will be arbitrarily changed with titles added or removed. While you likely pay for add ons to those games you have no real control of.

And staying on rentals, just like rental stores effected how movies were made, created the rental genre which has become the streaming genre, game streaming WILL effect how games are made. Just like mobile has effected and riddled them with MTs and ads.

@Obscure_Observer:
After the first, before said franchise is spammed to death, you mean.

gangsta_red746d ago

@godmars
"Who rents music?"

Spotify, Tital, Apple Music, etc etc etc...

"..bit of a difference between a 70 minute to 2 hour plus movie, and a game meant to be played through in 20 to 80 hours much less the hundreds of hours you can sink into one"

How is that a difference? You take a hard stance on owning a game because that game can be played for hundred of hours, are you suggesting that every game available even has that sort of content, especially sony single player games? You keep bringing up a lot of hypothetical, extreme situations that rarely happen and if they do it's an isolated case or not wide spread.

"just like rental stores effected how movies were made, created the rental genre which has become the streaming genre, game streaming WILL effect how games are made.

You actually didn't make any point with that comparison. How did it effect how movies are made, because all I'm still seeing summer blockbusters, more CGI and the same big budget hollywood flicks. (not counting the pandemic of course)
If anything streaming TV services had led to movie quality shows that most of the time beat anything releasing in theaters.

"..game streaming WILL effect how games are made. Just like mobile has effected and riddled them with MTs and ads."

MT's and ads are already in games without a rental subscription service, it's been a staple in mostly all games for the past two generations with very few exceptions. Not seeing how all of a sudden streaming/rental is going to give rise to this even more when this is the direction games have been in already.

I originally asked what changes in a game when you rent it as supposed to buying it. All you're telling me is what you personally think might happen with features and options that are already a solidified in gaming.

Godmars290746d ago

@gangsta_red:
Do you understand the difference between "rental" and "subscription"? Much less "video movie" and "theatrical blockbuster or release"?

gangsta_red746d ago

@Godmars

"Do you understand the difference between "rental" and "subscription"? Much less "video movie" and "theatrical blockbuster or release"?"

Maybe I would if your comparisons made sense.

You're renting the game from a sub service, now how does that game change by renting and not owning? And no "what if" scenarios please.

Godmars290746d ago

"You're renting the game from a sub service, now how does that game change by renting and not owning? And no "what if" scenarios please."

Halo Infinite. You're not worth further explanation.

gangsta_red746d ago (Edited 746d ago )

Expected weak sauce, and proves my intial point you have no idea what you're complaining about.

Halo Infinite's problem isn't a product direved from GP.

Cyberpunk, No Man's Sky, GT 7 and many more that I'm sure anyone here can name have had development issues after release and none of them was on a gaming service.

Notellin746d ago

Hahaha that list is awful. Most of those games are $5. Valhalla and Child of Light for me but I could pick those up for nothing now.

VersusDMC746d ago

I assumed it would just be old games(and it mostly is) but i was surprised AC Valhalla is included day one.

fishcake746d ago

I mean, 50 games by the end of the year is pretty significant, and it's not actually just old games.

It's not about how new or old games are it's about quality and fun. There are games that are decades old that I can play for the first time today and have tons of fun playing them still.

I wonder who the nut jobs are that will get this. Seriously Ubisoft isn't worth a sub and having this along side ps+ y'all must be rich.

BeHunted84d ago (Edited 84d ago )

Disclaimer: It's always cheaper purchasing the entire Ubisoft Game Edition when they're on sale.

OtterX84d ago

Exactly. Ubisoft prices plummet soo fast and hit some incredible lows. I probably wouldn't own every Assassin's Creed game if it weren't for the dirt cheap sales they hit.

jznrpg84d ago

This service is for the severely uninformed. These games are in bargain bin why rent them monthly?

Profchaos84d ago

Exactly you can pickup most of their backlog for 5 bucks a pop with change I've seen some older titles go for as little as $1 like watch dogs

PS5’s lack of Ubisoft+ Premium is both frustrating and confusing

Ubisoft has revamped its Ubisoft+ subscription service, but Sony needs to get in on its Premium tier for PS5 as Xbox continues to boast better day-one access.

Why, do people really want this. 17.99 lol ubisoft slow down. Should be 10 at most

fr0sty135d ago

They want WAY more than PS+ Premium costs, and this site is trying to spin it as if PS fans are missing out by not getting ripped off by Ubisoft...

Jin_Sakai135d ago

Yea I’d rather not have 15 different subscription services.

Christopher134d ago

10 years from now: Why doesn't PS7 have all 10 options for game subscriptions services? Why is it still focusing on selling games!?

fr0sty134d ago (Edited 134d ago )

I think the game subscription service bubble will have popped by then, just like it's popping right now for movie and show subscription services. It's evolving the exact same way... A couple services pop up that offer it all, the content providers start getting greedy and decide to launch their own services and begin pulling content from the original services to make it exclusive to their own, people get sick of having to have 10 different subs pulling $100 a month out of their accounts, and it all goes belly up.

shadowT136d ago

17.99 per month only for Ubisoft games..

TwoPicklesGood135d ago

Not sure why it’s not on PS but hopefully that changes. The more options the better.

Zeke68135d ago

The less subscriptions in my life the better in my opinion.

Mr Logic135d ago

It existing as an option does not force you to subscribe.

