With 1.6M viewers on Twitch, here is what VALORANT is doing right

VALORANT is about carefully sneaking around a small map waiting for a brief but explosive moment of action and danger. Players die within seconds and "abilities" are just extra perks that ultimately enhance vicious and precise gunplay. Winston mains are going to have a very rough time hopping over to VALORANT.

Riot is taking over, this is just the beginning.

Felix_Argyle_Catbro1515d ago (Edited 1515d ago )

Flies and all that. The game is pretty garbo.

DefaultComment1514d ago

sure sure buddy, I mean if it's garbage then it clearly proves why it had 1.6 million views on twitch and not to mention that everyone is talking about it. I guess you being born with missing chromosomes must suck huh?

BlackTar1871514d ago

Well to be fair they require it to get the bets keys.. so many like me have it on mute in the other room.

Rude-ro1514d ago

1.6 million because of sponsored streams.
Most of those would be watching whatever said streamers would be playing.
“Stream” viewership numbers are no numbers to be used with facts.

amazingmax71515d ago

It only has so many viewers because people want the chance to get a beta code.

DefaultComment1514d ago

That maybe true but even though, the purpose is to rise interest in the gaming community and basically an invitation to start playing their games...you can't deny that's a genius strategy

BillyG0AT1514d ago

It's far from genius. Einstein was genius. This is just dirty marketing.

MarkyMark891514d ago

Kinda bias opinion, it has had millions of views on YouTube streams, has also been averaging around 70K on Mixer who usually only has 70k total views on the entire platform, but both of those streaming platforms don’t offer drops to get white listed in the beta. The game has no paid promo, so nobody got money to say positive things. This comment section just feels like the PS4 single player loyalist type of group. So why even come comment on a ESport PC game... oh yea it’s N4G where all the idiots claim they have great games but argue on forums all day XD

Riot games has the vision to take over the E-sport gaming industry and looks like they are gonna own it big time.

Kavorklestein1514d ago

This games looks boring and Uninspired. Riot can have all the PC Dumbasses they want, anyone who actually think this game looks good I have to fiercely disagree. It does not. The pace is slow, the map is bland, the abilities look out of place and there is no real reason this has so many viewers besides being "the next new thing to try."
Them marketing beta codes thru streamers is a huge part of why it has so many views.
Not because it looks epic, compelling or worth anything.

DefaultComment1514d ago

I'm gonna go on a limb here and say you haven't even touched the game and your so call criteria is based on a 5 min video you saw on YouTube.

Kavorklestein1513d ago

I have not, but I watched about 4 hours of gameplay from several different streamers and it's just not interesting in the slightest. I do not see the reason this has people interested. The only thing I did like was the high visibility sights for ADS.

adds between 8.3-15.3 milliseconds of latency on the game they tested, - no thanks

darksky7h ago

Base latency is 130.8ms and frame gen takes that up to 139.1ms. A 7% increase in latency is hardly a deal breaker.

Zenzuu7h ago

That's hardly a deal breaker and not really noticeable. Even the folks at Digital Foundry said so as well.

darthv721d 1h ago

Impressive results... sadly I don't have a 120hz display. I was thinking this technique could increase fps on any game that supports it regardless of the display.

purple1011d 1h ago (Edited 1d 1h ago )

I have a vrr telly in the lounge,

On another point, what if it were the other way around where the developer aims for higher fps, then used something like pssr to make the resolution higher, that might be better?

Any which way, PS5 pro sure looks interesting now, being they have already doubled frame rate, with JUST just this fsr3.0

sagapo6h ago

It’s up to dev’s to implement FSR 3 support tho but most probably will I guess (hope).

andy857h ago

Now I've extensively tried it I'm not too fussed about 120 fps. Give me a locked 60 and more details and I'm more than happy

anast3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

120 is a bit slow. My eyes can't look at anything less than 260fps.
