PS5 has been rated by FCC and for the first time, multiple images have been shared giving a closer look at the console and its stand from various angles.

Not seeing a spot for the storage expansion. I'm guessing we will pop off one of the sides to get access to that.

I think as far as they've said, only storage expansion is via USB. Because of the custom SSD you won't be able to swap out internals like previously. And any expanded storage is merely just for storage. You'll have to move at least PS5 games from the storage onto the SSD. Might still be able to play PS4 games of USB HD. It's why Xbox has that proprietary expansion card, to ensure compatibility.

Diver is correct. Expansion is via standard internal NVMe drives. USB storage is available, but only for playing PS4 games.

They didn't show the back, but I think there are 2 USB 3.2 ports finally on the back.

No optical out though. That's a bummer. I've been using those since PS2 and still do to this day. I guess it'll be the first thing I'll be running to the receiver and then to the TV from there.

Dolby Atmos maybe important to Movies as a "standard" , But for gaming, its just another tech repurposed for just more Licensing fees... Too add... Dolby has nothing but market share having had their foot in the door in the early years... Like Protools.. Avid... Its ingrained in the industry..... Lake DSP, Roland were years ahead in 3d sound... But , Just like LUFS standard, Deliverables for iTunes, Soundcloud ect... Or a LUT for Video editing software... Its a standard of criteria that must be met... Thats all. Is their Algorithm the best? Well, that's open to argument..

In game, with some of the details Sony has shared, The implementation for gaming is head and shoulders above Atmos.

The best thing about this is you don't have the ridiculous PS4 back hood that made plugging cables when the console was in your entertainment cabinet always a struggle. This just has the plugs open and flat just like the old PS3.

I don’t see dedicated port for the PS Camera this time. I do wonder how PSVR backwards compatibility will work, if at all out of the box with the new HD camera and if it will improve tracking at all.

As it is the PSVR launch model doesn’t pass through HDR, though it does 4K fine. Also something I hope to see addressed soon. I have more PAVR games than regular PS4 games.
