This one really seems to be a step up with explorable depths and more gameplay mechanics.
I was just hoping Alloy hair and clothes could get wet after swimming.. It really contradicts with the rest

I'm glad you can now highlight climbing parts with the focus as that was one the minor gripes I had with Zero Dawn. They didn't show the inventory management but I'm sure GG will improve on that too. Everything shown looked awesome.

My first thought when seeing the grappling/gliding was arkham asyluym. But obviously different environment and I see where the comparison to BotW comes from (just purely from an environment pov). Another game that came to mind was Enslaved, with the main character fighting robots with a staff or other weapons in a post apocalyptic future. But that doesnt look nearly are beautiful as horizon.

Yes i'm glad more developers are taking inspiration from BOTW for their open world games since that game is top tier as far as open world game design goes. Ghost of Tshushima is one of my favourite games of all time thanks to that and this game looks good too so far.

The art style is the same but the world is so much more alive....the foliage, the machines, the sheer amount of stuff going on in the environments is a completely different level. Same engine, major improvements. I'll be interested to see the differences between quality and framerate mode for this game.

The so called dinosaurs are machines but they are based on creatures that existed tens of millions of years ago (ie. Terror birds) and even a few thousand years ago (ie. Mammoths). Of course Pterodactyl (the mechanical flying creatures called Glint Hawks) are not dinosaurs since they existed over 200 million years ago.

Actually in HZD the machines that are related to dinosaurs are Watchers and Thunderjaws.

At the moment I actually don't want to finish HZD + DLC since I am really enjoying the game although I do have a tendency to rest by playing Dark Souls 1, 2, 3 and NioH all of which I don't really want to finish. Sigh when you have a PS+ account you end up great (and some IMHO, not so great) games.

Now if I can only get a PS5. Still all my favourite games are on my PS4 so I can wait and the second generation PS5 looks like a winner.

The PS4pro and (of course) the PS5 can display at 4K although all PS4's can display HDR if the game supports it and your display can interpret it.

Unfortunately some HDR 4K TV's may not be able to interpolate a HDR enabled game from a PS4. My LG 31.5in (80cm) HDR 4K monitor does display HDR enabled games properly from my PS4 (base model). Later I will definitely get a PS5 but unfortunately they are low in stock where I live and I refuse to pay a scalper.

Still not being able to get a PS5 just yet can work in my favour since the M2 slot is not yet operational and a new model is also in the works.

I'm mostly happy with her Melee being SUPER upgraded as that's how I prefer to fight most enemies. Like that flashy animation she had and that kick off. So hype. Though I'll note, I do hope they don't have it where most foliage doesn't react to your movement like the first game. Seemed to be like 50/50 in the video. But maybe it'll change for release. Think the PC version of the first added it, not sure but if so I expect it here too

I disagree.
Either consoles need to start being priced higher to implement better hardware, or devs need to stop pushing every engine they use to the point not hitting 60fps or above.
30fps just doesn't feel good. There's a noticable delay to it. It looks rough when panning the camera.
It's the bare minimum of playability. Do you remember how poorly PS1 and N64 games sometimes ran?
Was that perfectly acceptable, just because the games, themselves, were quality in the content?

This is an interactive medium, and that interactivity is pertinent to the overall experience.

Devs need to start prioritizing framerate a bit more, and not just pushing their engines as far as they can go so the trailers look pretty.

look i get it, i know its important to a lot of people and maybe you guys can see the big difference.

For me i just think of all the great 30FPS games i played and think at no point did i ever notice or sit and think about FPS, i really cant tell the difference majority of the time.

For me i would defs prefer a rock solid 30 with the fidelity to go with it as i can actually see the difference in a big way.

i hope there is 60Fps performance mode for the rest of you, i just don't think a game should be criticised for having a smooth and solid 30 FPS and not having 60 FPS.

I understand wanting it as options are always great, i just disagree with knocking a game that doesn't have it as long as that 30 is locked.

