Capcom released a new trailer for DmC Devil May Cry.

one thing I notice is that the game looks different each time. I was happy to see the stinger make a comeback. Man, I remember the first trailer and that was bad, but now it looks better.

was always optimistic about the new DMC. game always reminded me of DMC3 which is, by far, the best in the series. his whole attitude seemed reminiscent of the DMC3 dante which i love, and this trailer just proves it. still can't really judge until i get my hands on it. absolutely can't wait! it better come out in early fall 2012.

only thing i dislike about the narrative, not that any previous DMC game had amazing narrative (which is why they went to Ninja Theory in the first place), is his mom being an "angel"... i could do without that.

I'd like to take a moment and thank Ninja Theory for slapping the s#!% out of all the haters.

This trailer has me highly excited for the new Dmc. Combat was the only thing I was ever concerned about, but with Capcom working with Ninja Theory, and seeing this trailer I have no concerns whatsoever regarding this game.

The new look, was a bit weird at first (he looked like a drug addict to me), but that wasn't something to make me not buy a game, nor should it be enough to anyone who calls themselves gamers. But after seeing the previous trailers his look improved. But in this trailer Dante is hot, and I'm not ashamed to say it.

Oh and the city, coming to life is just kick@$$.

Anyways, at 1st I was just as pissed about them changing Dante's regular look, but after a while it started not to matter to me. And to be honest, the game has been getting more interesting to me so I can look past the redesign.

I'm always open to new ideas, so I never had anything bad to say about the new direction. I was only worried about the gameplay since that hasn't been NT's strong point.

However, since they're working with Capcom that worry was suppressed, and now I'm all for this new direction.

Old Dante will be missed, but the new Dante (in this trailer only) looks kind of. . . . . Hot :D, and he has the attitude.

Uh, I believe whatever Bob said about Dante to be completely false. The news are basically a means of controlling the population.
It's obvious that someone trying to stop Dante and by branding him a terrorist, the chance of him being spotted will only grow larger.

It's also interesting to note that Dante is fully aware of the newscaster's way of presenting him and is giving him the finger so that he can put a spin on it/twist this information to nurture Dante's bad image.

In short, the news are fake and Dante isn't a sexual deviant.

Just rewatched it, and it's quite apparent that there's a battle going on between Dante and the newscaster who probably represents a bigger entity.
"We will find you. We will destroy you. It's only a matter of time." This isn't a piece of news, it's a warning. And I wonder what he means by "Just doing God's work". There's a chance that, here, "God" is referring to the one who said "You don't fuck with a god" in the previous trailer.

But enough with my ideas.
If there's one thing I loved about this trailer, it's the colors. Ninja Theory sure knows how to create beautiful environments. Now, no screen tearing would be more than appreciated.

The Unreal Engine cannot compare with inhouse engines and 1st party devs have proven this. They may look good from far but are far from good uplcose.

GoW and Castlevania LoS was a classic example where upclose textures and details didnt hold up to GoW.

Enslaved trying out the dynamic landscapes could only do it with almost empty backdrops and the fraphics took a hit by becoming a bit washed out.

As for DMC looking better, i dont think so. This is like a Failing movie trailer, it has probably got more action and flair than the rest of the game. Until they can compare the gameplay and action to Bayonetta, i aint buying into NT and Crapco delivering a solid DMC experience.

You are claiming that unreal cannot compare with inhouse engine, and then as an example for Unreal mediocre performance you compare God of War 3 to Castlevania LOS which in fact WAS AN INHOUSE ENGINE (and mainly developed towards the PS3) and has nothing to do with Unreal Engine!?
(Unless by GOW3 you actually meant Gears of War 3 and not God of War 3which then just contradicts your statement)

In fact, both examples aren't good examples for upclose textures since both GOW and Castlevania don't look very good up close. These are faced paced action games of scale and big enemy encounters (much bigger in case of GOW, which is where it shines), so the focus is obviously not on close up details.

And another gripe with Castlevania is that the developer (mercurysteam) was never renowned for their technological skills (unlike Santa Monica), so it's also a matter of how good is the developer and not just the tools. Amazingly looking titles like Gears of War 3, Batman, ME3, and the upcoming Bioshock Infinite prove that with the right developers Unreal Engine shines and can put to shame almost any in-house engine be it from 1st party or 3rd party devs.

Ninja Theory are skilled developers. They proved it once with their in-house engine for PS3 with Heavenly Sword (which was one of the best looking PS3 titles at the beginning of the console lifecycle), and proved it again with Enslaved which was Unreal Engine based and looked even better than their in-house based HS. So far their version of DMC is looking as if they still got the touch (and so far better looking than DMC4, which makes sense since it's a 2008 game)

4) your arguement sounds more like UE being Gods gift in delivering the no:1 graphics show pieces ever. The fact is and I wont deny Gears having fantastic graphics, the bottom line is the total package to date still hasnt topped Uncharted for graphics, or GoW, or Heavy Rain or Killzone. Graphics is not just static things you look at, or the size of an enemy, or the number of dynamic light sources, it is the combination of many things which add to the end product.

