It's going to be amazing. I love how originally the developers kept saying the game was only going to have large zones. Then they just casually dropped the fact that it's an actual open world now. They went above and beyond their own plans for the game, and that's how you know it's going to be an incredible game. I'm taking like 4 days off work when this drops, haha.

One of the greatest feelings of awe that I had while playing the original FFVII was leaving Midgar for the first time and discovering the vast world map that you could explore. This was the first game that sparked my interest in open worlds and huge explorable maps, and I’m happy to hear that Rebirth will be continuing the trend.