Zeke68135d ago (Edited 135d ago )

@Mr Logic
I know :) I just meant I dislike the fact that "they" shove tv, movie, game and whatnot-subscriptions down our throats. The endresult for me and my wife at least, is that we start to avoid them altogether.
So in the long run these companies actually loose money on us. I just wish more people would boycott it so we can get rid of 90% of the crap ones out there. (subscriptions that is) :)

Mr Logic135d ago

@ Zeke
I get where you're coming from. Besides PS+ and Prime (for the shipping) I haven't had any subscription for 5+ years.

GamingSinceForever135d ago (Edited 135d ago )

Why you got downvoted is beyond comprehension.

ModsDoBetter135d ago

N4G - the hive mind see it as a negative light on Papa PlayStation when @Two said they're not sure why it's not on PS. Anything that can be taken even as slight criticism is downvoted by the drones.

MrNinosan135d ago

It's enough with the free package we get with Ubisoft.
Would never pay 18$/month for this, that's way more than I pay for PS+ Premium.

The new Ubisoft+ and getting gamers comfortable with not owning their games

Ubisoft has rebranded its subscription offering and introduced a new service for PC players. 'more to come' on Activision Blizzard

"Gamers are used to owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen"

:(

ravens52135d ago

Lol. I don't understand how people still want an all digital future, those are the people ok with not owning "their" games. "Convenient " Just get up and switch the disc 🙄. My BG3 copy comes Q2 2024. I don't "own" Alan Wake 2, and have no plans to until its released as a physical copy. Smdh.

CobraKai135d ago

Literally everything they blasted MS for when they revealed the Xbox One is not only coming true, but lovingly welcomed.

Escamotage135d ago

You seemed to be confused between the debate of owning physical versus owning digital games, and the debate of subscribing to versus owning a game. These are two separate issues.

I will say there is a misconception on the physical vs. digital debate which is that own a physical disc is just owning an install disc. You're still installing the actual game into your hard drive just like owning it digitally.

jjb1981135d ago

I totally would rather have physical discs but the problem nowadays is that a lot of games are not finished. Several have gamebreaking bugs that could stall your progress late in a game. So these games need a Day 1 patch or several patches to remedy the issues. I wouldn't care much to play vanilla Cyberpunk from a disc if I could no longer receive patches. The problem is with games being rushed out the door with "Gone Gold" status.

Ps5conehead134d ago

I have disability’s I have great internet. I like digital it is easier to do with my disabilities . Everyone is different. If you like physical disk that’s fine others like me like not changing disk. I have never been not able to redownload are stream any game I paid for

Bobertt134d ago

It's mostly lazy and dumb people I see supporting digital games. I could understand if the digital versions were at least discounted since they cost less to make but they aren't so there is no good reason to get the digital version when the physical is available.

ravens52134d ago

Escamotage, at least you get theres not only a code on the disc lol. Im not confused in the least though digital is digital, whether its subscription based or your buying your games from a digital store front. You dont own them. They undid it, but point in case is the removal of the Discovery Channel videos from customers. Its entirely possible for them to take your digital purchases. They'd have to physically come to my home and take my games. If the internet is ever tampered with I can play any of my games. A lot of hypotheticals but its possible.

I'm comfortable with never giving Ubisoft a penny again.

Shane Kim135d ago

Same. I mean what kind of statement is that? Gamers need to unite against this bs.

dumahim135d ago

Same. It's been about 2 years now. Don't see any reason to change that now.

jeromeface135d ago

Gamers are uniting alright, and filling up these corperate pockets. I tried to start a crusade when they introduced horse armor dlc that was only useful for making fancy screenshots but I digress. Now every game has a battlepass, its sickening.

Redgrave135d ago

Publishers need to start feeling comfortable with having their games pirated.

Leeroyw135d ago

Just look at the drop in quality from other subscription media. They push out content to fill quotas now. Not to make a memorable film or TV show. I worry this will be the future for gaming. Vote with your wallets.

Christopher137d ago

$18/month is a big cost for people who can get most of the older catalogue for cheap as heck.

OtterX135d ago

Right? And if I've learned anything is to not buy their games at launch, ever, because they plummet in price faster than any other major 3rd party studio that I can think of.

JackBNimble135d ago

Ubi isn't good enough for me to ever consider a service from them. And know that their plan is "you'll own nothing " further hardens my stance.

Maybe if they made good games but they don't and I'm sure not paying more then the cost of psplus. Infact I canceled extra when the raised the price 30%

jjb1981135d ago

Ubisoft knows it and that's probably why they include it in Game Pass and PS Premium.

GotGame818134d ago

No, it isn't included with PS+ or GP. EA play is included with GP only. UBI is a standalone subscription.

jjb1981134d ago

@GotGame818 I can literally play the Ubisoft classics with my PS Plus subscription. There's a section for it.

gold_drake137d ago

its a sad estimate that nothing you pay for is actually yours these days.

hard pass.

Vits137d ago

Ubisoft is a somewhat odd company to offer a subscription service since their games don't retain value. Typically, within a month or two, you can find them at significantly lower prices. Therefore, including new releases and DLC in the subscription is essentially their only method to justify the subscription cost and give it some semblance of value.

shinoff2183136d ago

The time of year they usually release they can be had on black friday sales everywhere. For half the price.

Shikoku135d ago

They don't retain value because they are cookie cutter reskins of the same game mechanics over and over in every game.