I am sure it will be a blast, but that's not the point. We gotta start progressing here. All the hype prior to release with Sony and MS was that 60FPS was basically the low bar. IDK if this game will have different modes, like a performance mode with higher FPS and a visual like mode with 30FPS. Who knows, but this day and age, there are no excuses to have a game at 30 FPS. Again, the game looks great, but the biggest and most noticeable FPS leap is from 30 to 60. Makes all the difference with the fluidity. I game on PC. I max every game out in settings and always max the FOV to 100%. I still get well over 60 FPS on every game (Even Cyberpunk haha) and usually in the 90's to 100+. I'll tell you what, it's very difficult to notice much after 60, but you can after you game on it for a bit, but its minimal. I would love for consoles to allow more settings in graphics to be tweaked to give users some freedom to achieve a higher framerate if they want.

The game looks good, I like the environments and can't wait to see where else we'll end up. Liking the new robo types but no fliers were shown.

Aloy seemed, to me, to have gained a bit of super strength to push off that far underwater through a cross current. Her jumping also seemed higher and I didn't see her grapple up as she did side ways.

The glider reminded me too much of Zelda BOTW, I don't know how I feel about that, I just immediately saw the likeness.

Hoping the melee combat is more varied this time around, and possibly a lock on of some sort.

When the first game came out many drew comparisons to BOTW and which game was the better of the two. Now we, I, am seeing something seemingly strongly influenced by BOTW and just pointing it out as I'm sure many others will in the weeks and months to come just like the first.

I could have also said that the glider reminded me of Fortnite, and same with Aloy, but I think Aloy did put on some weight. So I'm wondering how much time has progressed, is this new story immediately after the original or maybe a few years later.

Ratchet and Clank. Clank is ratchets glider, there's alot of games that have done it before that. Peach has been known to do that exact same thing. Fortnite does it. It's the same in every game. It's just BotW came to your mind. It's always been a good mechanic to have in 3d games especially. That or a double jump. Or even both

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just that thats where my mind went as I saw it. I don't know how I feel about having a glider, I can help cover large areas if you're high enough, but at the same time a lot of things could probably be missed while floating above.

I did mention Fornite while replying to Darth because I though of that game after my initial thought of BOTW. Princess Peach uses an umbrella as far as I remember so while the floating us similar the animation to me would be and likely is different. Clank as far as I know becomes a glider, I think, slightly different. Although at the time of the video I did wish the glider looked more like a glider with metal and cloth instead of some kind of digital dome, which I can't figure how would that keep her afloat.

I know, it's just a game and I'm thinking too much on what basically doesn't matter right now, it might be explained well within the story.

not poking fun, I legit thought about Arkham Asylum when i saw her use the grapple hook. And that game also has gliding but obviously different execution but BotW does make a good comparison. I dont think of fortnite at all but then again I dont play fortnite. And honestly it isnt an insult to this game to see it have some good influences. In the YT live comments, people were calling her spider-woman (in reference to her grappling). But she did not swing on it (like spider-man would) but instead she used it to ascend to new heights (like Batman does). hence... the observation and comparison.

i mean seriously we could attribute many other games as influences to this one. Tomb Raider (girl protagonist climbing around on various columns and cliffs), Enslaved (futuristic post apocalypse environment with robots and combat involving a staff and various firing weapons). Gears of war, God of War, Devil May cry, Ninja Gaiden.... it's not a bad thing to make comparatives if the comparative makes sense. It isnt like Im saying this compares to Halo (that would be absurd).

I agree inspiration will be taken from other works which is why I first thought of BOTW and then of Fortnite. Neither of which I personally play but have seen enough gameplay of both, which is why I drew a comparison.

I can't see the similarities to Spider-Woman, but do see it with Batman. I purposely didn't mention the grapple like I did the glider as I feel the grappler suits the world more so than a cyber glider.

To be honest even in the world of Horizon the grappler and definitely the glider would be big and clumsy to use, looking at the spear. The glider should be emitting some sort of energy pluse to keep it up and not just a projection similar to the crabs in the first doing so as a shield.

I simply stated the obvious - something that is on both generations is not a reason alone to buy a $500 next gen console - and that applies to HFW, Halo and any other cross gen game.

I would have to agree to disagree with you here as yes they will be available on another console but i can confidently say at least in horizons case it is not going to look anywhere near as good.

I mean we all have different reasons for buying new consoles, mine has always been to see the new fidelity these machines can push, which is the main reason most people but these consoles, yes console exclusives matter but its the new graphics people want.

iv got all last gen consoles and a ps5 right now, with possibly XSX later however with the new PC im thinking it might not be needed now, however even owning a ps4 and knowing i could Just play it on there and don't need a ps5 to play it.

