For what it's worth I think the tech looks cool and could set some nice atmospheric tones for the game. Hopefully it's used in more games as well going forward.

i think AC Valhalla also have cloud system, so this is not new to me. If they improve it, good for them. Im a lil excited to see it in actual gameplay.

This game has been in development before UE5 was available plus UE5 hasn't even been officially released yet (still in preview). Gears Devs are the first to announce that they are beginning to work on UE5. Most likely this will still be a UE4 game but Project Mara will probably be a UE5 game.

The Decima engine uses real-time Volumetric clouds which were used in HZD. Plus you can already see how the clouds look in the reveal trailer for HFW. Definitely not flat... 😂

For this game, they decided to go the route of controlling the flow of the clouds for specific atmospheric effects. They could still be volumetric but they are not dynamic.

Agreed it looks good but other games that came out 3 years ago like Red Dead have already done clouds like that - so it seemed odd of them and the "journalist" to make a sort of big deal about it.

Firstly, RDR2 is insane. The game looks like a next gen open world title, yet its running on last-gen hardware. That said, the clouds you showed, while impressive, just don't have the same level of dynamism that Ninja Theory is showing off here. Which makes sense, considering that Hellblade 2 is designed for substantially more powerful hardware, which I'm sure gives them more headroom for advanced cloud simulations.

I expected it to be there last year or on their presentation last september/october.... instead we got a clip reel of devs and half made environments around Xmas time I think it was the game awards so maybe we get a new cg trailer or a pretenders cutscene using the engine. But I don't see us getting any gameplay

The last game that focused so heavily on clouds and the sky was The Witcher 3 and we all know how that worked out.
