This attempted shaming of consumers is pathetic. We all know too often publishers and studios under deliver by a wide margin what they sold to the public. Just because you feel you worked hard doesn't mean you deserve praise. Don't over hype a game and then under deliver and expect everyone to just say it's ok because you feel you worked hard. Now studios need their safe space too?

He still makes some valid points. Many games have gotten overhyped for the wrong reasons and particulary towards the wrong people. The disapointment that follows from that is not just the fault of the developers or the publishers. If you buy something because you thought it was something other than what it was and the relevant information was available to you. You can only really blame your own ignorrance.

I. E. When games like Destiny, Anthem or The Division are all marketed as lite-mmo gaas titles. When people then go on to buy destiny because the want another Halo or Anthem because they want another Mass Effect. They have no one to blame but themselves.

Don't get me wrong. These games deserve criticism, but all too often the majority of criticism is entirely unrelated to the property being sold.

Its like they but a boat thinking it was going to be a car, then go on to complain that it was not a car, despite the fact that it always was and is a boat will never change.

Ah, another example of «gaming journalism», calling everyone who complains «whiny kids». People paid money for this game and soon they will not be able to play it anymore, they have every right to went their frustration in any way, shape or form they see fit. And you do know that some people might've bought the game but didn't play it for any reason, now their money just vanished, basically.

Also, this:
«The salesman pitches to you the perfect car. It’s fast, efficient, safe, and stylish. It’s everything you wanted. However, only the chassis is currently available for purchase. The vehicle is pending the completion of an experimental cold fusion engine, which will be shipped to you for free when it’s ready. Excited, you buy the hulk. Unfortunately, the fusion engine never makes it to production.

In a meta sense, the salesman probably shouldn’t have sold you hard on something he didn’t have. The manufacturer really should’ve had the experimental engine ready before selling units. Ultimately though, you’re still the idiot that bought just half a car.»

a. calling people «idiots», nice move, mr. «journalist»;
b. is completely wrong. This is not Kickstarter, when they sell you an idea, a pitch. Using your analogy - car is working, you can use it (for a price), it just missing some pieces, like sits, doors and stuff (aka, missing features), sometimes it turns off for no reason (aka, bugs and glitches), but hey, it's early access. But now, it will stop working, for no reason, someone will just flip the switch to "OFF". And developers are saying they do not want to continue to support it, they don't want to search for a buyer, yet they already had Atlas coins (aka, microtransactions). And you expect people to not be angry about it?

And another thing, why do you care? Game is closing down, who cares about the rating now?! You can't even buy the freaking game anymore.

Whiny bloggers embarrass themselves......again.

How did anyone expect people to react to the news that a MMO they paid money for was going away?

Early access... This is literally why you don't buy early access games.

With that said article is stupid because people aren't reacting like he says in the comment section: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

This is one of the most disgusting articles I've read in a long time. It and it's author are disconnected from reality and the language used to reference gamers and it's own audience is pathetic, hostile and outright insulting.
"Giving gamers a voice in journalism" is ironic and disingenuous. Coin-drop is now on my blacklist.
