Ghost of Tsushima's Crossplay Patch Has Somehow Ruined the Game with Stuttering

A new Ghost of Tsushima update has introduced a nasty stuttering issue. Patch 2.19 released just hours ago, primarily adding crossplay support ahead of the PC version's launch on the 16th May. However, there are widespread reports that the PS5 and PS4 title is now borderline unplayable, with players encountering regular hitches, stutters, and freezing all across Jin's adventure.

Sucker Punch - "We have resolved a backend issue that was causing gameplay to consistently hitch for players.

This does not require a game update, but we recommend restarting your game or console to ensure you have the fix."

Dfooster15d ago

I restarted the console twice. Re-downloaded the game and the stutter was still there. Having said that it did clear after about an hour of frustrating gameplay.

Should this article be removed or marked as Failed now? Even the headline in the article itself is updated.

Great job on them fixing it up so quickly.

neutralgamer199214d ago

I own it on PS5 but can’t wait to enjoy it on PC. Never got around to playing it on PS5. Sucker punch are one of my favorite game developers (still hoping for another infamous or at the very least infamous 1-2 Remastered collection)

HansyJ14d ago (Edited 14d ago )

😂 Buys a game on the console it’s meant for but chooses not to play and instead spend full price to buy the game again on a different console that will play the game the exact same but probably not as good considering it’s native for PS five. Strange ppl

Skuletor14d ago

Unlocked frame rates and support for ultra-wide (21:9), super ultra-wide (32:9), and triple monitor (48:9) aspect ratios are two major differences I can think of.

neutralgamer199213d ago (Edited 13d ago )

Hansy

I keep buying more games and never getting around to playing them. Nothing against it being on PS5. I am a PlayStation fan but recently moved to PC gaming and IMO it’s better (tired of micro transactions on consoles)

Mods and single player game cheats are awesome on PC. (I miss the days of cheat codes but kha available on PC)

"ruined the game"....

a bit superlative there. the game isn't "ruined", its got a bug. bugs can be fixed. when something is ruined, it is no longer usable permanently.. software is hardly permanent and can be fixed 100% of the time. so while it may be unplayable for some right now, and that's annoying, it isn't ruined... unless they leave it... which they obv won't.

Ghost of Tsushima is being negatively reviewed on Steam due to its forced PSN requirements similar to Helldivers 2.

I don't know why sony would want people to sign into their service as if sony ownS the game.

gold_drake1d ago

not sure if sarcasm or not, but they do own the ip tho. ha.

thorstein23h ago

They're review bombing because PSN is required to play multiplayer.

Unlike some sites have claimed, it's not a launcher, it's just an overlay.

It's a bizarre thing to review bomb over since anyone can play it the single player game without it.

It's a single player game. The MP is bonus material.

StormSnooper2h ago

I know it’s not like every other company requires people to sign into their account. S:

gold_drake1d ago

sigh.
just make it an option, not a requirement.

StormSnooper2h ago

Yes just because all other companies require you to log in doesn’t mean PlayStation should be allowed to do the same.

gold_drake2h ago

thats a weird thing to say. if all the others require you to do it, why should they not be allowed to?

how about we dont make it a requirement, period?

OWCY2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

You keep saying this. But research first maybe. Most company's have wide reach so they are pretty much everywhere, psn has like a 62 country reach, so it's alienate all the other countries that doesn't have psn access...

Christopher1d ago

Sony made the mistake of requiring a login for their service like EA, Take2, Microsoft, Rockstar, and more and by being named Sony.

I'd be more supportive of this drive to push back against secondary logins if people were actually criticizing the biggest offenders out there. But this is just controversy for Sony, not for the plethora of other companies.

Why can't you just recognize this as a step forward, why because it's Sony everyone need to prove their loyalty to the cause first before they attack them, Sony always needs to come last for you

Christopher3h ago

Because they immediately stopped at Sony. I wholeheartedly support the movement, but gamers aren't moving forward with it. And that's why I'm rolling my eyes at gamers who think they're fighting the good fight. They're not. Just pounding chests and letting the worse offenders get away.