Take GoW 3: the detail on Kratos, his armour and skin is unreal, as the camera zooms out its still very sharp and you fight several enemies in an area with several dynamic light sources which then turns out to be a titan who is not static, but moving around affecting everything around it; how the trees move, the bushes, your character etc. games like Asuras Wrath have not been able to pull off the same detail or quality as they had to sacrifices to accomodate 1 or the other.

In Uncharted where you are playing a level and are having a gun fight whilst a chopper is tearing the hotel to pieces and how the whole hotel and all within it reacts as the building crumbles to pieces.

Call it what you like, and yes I am serious or I wouldnt have stated my opinion, nor would you. If you like the UE, then good for you. No one is forcing you to belueve otherwise. You need to learn that not everyone will share your opinion and not everyone is a fan of the UE. Its called reality and thats just way it is.

I personally dont care if this is on UE or not. Graphics dont need to be 100% solid for this game as much as the gameplay being tight, resonsive and action packed. I would rather have NT use an engine that could deliver the gameplay at 60fps as it should be and thereby deliver a true DMC game instead of what it is right now- colourful story telling but lacking in combat due to 30fps.

Nothing that we have seen on consoles that uses the Unreal Engine has equaled Uncharted 1.

Uncharted 1 has been surpassed by several games, all of which use something besides the Unreal Engine. I suppose that it is possible that every developer who uses UE is categorically worse than the developers who use in-house engines.

I only have a few questions,

- Why didn't they use MT Framework instead of the Unreal Engine?

I still see no reason why they decided jump ship using MT because it managed to make the game look good and still run at 60 frames per second. Something still nagging me that Capcom only switched engines with both DMC and Asura's Wrath so it can appeal to the western audiences.

Why haven't they continued the original Devil May Cry story?

Obviously if you play this new game and it's not to your liking, then that's that. There's nothing wrong with disliking a new direction in a franchise.

There is, however, something fundamentally wrong with judging a game like this simply on the grounds that it's DIFFERENT FROM PREVIOUS GAMES...especially considering no one here has had any time with it whatsoever. Some of the highest regarded games of all time are those that took the time to reinvent themselves in one form or another (Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Fallout 3).

And I'm not trying to say that this new DMC is going to be another example of that, but I do think it's a little ridiculous for "fans" to be this reluctant for change. I mean, pretty much all I've read from various publications has been very positive so far, so what's the deal you guys?

Dude nothing is wrong with change when it is necessary however I see no reason for the protagonist to get a makeover nor reducing the frames per seconds from 60 to 30 to use an engine that wasn't needed in the first place.

Nothing was wrong with Devil May Cry 4 other than it was a prequel, not saying they should have made it exactly like the previous installments but nobody has yet to show me the improvements in combat from this new DMC compared to Devil May Cry 3 or 4 or said the looks of the new Dante is so much better than the last.

All I see is Capcom trying a poor attempt to change Kamiya's work into something that it's not because they don't have enough confidence in their own development team to take on the challenge of taking it to the next level.....

As an answer to why it's not being done on the MT Framework engine bare in mind Ninja Theory is developing this game not Capcom, all Capcom has to do is give them funding (They say they have some creative control but I haven't seen any evidence of it).

As for the reason why Ninja Theory isn't using the MT Framework engine this is because they didn't want to take a year to learn how to use that engine while the company itself was familiar in using the Unreal Engine.

There is no gain from NT using the MT framework, it would be wasted time learning how to function a new engine and would probably need alot of capcom staff to show them how the engine works.
After this DmC project NT will need to go back to using UE3 so basically them learning how to use the MT framework would have been a complete waste of time.

Actually it doesn't take anything much to change it... its like adding a new skin unto a character. It' only the cut scenes that may be an issue...

I don't actually care if they change it... I just want the DMC story to make sense, and for them to explain WHY he looks different... The issue here is Ninja Theory already said its not within the DMC universe as we know it... this is bull in my view and an easy way out for them to try and appease fan rage... It will take a lot of convincing for me to pick this up. I see new comers to the franchise getting it though.

The game continues to look better, despite what the 'purist hipsters' say in their smear campaign. While its a bit disheartening that the original Dante character design has been put on the back burner, the graphics look fantastic, the art direction is lovely and while not 60fps, the combat is increasingly looking like the kind of combat I come to expect from a Devil May Cry game.

End of the day, gameplay wise, the game never looked terrible. I think that the whining and hate has become overtly hyperbolic. If you don't like what you say, don't by the game. But I know for a fact that the same people hating will buy this game day one, whether they end up liking it or not. If you were a 'true' Devil May Cry fan as you so rightly claim, you wouldn't be so close minded and quick to write off your 'beloved' franchise. As long as its better than 4, I'm happy, personally.

Personally, I think DmC looks a bit too flashy with Too much lights. Though DMC was suppose to be dark.