Seeing what i just saw would make me upgrade so could play the best version available, i feel most people would feel that way and it would only be money stopping them from doing it.

I would like to see ambitious games like HFW employ more realistic melee attacks when fighting other humans. Attacks that would follow more accurate physics. For instance, if you hit someone in their leg, it might buckle it and they would fall to their knee or you would have the ability to sweep them off their feet. If you strike them in their arm or hand, they might drop their weapon or have less physical strength or accuracy on attacks, possibly fumbling their weapon or causing them to strike out at you in a visibly weakened state.

Most melee attacks in games just look like you're hitting their entire body in a somewhat generic and unrealistic fashion. I hope we see more emphasis on physics in the future. It would feel more satisfying to strike a specific area of the body and have that area of the body react realistically to the strike. It would be awesome to see an opponent staggering, or holding their ribs or even dragging a leg while trying to fight back. Add to that accurate physical damage to the flesh and armor.

We actually had a few games with those type of physics a couple generations ago, I believe Fear might've had it. From the Halo infinite gameplay demo we do see the brute stumble while getting shot.

I mean, it is coming out for PS4 too you know... but do you really think the PS4 pro will look and perform identical to the PS5 with all this detail? I'm not saying the game couldn't look better but I feel people today have been hyping themselves up for unrealistic expectations for this jump into a new generation.

Peoples expectation these days need something to look leaps and bounds better and MUST be impossible to run on the previous system to be satisfied. The graphics look great but its never enough and never will be enough even later in the generation when the last gen systems aren't even a factor.

The way game worlds are built will be the largest difference this generation compared to previous gen's. On top of having better graphic fidelity and assets on screen at once and keep in mind everyone wants 4K along with all of this(which IMO 4k is a waste of resources). Gameplay should be the #1 factor when enjoying a game and good graphics are a plus... but that's just me.

When SM:MM was being shown off, it was done on PS5 but the PS4 version looks damn good and even better on the pro. That doesnt take anything away from the 5 version and neither will this game. It doesnt have to look like the 5 but it will be the best it can be for the 4/pro. And those users are in for a treat.

On ps4 pro it will probably look the same while playing at 4k as well

It will gave higher resolution and few things like draw distance and RT other than that they will remain the same

Dude you just fell victim to my rant and took it wrong is all. The first two lines was the only part directed towards you and nothing else like I stated at the end. Part of your comment just reminded me of what other people say in relation to their expectations vs reality with next-gen gaming, so I expressed my opinion. Really love that you can now see anchor points when you scan because it was hard to know where you could climb in the 1st game.

Yep because Sony as probably the worst track record with showing a game at E3 announcing it for next year and delaying for another one or two.
In fact Ratchet and Clank will be the 1st major known AAA game that Sony will actually manage to release at said time since 2013.

What's crazier is that this is a cross gen game.

What is a full next gen game going to look like? It's insane. The only thing I believe is less than perfect is the lack of light interacting with Aloy in shaded areas, but my God. How can anyone get hung up on that when everything else is bloody magnificent? I was literally LOOKING for imperfections because it was so majestic.

So?
This is right now the most impressive best looking cross gen game ever and this is the same type of people who boast over their PC specs and jacking off in front of their maxed out settings last gen games.
Seeing them act like this on cross gen exclusive is funny and stench of fish sauce came out of them.
They couldn't hide their bias forever and it didn't take long.
As for me I kept replaying the video it was so deliciously lush and gorgeous looking and my eyes couldn't believe it for cross gen this is mind blowing stuff.

- Better Melee Combat
- Human enemies with components/armors to make the fights more interesting
- New traversal options - vertical/horizontal hooksthot, a hover glider, underwater traversal
- More weapons on the weapon wheel

Yep I’m ready . I really enjoyed the first game a lot and this looks like they have expanded on the first game and that’s all I wanted . I loved God of War but overall I enjoyed HZD slightly more . It’s a good problem to have to argue which game was better , Ghost of Tsushima Bloodborne HZD GoW P5 Nier Automata TLOU2 UC4 and many more .