DivineHand1251h ago(Edited 1h ago)

Were you living under a rock when it was reported that PSN is only available in a limited amount of countries? Compared to the other companies which greatly support more countries.

Because of Sony's requirement, their games like Helldivers 2 and Ghost of Tsushima have been delisted in over 170 countries. These restrictions would not have been in place if Sony didn't suddenly mandate those logins.

1h ago
thorstein1h ago

According to Steam, Sony, and Arrowhead, HD2 and GoT is available in 73 countries.

There are 195 countries on Earth.

Skuletor1h ago

Christopher is definitely aware of that situation, he's acting like Will Smith when he slapped Chris Rock right now, performing selective outrage.

Hey Sony, At this point either make it an option or don't release your games on PC

blackblades2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

I mean they review bomb all they want it still the #1 selling game at the moment on steam. Its best for Sony to stick it out and let the login normalize it. If those pc user really wanted to play there games like they said they did at one point. They'll comply with the login and stop being a B* about it and stop using the Sony hack 20 years ago as an excuse to not want a psn account. Matterfact just heard the game is already being pirated. This is the reason why there should be something to stop them or make it hard for them.

TiredGamer1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

The review bombing is childish behavior and it’s only serving to undermine the “review” system in the end. If you don’t like something, don’t buy it. It’s okay. You don’t have to go out of your way to sling mud and burn down couches in the street to express your displeasure.

TiredGamer1h ago(Edited 1h ago)

How about this… if I create a product, I am allowed to sell it the way I want to sell it. Sony’s not requiring a login just because they want to be funny or to piss people off. They are establishing an ecosystem and there is rationale, some known and some unknown to us, for why they would want to do it. If a consumer does not agree, they have the option of not buying the product. Seems like a fair situation.

CrashMania20h ago

Is it? Currently only just over 2000 reviews at 83% positive.

Ghost Of Tsushima's PSN May Be Online-Only, But People Still Can't Play It

Sucker Punch’s massive samurai adventure Ghost of Tsushima has come under fire because of the PSN requirement. However, unlike Helldivers 2, things are a lot different and more logical this time.

thorstein2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

"Sony has made it clear long before its release that the PSN requirement is strictly for the online multi-player Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima and the PlayStation overlay. Online connection or PSN is not applied to the single-player campaign, which is honestly what the game is all about."

Extermin8or3_2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Legends clearly was based around using the pan they hardly want to have to design a whole new account structure just to play it, that's alot of effort and work. Ultimately people kicked up a fuss despite there being workarounds in most of those territories that people with a ps console have used over there for literally like 15/16 years. This is the consequence of that, be careful what you wish for or demand because you don't necessarily get to pick the method by which you get it.

melmacj2d ago

This game is not Helldivers 2. Every game doesn’t need to be Call of Duty. I may or may not play one minute of the online component. I’m buying it solely for the story/campaign. Sony needs to integrate it better but Microsoft does the same with Xbox live account. It’s an ecosystem they will always want to tie into the console audience and frankly don’t know why this is such a big deal.

Seafort2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

It is because the PC isn't a console and shouldn't be tied to the same restrictions the console gamers are. If Sony wants PC gamers to buy their games they will need to learn what I and many others will accept.

Trying to harvest our personal details for any of their games on PC will not fly.

Andrew3362d ago

If Pc gamers want to play Sony games on their PC they will need to have a PSN account. It's not that difficult, people just like to cry on the Internet.

melmacj2d ago

Or they can keep the games exclusive and you can keep dreaming about god of war Ragnarok on PC. Sony under no obligation to release on PC. You don’t like it don’t play it. I pick my battles in life.

cthulhucultist2d ago

cant wait to play this masterpiece!

neutralgamer19922d ago

I want to play it for single player and if I want to try legends I am willing to log into my PSN account. What’s the big deal anyway? If I want to play a rockstar game from steam I still have to have a different launcher and account other that launcher and same goes for UBI. On PC we have so many store front anyway what’s another log in. BTW the way we the pc gamers reacted to HD2 will only mean Sony will make it clear before launch that their online is only available with PSN account
